Valley High School - West Des Moines, Iowa High School English Student Teacher January 2014 - Present Plan and present lessons in Modern British Literature and Creative Writing based off unit plans on the Victorian Era and short stories that were designed utilizing the Understanding by Design Framework. Assist students one-on-one and in small and large groups on analyzing and interpreting literature as well as writing and revising poetry. Use differentiated instructional strategies, such as tiered activities, flexible grouping, learning contracts, curriculum compacting, and acceleration practices to meet the individual needs of learners. Align curriculum with the Iowa Common Core Standards and Benchmarks. Evaluate student growth using an evidence collection process. Use data-driven assessments to help inform instructional practices. Maintain parent communication through student conferences and direct contract through E-mail and phone calls.

Center for the Gifted, Summer Wonders - Glenview, IL Teachers Assistant and Teacher Summers and Winters 2009 - 2013 Worked as a Teachers Assistant during winter and summer school sessions in classrooms of K-5 graders. Interacted with gifted students on a regular basis and provide one-on-one time with challenged students such as those with sensory processing disorder and ADD. Interacted with the students parents reporting back to them on how their child was progressing.
