Misi Turnamen Turnamen ini memiliki misi untuk mempromosikan popularitas olahraga golf pada para pegolf junior dan memperkaya pengalaman para pegolf junior untuk bertanding dalam turnamen golf kelas dunia, turnamen ini juga memiliki misi pariwisata khususnya untuk kota Jakarta dan Indonesia pada umumnya. Kejuaraan yang merupakan salah satu rangkaian perayaan HUT DKI yang ke 480 ini akan diselenggarakan pada tanggal 29 Mei 1 Juni 2007 di Damai Indah Golf, BSD course. Sebagai salah satu turnamen junior yang memiliki reputasi terbaik di Asia, pada penyelenggaraannya yang ke 13 tahun ini untuk pertama kalinya akan ditingkatkan menjadi tingkat dunia. Sebagai event berkualitas yang sangat menarik minat para pegolf junior Indonesia maupun pegolf junior International, menjadikan turnamen ini sebagai sarana promosi serta materi liputan pers yang baik bagi media lokal maupun International.

Sejarah dan Latar Belakang Pelaksanaan Turnamen Turnamen mulai diselenggarakan pada tahun 1993 sebagai gagasan dari Ir.Ciputra, pendiri Damai Indah Golf. Beliau menyelenggarakan Ciputra Cup Tournament pada tahun 1993 dengan tujuan mencari bibit-bibit unggul pegolf tanah air, agar pada gilirannya dapat mengharumkan nama bangsa di dunia internasional melalui prestasi olahraga. Untuk pertama kali di tahun 2002, turnamen tersebut mengijinkan pemain junior Indonesia untuk berkompetisi dengan remaja-remaja yang berprestasi dari Filipina, Thailand, Singapura dan Malaysia yang membuatnya menjadi turnamen internasional. Apa yang diharapkan oleh DIG telah benar-benar membuahkan hasil positif. Tercatat beberapa pemenang turnamen junior ini telah berhasil memenangkan turnamen junior tingkat Internasional antara lain William Sjaichudin yang pernah meraih prestasi sebagai ranking ke 2 dunia pada kejuaraan Junior World Golf Championship di San Diego pada tahun 2004, Agnes

Retno Sudjasmin yang merupakan atlet nasional Sea Games Indonesia saat ini, meraih prestasi sebagai ranking 4 dalam Philippine Ladies Amateur Open pada tahun 2006 yang lalu di Filipina, Celine Harjani berhasil meraih posisi 4th runner up pada kejuaraan Callaway Junior World Golf Championship di San Diego pada tahun 2006. Sementara pada bulan April tahun ini Tatiana Jacqueline berhasil meraih posisi 3rd Champion pada The 6th True Vision Thailand International Junior Golf Championship di Hua Hin, Thailand. Selain itu turnamen ini juga sangat menunjang meningkatnya minat junior terhadap olah raga golf yang semula hanya diminati oleh lapisan masyarakat tertentu tetapi pada belakangan ini telah diminati hampir oleh segala lapisan masyarakat dan sampai saat ini DIG menjadi satusatunya Klub yang secara konsisten menyelenggarakan turnamen golf junior setiap tahunnya. Lapangan golf BSD merupakan salah satu lapangan golf yang dimiliki oleh DIG, dimana tempat pelaksanaan turnamen ini adalah merupakan Jack Nicklauss Signature Course. Selain memiliki standard kualitas Internasional dan menawarkan challenging bagi setiap pemain, lapangan golf karya The Golden Bear ini telah mendapatkan penghargaan sebagai lapangan golf terbaik di Indonesia versi USA Golf Digest pada tahun 1999, Host Venue of the year untuk PGA Tour pada tahun 1996 serta The Best Five di Asia Pacific dari Hertz Travel International pada tahun 2000.

Kondisi dan Format Turnamen Kejuaraan ini terbuka bagi pegolf junior yang dibawah 17 tahun. Format kejuaraan adalah individu dan team. Dalam format individu akan dibagi menjadi dua divisi yaitu putra & putri. Masing masing dibagi dalam 4 kategori kelompok umur yaitu Kategori Divisi A berusia 15-17 tahun, kategori Divisi B berusia 13-14 tahun, kategori Divisi C berusia 11-12 tahun dan akhirnya kategori Divisi D dengan usia di bawah 10 tahun. Sementara untuk format team, baik untuk team putra ataupun putri harus terdiri dari 2 pemain dari kelompok umur kelas A dan B

Mengenai Lapangan Golf Dibangun disepanjang penggiran Sungai Cisadane yang indah dengan bukit-bukit dan lembah hijau Serpong sebagai latarbelakang lapangan Golf Bumi Serpong Damai yang dirancang Jack Nicklaus mencapai par 72. Masing-masing dan setiap hole yang ada dilapangan ini adalah kualitas yang unik. Menampilkan sand trap Nicklaus dan banyak water hazard. Bermain dilapangan golf ini harus berhati-hati dan dengan banyak kesabaran. Semua dari hole par 3 merupakan hole yang hebat dengan hole # 3 yang paling besar. Hole # 16 (par4) adalah hole yang paling sulit.

