The Mahele book is under the archive websites that shows all the records of the land division. On the left side was reserved for the king and on the right side was the chiefs and komohiki. It had lack of surveyors when the mahele book was made. Thurston, Lorrin A. "The Fundamental Law of Hawaii." Google Books. The Hawaiian Gazette Co, 1904. Web. 05 Nov. 2013. I got this from google and its an ebook version that was made by Lorrin A. Thurston and I used this to read about what the first constitution or 1840 constitution declared. This constitution was followed up after the Declaration of rights.

He reasoned out how the Great Mahele was caused with many sources he used to state his understanding.

Joerger, Pauline King. The Great Mahele. N.p.: n.p., 1974. Print. The author made this manuscript and he made a conclusion that the Great Mahele still has misunderstanding of what effect it really had. He said that it was a good and a bad thing and he stated his opinions about it. Kuykendall, Ralph S. "The Land Revolution." The Hawaiian Kingdom. Vol. 1. Honolulu: University of Hawaii, 1938. 269-288. Print. The book had the timeline of the events during the Great Mahele and it showed how the Great Mahele was very challenging to go through it with all the foreigners but they still ended having their own land. The author explained the success of it. Rayson, Ann, Dr. "Kamehameha 3: Development of Governments." Hawaii's Royal History. By Helen Wong. Honolulu: n.p., 1987. 93104. Print. This book gave me information about the whole timeline of the development of the government. So it included the main events from before to Great Mahele

"Hawaiian Declaration of Rights-1839." Freehawaii. Maui Mac Media, n.d. Web. 25 Sept. 2013. The website just basically has the statement of the declaration of rights. It says the rights of the people and chiefs, but it also shows the law that no chief could take away their land and they may enjoy their protection under the same law. "Hawaii History: Post-Contact." Alternative Hawaii. N.p., n.d. Web. 17 Sept. 2013. The Great Mahele was a solution to the plantation of extending the lands. It was very different from the Great Mahele because the amount of resources depends where you live. But this old system prevented the foreigners from buying land.
