Franois Chabanne Project Manager (technical business framework) Franois Eccentric butterfly control valve: Triple eccentric (offset) Design prevents galling and scratches between the metal seat and the metal disc due to its unique design. The only time where the seal comes into contact with the seat is at the point of complete closure. Triple offset valves are generally used in applications which require bi-directional tight shut-off in oil and gas, LNG/NPG terminal and tanks, chemical factories, and shipbuilding. They are also used for dirty/heavy oil to prevent extrusion. Difference between plug valve and Globe valve: A Plug Valve is a Globe Valve. Very generally speaking there are two major catagories of Industrial Process Control Valves, Sliding Stem and Rotary. Globe Bodies valves fall into the category of Sliding Stem Valves. Butterfly and Ball valves fall into the category of Rotary valves. However there are what is referred as Rotary Plug Valves, whereby a partial sphere has a shaft eccentrically mounted, that rotates into and out of a metal or composition seat acting as a plug. Most plug valves are sliding stem. Like

Franois Chabanne Project Manager (technical business framework) Franois Ball valves do not offer the fine control of other valves for throttling purposes, but they can be used for some degree of throttling. In general, plug valves offer even less control for throttling. Like

These holes facilitate equalization of process pressure on both sides of the plug. Plug travels easily In contrast, unbalanced valve does not have holes in the plug. The process pressure is only on one
