3 pawnshop burglars nabbed by Bernard Galang Tuesday, 26 October 2010 16:59 ANGELES City Three men were arrested

for robbing a pawnshop in Barangay San Nico las here Monday. City police director Senior Supt. Danilo Bautista identified the suspects as Arn el dela Cruz, 29, of Barangay San Nicolas, this city; Salvador Keyser, Jr., 28, of Barangay Cabamb angan, Bacolor, and Ando Manaloto, 33, of Barangay Calulut, City of San Fernando. Dela Cruz was positively identified by a Pistahan Pawnshop security personnel as the man he saw inside when they opened at 10:45 a.m. He and Keyser were arrested by policemen as they came out of a hole they dug in a drainage along the Sapang Balen Creek. Manaloto was arrested for suspiciously standing in t he creek during the police operation. Bautista said two security bolts were forcibly opened with a blowtorch. Members of Police Station 1 led by Chief Insp. Rico Cayabyab, City Public Safety Company led by Supt. Rommel Batangan, and the city s Special Weapons and Tactics arrested the suspects. Recovered at the pawnshop were a drill, two acetylene tanks, a torch, flashlight s and plastic containers. Police are still computing the value of the stolen items. 1 / 1 19 nabbed for violating liquor ban Monday, 25 October 2010 19:18 POLICE arrested at least 19 persons for violating the liquor ban hours before th e barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections opened in Manila yesterday. Manila Police District director Chief Supt. Roberto Rongavilla said one of the s uspects, Edmer Lopez, 37, of 1656-F Antonio Rivera St., Tondo, was caught smoking marijuana whi le drinking liquor at 1:30 a.m. Rongavilla said most of the violators were nabbed in Sta. Cruz district. As of press time, police have yet to receive reports of any untoward incidents r elated to the conduct of the polls. MPD-Station 3 commander Supt. James Afalla said 14 persons were caught drinking in bars at 1 a.m. Three others were caught in Binondo for the same offense. Probers said Jose B. Aquino, 65, of 68 Gabriel St., Gabriel Subdivision, Malabon , and his two accomplices went into hiding after they attacked and nearly killed Roberto Reyes . A warrant for their arrest was issued by Judge Benjamin T. Antonio. Aquino along with Rogelio Molina alias Bagets and Jonathan Nasikugan reportedly ga nged up on Reyes sometime in July 1998. Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and Senator Edgardo Angara stressed this poin t as the latter expressed concern over putting the youth -- as young as 15 years old -- i n the middle of dirty political arena. The SK election is an experiment conducted by the government in the 1980 s to gauge the participation of the youth in the governance of the country. Neil Lamor, ware-house caretaker, of Patria St., Balut, Tondo, was found around 4 a.m. by Leon Quintana, 12, of Tondo. Case officer PO3 Amelito Lopez said Quintana wandered inside the warehouse locat ed at the corner of Buendia and Kawit Sts., Tondo, when he found Lamor. The victim was sprawled at the foot of the stairs with a blue nylon cord looped around his neck. He had abrasions on the forehead and on the forearm. The victim was last seen alive the night before by his cousin Ibarra Rafael insi de their home. Rafael said his cousin did not show any sign of depression although he claimed h e saw Lamor reading a letter. Police failed to find the letter. Lopez believed that Lamor hanged himself but the cord snapped and he fell down t he stairs. A piece of nylon cord was left dangling from a beam where it was tied.
