INTRODUCTION:
This report is about the detailed information about our 20 hours community work at Al Shifa eye trust Hospital Rawalpindi. This community work was university requirement and we done it in 200 . !e had complete it in " days .#n these " days we spent $ hours daily at the Hospital and performed the assi%ned task as by the authorities. The purpose of this &ommunity work was to help the staff and people comin% there for the treatment as much as possible. 'iss. Asma of youth affairs %uided us in this time period and her support was a %reat source of learnin% for us. AL SHIFA INTERNATIONAL EYE HOSPITAL: Shifa eye trust hospital describes tertiary eye care services( community)oriented prevention of blindness pro%ram( need)based human resource development and development of appropriate and affordable technolo%y. Al)Shifa Trust was established in * +$ as a non)%overnmental( non)political( charitable or%ani,ation. -resident of -akistan is the e.)officio -atron)#n)&hief of the trust. Retired service men( businessmen( bureaucrats and professionals formulate the board of trustees. -revention and control of blindness throu%h standard and sustainable eye care service which are accessible and affordable( human resource development by trainin% of doctors( nurses and paramedics and to establish facilities for research in ophthalmolo%y are the aims and ob/ectives of the hospital. Al)Shifa 0ye Trust has since * +$ taken upon it to contribute si%nificantly for the eradication of blindness. 1esides establishin% hospital where all needy persons are provided with quality eye care and treatment facilities( mostly free of cost( it intends

educatin% youn% boys and %irls about eye diseases( care 2 treatment. #t would also wish that these youn% boys and %irls would in turn create the awareness in the society and encoura%e others to participate for the noble cause of Al)Shifa 0ye Trust.

MISSION STATEMENT: -revention and control of blindness by providin% standard and sustainable eye care services which are accessible and affordable to all re%ardless of %ender( race( color or reli%ion. #ts essential components would be hospital)based tertiary eye care services( community)oriented prevention of blindness pro%ram( need)based human resource development( promotion of basic and applied research in ophthalmolo%y and development of appropriate and affordable technolo%y. OPERATIONS The Al)Shifa 0ye Trust currently operates 3 eye hospitals in -akistan. The aim is to provide free eye treatment to as many of the *.$ million blind people as possible. A ma/or emphasis is placed upon screenin% and other preventative measures to ensure new cases of blindness are reduced. Two new hospitals are planned to come into operation in 200 . Al)Shifa Trust is a non)profit and a non)political or%ani,ation. #t is committed to providin% eye care and treatment mainly to the under privile%ed and poor. Almost 4$5 of all patients attendin% Al)Shifa 0ye Hospitals are treated free. The Trust is able to meet only 30)"05 its e.penses from its own sources while the remainin% e.penses are met throu%h ,akat( donations and support from philanthropists. Al)Shifa has achieved the awards of e.cellence and is a !orld Health 6r%ani,ation 7!H68 collaboratin% center for 0ast 'editerranean Re%ion since * ". #n the field of prevention of blindness( Al)Shifa has partnerships with many international 9:6s

includin% !H6( 6R1#S #nternational);SA( <ions &lub #nternational);SA( 6peration 0ye Si%ht ;niversal)&anada( Si%ht Savers #nternational);= and others.

DONATIONS 0very day a child is enabled to see their mother for the first time ) brin%in% /oyful tears to all( vision is restored to /obless youths thus enablin% them to become earnin% members of the family( and scores of elderly are helped to live their lives happily and independently. At Al)Shifa we help retrieve the colors of life> ?@es # can see(? this was the spontaneous response of 'utalli( who was recently restored vision after a successful operation at Al) Shifa 0ye Trust Hospital. -lease donate %enerously and make a difference in chan%in% the lives of thousands of needy patients. At the same time( AST has undertaken several

ambitious and successful commercial pro/ects in an effort to become self)reliant such as production of eye)drops( mana%ement of a fuel and &9: station in its premises( establishment of an optical shop and lettin% of shops on rental basis.

WORK AT AL -SHIFA EYE TRUST: The community work was completed in " days( and we worked for $ hours each day from B30 to 2B30 and the detailed analysis of our e.perience is as followsC Day 1 and 2: 6n first day duty was assi%ned to us .!e have to do a complete survey of patients and inform administration about problems they are havin%. Dor this purpose we have constructed a questionnaire. And prove our questionnaire by our supervisor 's Asma. Day 3 and 4: The ne.t two days we spend with patients and filled questionnaire by *$0 patients and $0 each. Throu%h this we %et knowled%e about the problems faced by the patient. Day : 6n our last day we had make an analysis report with the help of questionnaire and submitted it to the 's Asma .After that !e had a discussion with the director of Al)Shifa 0ye Trust Hospital on our report. !e had %iven them su%%estions how they can make it better and best.

CONCLUSION:
#t is one of the best and cheap eye hospitals in -akistan who is workin% for the welfare of the needy people. These 20 hours were very knowled%e %ainin% for us at the Al)Shifa eye hospital and the support and %uidance 'iss Asma was very helpful for us. !e learned a lot of thin%s

durin% that time period. !e also polished our communication skill throu%h this activity. A part from this it helped to learn about our moral duty in this world and the importance and /oy of helpin% needy. This community work also %ives the practical e.posure and made us learn to work in teamwork. #t made us reali,e the importance of commitment towards oneEs duty.
