REACTION PAPER FOR GROUP 2S CASE STUDY ON BISTRO MATEO Submitted by: Group 3 Batang | Basadre | Fernandez | Fraginal

ON THE MATTER

The group offered a very insightful report. They applied several, yet not too much, Operations Management concepts in an organized way. They were able to pinpoint various possible areas of improvement of the business. They were able to make a review from the companys supply chain management to its customer relationship management. However, we wanted to see the process of zooming in. They should have clearly presented the main problem or main objective of their case study, say, highlighted the main Operations Management aspect involved. Then, they could chop it into parts as they see fit.

For example, they could have made an assessment of the business using the major problem areas discussed in class and then identified the problem which demands the most immediate solution. Given that problem, they could have presented their recommendation which is supported by different Operations Management concepts.

Nevertheless, it could be said that they made a thorough analysis of the company. They did not leave out anything important. The application of the Operations Management topics was also very evident. For every glitch in the companys operations, they were able to come up with appropriate remedies.

ON THE MANNER

The PowerPoint presentation of the group was refreshing. It exhibited animations and simple colors and graphics. It is also minimalistic but still maintains a very artistic form.

One of the weak points in the presentation was the number of reporters. All the members of the group reported. It was a good thing that they have maximized the participation of the members but this led to a disorderly flow of the report. There was a continuous change of reporters making it hard for listeners to focus. They can maximize

participation in so many different ways other than having a lot of reporters. They can have a skit or a game facilitated by the non-reporters.

Also, the reporters were wearing different colors of V-neck shirts. This is also a tiny mistake of the group. It was simple but quite informal. Wearing a polo-shirt or polo should have been more presentable.

As to the way they have reported, everyone was able to explain their points clearly. But what set the differences was how they explained it. Some discussed as if they were only telling a story. They were explaining while trying to maintain the attention of the audience. They made sure every point they said was understood, and that their report followed a smooth flow. This is the good way of reporting. It was as if they really are operations management and control officers. On the other hand, some were reading directly from their cue cards. They should have at least memorized a few lines from what they were to say in the class. But what they did was read exactly what they have prepared. This implies that they are not very familiar with the subject matter.
