1 Introduction
This sixth project is a comprehensive approach to the skills I have learned in Pro/Engineer Wildfire
4.0. In it, I am required inspect a 2D drawing of a common wrench and identify its dimensioning
mistakes. There were 4 discrepancies in the drawings; these are listed in their respective tables below.
As a complement to identifying the mistakes, I was required to generate tentative dimensions for the
parts once I corrected them.

The second part of this project dealt with actually creating the solid models, combine them in an
assembly, photo render a picture of the assembly, create a 2D dimensioned drawing of it and generate
an animation of the assembly showing its distinct features.

2 Result
The result section consists of two parts: the first part deals with the inspection and identification of
the discrepancies in the drawings and the second part deals with the creation of the 3D model and
presentation of the wrench. Relevant graphics, figures and pictures will be included to illustrate the
work.

2.1 Phase 1: Identify and Fix.

Under the label of this section, I was required to inspect a 2D assembly drawing of a wrench and
identify its dimensioning problems. This was made possible through trying to create solid models of the
parts in Pro/Engineer. The problems identified are listed below.

Part Problem
Handle The teeth from the bottom of the handle intersect the threads of the screw.
Housing The hole through which the handle passes through must be enlarged to allow it to
slide through.
Screw The threads of the screw must overlap with the teeth of the handle.
Pin The hole in the housing for the end of the pin should be lowered, since the entire
housing must be lowered too.

After identifying the flaws of the design, my task was to fix these problems by hand-sketching the
new parts with their new dimensions. A table with the hand-sketches is located below. Also, the
scanned sheet for the questions of part 1 is attached at the end of this section.

2.2 Phase 2: Solid Modeling.
In the second phase, the task was to create the solid model of the fixed wrench with new
dimensions. This was done thanks to Pro/Engineer. Also, I was required to create photo renderings and
animations of the assembly, plus a 2D part drawing exemplifying the assembly dimensions.

2.2.4 Part D
Below is a picture of the photo rendered wrench using Pro/Engineer’s ARX tool.

2.2.5 Part E
Part E consists of two animations of the wrench and its assembly process. Please check on the
webpage for this project to see these videos.

3 Conclusion
Project number six was an extensive work that tested many of my abilities to create, assemble,
render and animate in Pro/Engineer. It has shown me, once again, of Pro/E’s versatility and extensive
range of work.
