Hi! Im Alecia Smith. Im a designer but try not to judge me for coloring outside the lines.

I have spent the last year obtaining a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree at Kansas Wesleyan University and working for the Salina Public School District of 305. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, specializing in Graphic Design, from Kansas Wesleyan University. Throughout my journey, I have interned for Salina Arts and Humanities and free lanced throughout the Salina coummunity. It may not seem like much, but I promise there is always more than what meets the eye. Here are a few samples of my work. Enjoy your tour!
You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. Youre on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one wholl decide where to go... -Dr. Seuss

Smith Brothers is a family owned farm and ranch located in Southwest Kansas, producing milo, corn, and wheat. I designed a logo that would represent all three of these crops, plus a unique S that could be easily distinguished to represent the last name Smith.

The High Plains Showcase logo was created for a musical event held at the annual Smoky Hill River Festival, a project by Salina Arts & Humanities in Salina, KS. The aim of the logo is to appeal to all types of music. I focused on using a universal music note as the logos main visual and making the colors bright and fun, catching the viewers attention.

CIIC & KLEAN go hand in hand. Kansas Leadership of Education by Advancing Networks (KLEAN) is an organization consisting of five LEAN business members. They provide the Continuous Improvement & Innovation Conference (CIIC). The CIIC logo represents a continuous (Cs), improvement (arrow) and innovation (light bulb) concept. The KLEAN logo represents Kansas by the wheat stalks and the business concept 6sigma by the greek sigma symbol.

Loose Goose is a make believe wine that maybe some people wish really existed. This playful brand displays a half full rather than half empty goose with bubbles flowing from his beak. As you can see, the goose is quite polite. Who wouldnt love to grab this bottle off the shelf after a long, hard day?

The Smoky Hill River Festival is a project of the Salina Arts and Humanities. The River Festival spans three-and-a-half days in early June. The Festival is best known nationally for its excellent art and cultural programming, its relaxed, family-friend atmosphere, and the natural way in which many vibrant art installations and other key elements mingle, to challenge visitors in surprising and delightful ways. Displayed is the 2013 festival mailing stuffer and post card.

The Smoky Hill River Festival brochure displayed above is sent out to thousands of people to advertise the fun and vibrant elements of the festival.

The Kansas Wesleyan University International Student Guide was created for the acculturation of international students to American University campuses and communities. This booklet contains all of the following in the index listed above. It is intended to help international students have a smoother transition to America and particularly to Salina, KS.

LOVE WINS 5K was a one time remote race created by BJ Lehecka. A remote race can be ran wherever you are! All profits of this event went to charity: water (www.charitywater.org), a non-profit organization set out to make clean water a reality for some of the most vulnerable people on the planet. They are doing revolutionary work with biosand filters, water wells, rainwater catchments, and other brilliant, sustainable solutions. I was honored to create a logo and image that could be used to support such a great cause.

Salina Makes Sense

First Thursday Art Rush is presented by the Cultural Roundtable and Salina Makes Sense. The purpose of this event is to increase the level of excitement to current residents about life in Salina in regards to culture, recreation, education, healthcare, and business.

The Salina Board of Education approved a $110.7 million bond issue to be sent to voters in April 2014. The mail-in election would address district needs, including safety and security, all-day kindergarten, career and technical education and improvements at both high schools. This is a digital flyer to remind voters to get their ballots in before it is too late!

COWBOY was a typography project challenged by my professor to illustrate a word by its meaning. Being a farm girl, I chose the word cowboy.
