Kamal buddy In thee story "the Angry Clam", the clam hates reality, but is unable to do anything about

it due to a lack of imagination. The Clam's weak attempts of visualisation connects significantly to Northrop Frye's teachings: educating the imagination will give an individual the life that he desires in the world he lives in. Through the Clam unable to destroy the earth due to a weak imagination, the Clam's hate towards reality and the angry clam's first attempt to enter the imaginary world [finish his sentence by stating something]. At the beginning of the novel, the angry clam "PLOTS THE DESTRUCTION OF THE EARTH. [But his idea is] FOILED BY AN UTTER LACK OF IMAGINATION, THE CLAM DECIDES TO STAY STILL" (Quisling pg #). The Clam's desire to destroy the world but due to the constraints of his "UTTER LACK OF IMAGINATION", the clam must stay still unable to do anything. This is a major connection towards Northrop Frye's teachings when he states: "Literature speaks the language of imagination, and the study of literature is supposed to train and improve the imagination." The Clam can improve his lack of imagination by studying literature and it will allow him to imagine the world he desires from the world he lives in which is a life where his ability is to destroy the earth. As he soon becomes tired of the world he is living in, "THE ANGRY CLAM NOW CONSIDERS THE UNIVERSE TO BE EMPTY AND DEVOID@@ANYTHING REAL." The angry clam is so sick of his constraints in the real world that he increases his hate towards reality. In "the educated imagination" Northrop Frye states that the world we live in is full of limitations and individuals are unable to live the life they desire, "but in the imagination anything goes that can be imagined, and the limit of the imagination is a totally human world" (Frye 9). [[Frye goes on to say the fundamental job of the imagination is to]] When "the angry clam" is explaining his hate toward reality, he does not realize that with an educated imagination, he can create a world with no limitations, where anything goes and if he educates his imagination, he can create the world he desires. When all hope is lost "the angry clam" finally decides to enter an imaginary world, "THE ANGRY CLAM DEPLOYS HIS MOST POWERFUL CREATIVE VISUALIZATION TECHNIQUES. WITH ONE FOCUSED THOUGHT HE FORCES HIS WILL - THE GODS...GONE. ALL CREATURES OF THE LAND AND SEA GONE [...] THE CLAM ENJOYS A SMOG CONTENTMENT PREVIOUSLY UNKNOWN TO HIM" (Quisling page #) Finally when all hope lost for the clam, he tries to use his imagination to escape from reality. The angry clam feels a great contentment that he had never felt before. Although he finally feels the happiness, he is still unable to creat his desired world and only feels a slight bit of puss joy that his imaginary world can provide. Northrop Frye states "No matter how much experience we may gather in life, we can never get the experience that the imagination gives us" (Frye 42). If "the angry clam" educates and uses his imagination correctly, he can create the world he desires and "step away" from the constraints of his reality.
