Week II, Deliverable III; Group 6 Martina Todaro, John Goad, Nina Geller, Noosha Aftahi 1.

What do we feel our group did really well? 1. We made people feel very comfortable by giving people the opportunity to be silent 2. We gave the audience space to understand, reflect and digest the material 3. We engaged the audience and stimulated further discussion by asking questions 2. What would you change if you were to facilitate this session again? 1. As facilitators, we should have sat down and interacted during the small group case studies more than we did 2. Let brainstorming be organic and flow naturally 3. As facilitators, we cut each other off too often and should have given each other more space to work 3. At what points in your session did you feel that participants were most engaged? The participants were most engaged during the case studies because they had the chance to share each others point of views and opinions and they had the opportunity to find similarities and differences on their points of view and the way the interpreted the case studies. Furthermore, there were no specific guidelines during the case studies so the participants had the opportunity to move organically. 4. How well did your session address issues of power, privilege and marginalization? How could you rework the session to more effectively engage with power issues? Due to the fact that our topic was focused on power, one of the main objectives of our facilitation was to dig to the root of what power means, which we believe helped break power dynamics that might have existed during the facilitation. We as facilitators chose to sit in the circle, as opposed to standing, to help break any power dynamics between ourselves and the participants. However, during the case studies, we would have done a better job breaking power dynamics if we were to have engaged with the participants during the case studies 5. How would you describe your teamwork in preparing and facilitating this exercise? As a group, we work very efficiently with one another when preparing and executing our facilitations. However, one of the aspects that we can improve is not talking over one another during the facilitations. Though we did separate our roles, we tended to jump over one anothers words during the beginning of the facilitation. 6. What is the most important feedback that you received that you will take with you and apply? The importance of positive affirmations is one thing that our group will take with us and apply in our future facilitations.
