Note: All screen views in this document are typical examples. Real values and displayed softkeys can vary according to the operating mode and the type of plant. 1.1 Introduction
The equipment is operated by touching the operating unit display panel. Most of the equipment parameters and equipment status indications can be displayed and changed in this way. The basic display panel layout is as follows:
Company logo Energy flow marked in blue User logged-on as System time
Gustav Klein

A functional module can be selected by touching its symbol. A blue frame indicates that the module has been selected.
Measured values and utilization bar diagrams can also be displayed. Failures affecting the flow of energy are shown in red.

After "password change" has been selected, first the old password must be entered and then the new password twice. A delay can be set for an automatic forced log out after the last entry (0 = no automatic log out).
The default passwords are: User level: Configurator level: EGB EGB
The operator-level password can be reset to EGB at the configuration level. The service log-on is reserved for the staff. 2.3 Operator assistant
When the operator assistant is called up on the softkey with the question mark, the operator will receive concrete instructions for a start-up or shut-down. The interactive guide recommends the next useful action and monitors its execution. The execution of the switching actions, however, always remains in the hands and responsibility of the operator. 2.4 Messages / Clearing the event store
The event store can hold 512 event messages in a ring store. The latest event message then overwrites the oldest event message. The events are classified in the following stages of urgency: User: Hint: Warning: Alarm: Operator triggers an event. A condition has changed. Abnormal condition not adversely affecting the loads. Critical fault.
The event messages are registered with a time resolution of 4 ms. A sequential event number, the time of the event, the type of event and the event text are stored for every event message. The configurator is authorized to clear and configure the event message display. In this view individual event categories can be suppressed.

Thyristor rectifier: During the test the rectifier voltage is reduced to a safe intercept voltage and the loads are supplied from the battery. This ensures that the load is always supplied by the inverter even if the battery fails unexpectedly. IGBT rectifier: The programmed battery load is fed back into the mains as far as not required from the inverter. The battery is discharged either with constant current or constant power, the test duration can be time-controlled, Ah-controlled or kWh-controlled. A battery test without recuperation is also possible. The battery test was successful when the desired capacity was withdrawn and the battery voltage did not fall below the minimum value. The battery is switched over to normal charge operation at the end of the battery test. The battery data at the end of the test remain stored in the protocol. If the battery test was aborted automatically, the error message can be acknowledged by pressing the Stop button. Note: The state of charge is calculated from the entered battery (rated) capacity. The battery capacity should therefore not be the (10 hour) rated capacity but the battery capacity usable in UPS operation. (see battery manufacturer's data: Battery capacity as a function of discharge current.) The display of the state of charge must be activated in the configuration menu.

1.9V is selected per cell for the final voltage (clearly above the deep-discharge limit). The discharge current is read out from the table for various operating points. Then the likely discharge capacity is calculated from the discharge current and the specification of the discharge time (Table). 15% are then subtracted from this capacity to allow for possible temperature fluctuations and battery aging. For the example battery, this gives the following dimensioning data: Battery cap: 30Ah (Type 12 SLA30) Number of cells: 192 Min. discharge current: 3A Conversion facReaction time: 10s tor min -> h From table Default 15% residual capait
Discharge current I1: 9.6 A Discharge voltage at I1: 1.9V Discharge cap. at I1: 16Ah (Calculation: 120 min / (60 min/h) * 9,6 A * 0,85)
Discharge current I2: 20.7A From table Discharge voltage at I2: 1.9V Discharge cap. at I2: 13 Ah (Calculation: 45 min / (60 min/h) * 20,7 A * 0,85) Discharge current I3: 45,3A Discharge voltage at I3: 1.9V Discharge cap. at I3: 6.4Ah (Calculation: 10 min / (60 min/h) * 45,3 A * 0,85) Discharge current I4: 55.1A Discharge voltage at I4: 1.9V Discharge cap. at I4: 3.9Ah (Calculation: 5 min / (60 min/h) * 55,1 A * 0,85)

2.8.9 Battery current ripple supervision The battery current measurement system contains a ripple current supervision to avoid battery damage by high ripple current. When the current ripple exceeds a defined limit value, the supervision generates a warning and causes shutdown of the rectifier after a delay of e.g. 24h. The RMS battery current is divided into DC and AC component. Both components are displayed in the mimic diagram. The AC component is permanently compared to the limit value. The warning "batt. current ripple" will be generated after 20 sec. of exceeding the limit. In case of permanent high ripple current, the rectifier will be shut off after the preset delay time. This causes an alarm in the device history table. Manual restart of the rectifier causes alarm reset. Attention: High battery current ripple causes permanent battery damage and should be avoided. In case of frequently ripple current warnings without known cause a check by service stuff is recommended. Causes of high ripple current may be: exremely unbalanced inverter load extremly unbalanced rectifier mains voltage faulty rectifier power stage faulty capacitor filter faulty rect. control unit oscillation of an unadjusted control stage

6 Maintenance
So that the stored data are not lost even when the complete equipment is switched off, the battery-buffered RTC has to be changed every 10 years. Procedure: 1. Read out the stored data , using softkey Start RTC change 2. Disconnect the operating supply from the display at X1, X2 and X3. 3. Replace the system clock D3. 4. Reconnect the operating supply to the display at X1, X2 and X3. 5. Restore record and maintenance data with End RTC change 6. Check the equipment clock.
