2. Curriculum Analysis: The lesson is based on the curriculum of the TVTC Department: Communication Techniques Major: Telecommunication Course title: The fundamentals of communication This course covers the types of Signals,Bandwidth and their operations and passband and their relationship with frequencies, cut off properties, operations upon, the encryption types and characteristics and entrance in the types filters and processes them and their relationship with frequencies. Time: The credit hours 4.Contact hours in week, 2 hours for lecture and 2 hours for practice. COM 108
Cod:
Prerequisite: COM 107 3.Objective: a. General learning objective: The trainees: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Encouraged to help each other. (Affective) Ask questions about the topic. (Affective) Write clearly on the whiteboard. (Psychomotor) Interact with the teacher. (Affective) Cooperate and work together. (Affective) Summarize a lesson. (Cognitive)
b. Specific learning objective: The trainees: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Define what is bandwidth (Cognitive) Realize types of bandwidth. (Cognitive ) Define what is passband (Cognitive) Realize types of bandwidth in electronic communication . (Cognitive ) Solving mathematical questions for finding cut off. (Psychomotor)
4.Didactic Analysis:
Opening: Motivate the trainees by asking some (open question) to them about the lesson , and put some drawings and video to linked and make it related for my lesson.
Body: - I will start my lesson by asking about bandwidth the question will be" what are you know about bandwidth" Then, I will get the answers from the students and compare it with the answer that I have in lecture. In my opinion that will make the students active . -Then I will ask them about the passband and I'm sure that most of the students have prior knowledge about the passband. - I will compare the answers with the lecture and tell the student that we will focus on Cut-off frequency Where that is directly related to bandwidth. Then I will discuss with them what is the uses and applications of bandwidth in daily life. - We will discuss about the types of bandwidth in In electronic communication and computer networks Where the the bandwidth is used in both fields, and students should know well. - I will explain to the students the mathematical equations for bandwidth and cut-off frequency and I will give them mathematical questions in group work, Then the students should write the result on the whiteboard, The results should be Correct.
- I will show to them experience how can be measured the bandwidth of the computers and mobiles, Then we apply the experience with each other To ensure get and clarity information.
Closing: I will asked trainees what we learned in this lesson in Individual work. we will make short review about main ideas in lesson. 5.Content Analyses: Video Time! http://cutt.us/tYyr
What is Bandwidth ? 1) In computer networks, bandwidth is often used as a synonym for data transfer rate . It is typically measured in bits per second (bps).
2) In electronic communication, bandwidth is the difference between the upper and lower frequencies in a continuous set of frequencies. It is typically measured in hertz(Hz). bandwidth is sometimes refer to passband bandwidth.
Passband bandwidth is the difference between the upper and lower cutoff frequencies.
Cut-off frequency is a boundary in a system's frequency response at which energy flowing through the system begins to be reduced (attenuated or reflected) rather than passing through. Extra Information : Cut-off frequency = corner frequency = break frequency . ( Figure 1)
Applications:
Types of bandwidth : In electronic communication: Digital For digital signals , the bandwidth is either the data speed or rate, which is measured in bits per second (bps) Analogy For analogy signals, it is the difference between the highest and lowest frequency components. In computer networks: -Bandwidth Cap -Bandwidth extension -Bandwidth test
Equations: 1) In computer networks : Bandwidth = Bandwidth Buses * Frequency 2) In electronic communication: Bandwidth = upper frequencies- lower frequencies 3) Cut-off frequency:(Fc=12**T)
6.Lesoon plan : Opening / Entrance / Motivation Expected Trainer-action -The trainer will start the lesson by greeting. -The trainer will ask the trainees ( What you know about bandwidth? -The trainer will get the answers from the students and compare it with the answer that he has in lecture. Expected Trainee-action -The trainees will respond the greeting. - The trainees will retrieve the ancient knowledge and answer the question. -The trainees will analyze the answer and compare it with their answers.
