An Ess a # $Rea d # % t"% &e% Re a d$ When you sub mi t the writing exercis e at the beginning of class I expe c t that you will do so as an expr e s sio n of your com mi t m e n t to the principle that you will provide me with an ess a y that is !rea d y" to" be" rea d.! In effect you will be making a good" faith affirma tion that you have take n the ess a y to !compl e tion!# that is you have inves t e d your full intelligenc e in its prep a r a tio n and that you are read y to sub mi t it for a careful rea ding. I trust that you will recogniz e that the phra s e !rea d y" to" be" rea d! involves an ethical com mi t m e n t on the part of both the writer and the rea d e r . $he writer affirms that she% h e has done as muc h as possible with the ess a y. $his does not me a n howe v e r that you&v e done as muc h as possible with the ess a y in the last day's( befor e it is due.
