Education
v Post doctorate Fellow in Human Oncological Pathology and Stem Cells Biology and
Clinical Applications under the supervision of Pr Mauro Krampera (7th April 2011-
2012/06), University of Verona, Italy.
v Ph.D in Human Oncological Pathology and Stem Cells Biology and Clinical applications
under the supervision of Pr Mauro Krampera (2008-7th April 2011), University of Verona,
Italy.
2002-2007
- First research work: Evaluation of activities of Superoxide dismutases (SOD) and
Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PDH), enzymes whose low level indicates
oxidative stress. The studies were done using red blood cell extracts from 50 AIDS
patients. 32 “healthy individuals” were followed in the same way as negative controls.
- Second project (suspended due to the lack of infrastructure): Analysis of the effects of
some antiretroviral drugs on the liver function.
Research Interest
Coculture of the Chronic Leukemia cells with the Bone Marrow- Derived Mesenchymal
Stromal Cells (BM-MSCs) as in vitro models to study some signaling pathways in both
Chronic Leukemia cells and BM-MSCs
Our research has the following objectives:
v The First aim is the understanding of the physiological role of some signaling pathways in
normal and Chronic leukemia cells survival.
v The long-term objective will be to use our understanding of normal and Chronic leukemia
cells biology and of molecular mechanisms to develop strategies for the therapeutic
manipulation of some signaling pathways in the treatment of Acute Leukemia. To confirm
our results in vivo by knocking out the downstream Notch gene responsible of the
antiapoptotic effect observed in vitro.
Techniques used: protein-RNA-DNA analysis (ChIP), FASC, Western blot, ChIP sequence,
PCR and novel imaging mass spectrometry techniques.
Other Interests
1- Microbial-triggered inflammation: Role against pathogens, in tissue fibrosis, in
carcinogenesis and in neurodegenerative diseases.
2- Epigenetic regulation in normal hematopoiesis and in hematological malignancies
3- Signaling Pathways in neuroinflammation.
