$he Challen%es
$he city centre site is located some 5&m from the river 'ee and sub(ect to a hi%h tidal "ater table# $he site is bounded by several listed buildin%s # $he buildin%s are founded on poor %round and sensitive to vibration# $he site is confined and access is restricted

$he )e*uirements
$he site needed to be de"atered for the duration of the basement construction +,cessive "ater table dra"do"n needed to be avoided underneath nei%hbourin% properties -round movement and vibration needed to be ept belo" set limits#

Installation of perimeter secant pile "all to roc level /appro, 25 m deep0 1esi%n and installation of a perimeter de"aterin% system dischar%in% to the river# 2 rechar%e system to maintain the "ater table tables underneath the ad(oinin% buildin%s# 3 day "or in% durin% the critical e,cavation phase $emporary proppin% to minimise deflection of piles durin% e,cavation