Kepesertaan Sampai dengan tanggal 4 Mei 2007, 18 negara yang berasal dari benua Asia, Amerika, Eropa dan Australia telah memberikan konfirmasi untuk mengirimkan delegasinya mengikuti kejuaraan ini, diantaranya adalah Thailand, Singapura, Inggris, Amerika, Jerman, Myanmar, Brazil, Belanda, Vietnam, Filipina, Brunei Darussalam, Cina, Malaysia, Laos, Korea, Australia dan Finlandia. CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION
1. ORGANIZER Organizing Committee of JAKARTA WORLD JUNIOR GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP 2007 2. VENUE Damai Indah Golf - BSD Course 3. DATES May 29 - June 01, 2007 4. ELIGIBILITY The Championship is open to all junior golfers who are under 18 years of age on May 29th, 2007 and similarly for their age groups. 5. SIZE OF FIELD The field shall be limited to 150 players. Each International member Union/Association can nominate 8 junior players. One player in each age group of boys and girls. The Organizing Committee take great pleasure in inviting four players (one of age group 15 - 17 years old and one of age group 13 - 14 years old for boys and girls) nominated by your Union/Association to participate in the above Championship and form two teams in the International Team Event. The Organizing Committee has the right to finalize the number of golfers to play in this tournament. 6. International Team Event: Boys Team Event: Each Boys Team shall comprise of 2 players, one from Class A and one from Class B. The total of the teams score for 4 rounds shall be the teams score for the Championship. The team returning the lowest score for the Championship shall be the winner. The Governor of DKI Jakarta Challenge Cup shall be awarded to the girls team champion. a. Champion: the team with the lowest three days total - for girls. b. 1st Runner-up c. 2nd Runner-up 10. TIES Ties for first place, in both team and individual competitions, will be settled by a sudden death play-off. All team members shall be eligible to participate in the play off. All minor placing shall be decided based on a count back system as follows: a. Last 18 holes, if a tie still persists, then b. Last 9 holes, if a tie still persists, then c. Last 6 holes, if a tie still persists, then d. Last 3 holes, if a tie still persists, then e. Hole 18. If a tie still persists, then the preceding 18 holes, 9 holes, 6 holes, 3 holes in that order. 11. 12. OFFICIAL PRACTICE ROUND Players are entitled to one free practice round on Monday, May 28th 2007, at BSD Course, Practice round before that date will be subject to payment of Green Fees. This does not apply to Members of Damai Indah Golf. Players may practice at the driving range upon payment on his/her account. 13. RULES OF GOLF The Championship will be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf approved by The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews and with the Local Rules approved by the Organizing Committee. Disputes, if any, will be settled by the Organizing Committee, and a decision made by the Organizing Committee will be final. 14. DRIVING CLUBS Driving clubs must not have a characteristic time greater than 257 microseconds when measured on pendulum testing apparatus approved by the R & A, and must be listed on the list of Conforming Driver Heads issued by the R & A. 15. LIST OF CONFORMING GOLF BALLS The ball the player uses must be named on the current list of Conforming Balls issued by the R & A. PENALTY FOR BREACH OF CONDITION: DISQUALIFICATION 16. OTHERS a. Play will commence every day starting at 06.30 am. Tee times and pairings will be posted on the announcement board at the Club House and at the information desk at the Hotel and will be distributed to all players at BSD Course. b. Player must report to the starter 30 minutes before his/her starting time and should arrive at the starting point 10 minutes before his/her starting time. Rule 33-7 will be applied for a breach to this Rule. If a player arrives at the starting tee, ready to play, within five minutes after the starting time of his/her group, the penalty for the failrule to start on time is 2 strokes, to be added to the score of the first hole, instead of disqualification. c. A penalty of disqualification will be imposed to any player for improper behaviors, such as : swearing and throwing golf clubs. d. Markers will be assigned to the Class D players. When the situation requires, the Organizing Committee will also assign a marker to players in other Classes. e. Players must use official caddies assigned by the host club. f. All players are prohibited from smoking and consuming alcoholic drinks in and around the golf club. g. The use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited during the competition rounds. 17. LOCAL TRANSPORTATION Buses will be provided to transport players, parents, and officials from the official hotel to the golf club. Another management will be made for the airport pick-up. GOLF CART WILL BE PROVIDED FOR CAPTAINS ONLY 18. ORGANIZING COMMITTEE The Organizing Committee will be appointed by the Damai Indah Golf Committee. In the event that the Organizing Committee is requested to make any decision involving the penalty of disqualification, each country whose player is involved may appoint a nonvoting observer to attend 19.
