School Day Structure


The school day starts at 8.45am and finishes at 3.00pm. For senior school students there is some flexibility in their learning program, which is clearly explained to them by the Senior School Management Team.

TRANSPORT
The school is serviced by Torrens Transit and SouthLink buses.
School bus P, 712, 722, 723 and 733 to the north and south G21 to the east and west other transport services come close to the school and link through to the Old Reynella Interchange. EXCURSIONS, CAMPS AND EXCHANGES


Authentic learning experiences are central to your students education. At Reynella East College teachers offer the following enrichment opportunities: subject based excursions  development of survival skills through Outdoor Education camps learning to ski through an annual Ski Trip overseas exchanges and trips to Japan, Germany and France.

ENROLMENT
Our 2014 Secondary enrolment is 1191 students from years 8 - 13. Year 8 enrolments for 2015 will be capped at 235.

PARENT PARTICIPATION
Parents are valued as important partners in student learning.
Parents and teachers are encouraged to communicate about student progress by telephone, email, through the student diary and on information and interview nights. Parents can also assist in the school by: contributing to committees, working parties and the Governing Council assisting in the canteen, in the uniform sales shop the resource centre, coaching sports teams, arts performances and in other school activities as advertised via the school newsletter. becoming a Host Family for International students.

Reynella East College is an innovative and exciting school offering families an education for their children from Pre-School to Year 12. TRANSITION TO REYNELLA EAST COLLEGE
The school has an extensive transition program in place to support students as they make the move from primary to secondary school.
 contact with each primary schools Transition Team consisting of staff and students throughout the year  contact with our new students in their primary schools throughout the year  two full day school visits to the high school to experience introductory lessons at Reynella East College. a home group based orientation program. Students are placed in classes according to their academic/learning needs. In order to maximise student learning outcomes, all students are tested in the following areas: fitness Ravens IQ Test literacy, science and numeracy special music ability (by application only)

8 - 10 YEAR LEVELS
Our middle years provides a positive environment for supporting students towards success. The middle years program has:
 Years 8, 9 and 10 with nine home groups for each year level. At each year level these nine groups are split into three groups; each managed by a Coordinator classes arranged according to the learning needs of students  a range of structures for effective learning, social and emotional support, academic and interest extension of all students an interdisciplinary approach to delivering the curriculum a strong sense of local community and services.

CO - CURRICULUM

The school has:
 state-of-the-art facilities which are well designed and maintained general teaching areas and specialist facilities lift and ramp access for the physically impaired extensive grounds which are attractively landscaped  computing, technology workshops, dance and drama studio, music suites, gymnasium, a large resource centre, science laboratories, commercial kitchen and health services skills centre, hairdressing salon.

SPECIAL INTEREST SPORTS PROGRAM


Reynella East College offers a self-funded Special Interest Rugby Program. Students interested in applying for entry to the program must meet the criteria and follow the schools application process. Further information is available from the school.
