3 PRELIMINARY OPERATIONS: 3.1 Review and become familiar with the entire procedure before beginning the Calibration Process.

T.O. 33K6-4-3514-1

WARNING Unless otherwise designated, and prior to beginning the Calibration Process, ensure that all test equipment voltage and/or current outputs are set to zero (0) or turned off, where applicable. Ensure that all equipment switches are set to the proper position before making connections or applying power. WARNING Each technician assembling high or low pressure lines for test purposes must be familiar with all applicable directives and safety precautions contained in applicable OSHA STD 127-66 and T.O. 00-25-223. It is recommended that a protective shield be used during the pressurization of all Test Instrument (TI) up to and including 500 psi and mandatory over 500 psi. 3.2 Ensure the TI is on a firm, flat surface, in an area free of excessive air fluctuations. 3.3 Level the TI if required. 3.4 Ensure all connections are tight and not leaking before beginning the Calibration Process. 3.5 Ensure the reference points of the TI and Standard Dead Weight Tester or Hydraulic Piston Gage are at the same height when both the TI piston and Standard Dead Weight Tester piston are floating. NOTE Head correction is calculated when using either the Autoprompt or Piston Gauge Terminal. When using either the Autoprompt or Piston Gauge Terminal it is not necessary to calculate the head correction manually. NOTE If it is impractical to raise or lower the TI because of permanent mountings, safety, etc., the pressure head correction can be calculated in grams by using the following formula: Head Correction = [(H)(0.031 psi/in)(A)] [ 453.59237 g/lb] H A = Head in inches = The area of the piston installed in the gage with the lower reference plane. Area is in square inches. Areas of the Standard Dead Weight Tester pistons are obtained from the Report of Measurement. The Area of the TI piston is: Refer to Table 2.

3.6 The head correction, in grams, is added to the gage with the lower reference plane. 3.7 The weights of the TI must be rotated slowly and continuously when pumping up pressure. 3.8 For TI P/Ns ending with an L, correct to local gravity using the Piston Gauge Terminal or Autoprompt. For all other P/Ns correct to standard gravity. 2

T.O. 33K6-4-3514-1

3.9 For TI P/Ns ending with an L, annotate and attach a Certification Label stating: Calibrated for Local Gravity only. For all other P/Ns annotate and attach a Certification Label stating: Calibrated for Standard Gravity only. 3.10 Connect test equipment to an appropriate power source. Set POWER switches to ON and allow warm-up as required by manufacturer. 3.11 Use only those portions of the procedure applicable to the TI being calibrated. 4 CALIBRATION PROCESS: NOTE Unless otherwise specified, verify the results of each test and take corrective action whenever the test requirement is not met, before proceeding. 4.1 PRESSURE CALIBRATION: 4.1.1 Connect Standard Dead Weight Tester or Hydraulic Piston Gage, as applicable, to TI. 4.1.2 Install the first applicable Piston from Table 2, in the TI. 4.1.3 Install appropriate piston assembly in the Standard Dead Weight Tester or Hydraulic Piston Gage, as applicable, for the pressure being tested. 4.1.4 Bleed the TI and Standard Dead Weight Tester or Hydraulic Piston Gage. 4.1.5 Place weight equal to the first value for the installed TI piston listed in the Weight Sequence column of Table 2 on the TI. 4.1.6 Using Piston Gauge Terminal or Autoprompt, place weights required to obtain the applicable applied value on the Standard Dead Weight Tester or Hydraulic Piston Gage. 4.1.7 Operate hand pumps and rotate TI and Standard Dead Weight Tester or Hydraulic Piston Gage pistons until pistons float at the reference line. 4.1.8 Add or subtract weight to the Standard Dead Weight Tester or Hydraulic Piston Gage until pistons float at the same time. 4.1.9 After TI stabilizes, the Standard Dead Weight Tester or Hydraulic Piston Gage must indicate within the corresponding values listed in the Limits column of Table 2. 4.1.10 Vent TI and Standard Dead Weight Tester or Hydraulic Piston Gage to atmosphere. 4.1.11 Repeat steps 4.1.5 through 4.1.10 for each of the remaining values listed in the Weight Sequence column of Table 2 for the installed TI piston. 4.1.12 Repeat steps 4.1.2 through 4.1.11 for each of the remaining applicable Pistons listed in Table 2.
