2009-10 Basketball Pre-game

1. Review recent new rules


a. Kick rule / Players ejected leaving bench if fight may occur / Continuous motion clarified / Retaining
run line privileges / Foul out sequence (coach, start 30 sec. & notify player) / Opponents vision rule (10-3-7)
b. Team Control Fouls – when do we not shoot FT?
c. Double / Simultaneous Fouls – Point of Interruption

d. Must keep jersey on – use judgment as to why shirt is removed


e. Offensive player leaving court – violation

a. Enforce coaching box
b. No huddle w/ coach during injured player or technical foul

c. Players stay out of center court during warm-ups & introduction


d. Proper wearing of uniform – tucked in, roll tops, etc…

e. Mercy Rule – 6 minute qtr., 40pt @ halftime (ask coach), 30pt @ 4th qtr

f. Lead covers ball below the FT line extended – “T” make certain that the “L”

9. Keys to a great game


a. Work the system (crew of 2 / crew of 3)
b. Call in your primary and trust your partners to do the same
c. Manage the game – highest level of concentration – softest touch

d. Clock awareness & Last second shot – everyone have an opinion

e. Find and referee the defense – see the start, middle & end of a play
f. Crew communication & eye contact
