Atheists vs. Christians It has been 163 years since the universal establishment of the Scientific Code, and the kids were citing the worldly anthem before school started as per tradition. I pledge allegiance to the state for the purpose of progress everywhere, and to the greatness for which it stands, one world under humanity, forever factual, with intellect and atheism for all. The kids sat down and resumed their normal chattering amongst each other. The teacher was at the desk, scribbling the last sentences of his daily journal entry like a madman. Because what if there is something after death? What if there is something that we genuinely dont know? What are we to do but fill in the holes with our imagination? Cross pulled up the database with his question in mind. Since the prohibition of all religions and religious peoples, there had been an information revolution. Millions of documents had been unearthed around 3 SC, when the very last religionChristianityhad finally fallen, after dozens of years of war. Their secrets, operations, assassinations, everything that was committed over the millennia was revealed to the public. This flood of documents created the Info Revolution, and because there was no religion to hinder the progress of science, virtually every question imaginable had been solved. All that was necessary was to ask the question on the database. In his infinite curiosity, he typed in his question. What comes after life? Insufficient data. Please provide more information. With a few audible sighs, Cross put his journal in his book. I cant talk about it, he thought. Ever since Noah and I talked about it over dinner, I cant get the idea of a higher power out of my head. That something is watching me, all of us, judging ussomeone other than the government. And that is an incredibly dangerous thought. The bell rang. Cross swallowed. Thats right. Ill just keep it to myself. Nobody will ever know, ever. He stood up, quickly pushing aside his flustered disposition. Alright, class! Take out your textbooks. Today we are going to be learning the basic facets of the truest and undeniable aspects of biologyevolution. Cheers and whoops overtook the elementary students. This is my favorite unit! Oh man, Ive got books upon books on this stuff! My parents drill this into me, itll be a cinch.

Cheers and whoops from all, except for one. Fletcher looked onward, unfazed by his friends anticipation of discussion over evolution. His friends treated the theory of evolution as if gospel; he, evidently, not so much. Cross assumed that because he wasnt reacting as much as the other kidsor any class that Cross had taught in his years of teachingthat Fletcher simply hadnt learned about evolution, a rarity considering most if not all parents already took it upon themselves to impress the theory of evolution on their offspring. Instead, Fletcher had a prepared look, inquisitive, ready to memorize any information necessary to pass the test. Underneath that cool expression was restraint, the desire to keep his voice to himself, to play it smart. None of the kids around him would notice that Fletcher was acting odd. Only Cross saw. He saw immediately that his student only tolerate the next few weeks on evolution, but that didnt stop Fletcher from letting some of his contempt from seeping out.
