Personnel: At Tuesday evening's regular city council meeting the department's newest officer, Kristina Kohlmeyer, was officially sworn in by Mayor Ahlgren. We are excited to have her on board and wish her all the best in her career at CPD.

notified that Warren Everett King, 87 years old, of Carlton, Minnesota had later succumbed to his injuries and died. The investigation is being handled by the Cloquet Police Department with assistance from the Minnesota State Patrol. On Tuesday Cloquet officers and detectives responded to a residential burglary in the area of the Stark Road in the City of Cloquet. A laptop computer, cash, flat screen TV and a handgun were some of the items stolen. The scene was processed for evidence and the investigation remains open and ongoing. Detectives: On Sunday Detective Scott Holman and K-9 Raja were in Blaine, Minnesota for the annual United States Police Canine Association drug dog certification. Detective Holman and K-9 Raja scored 196 points out of 200 in their qualification efforts. Congratulations to both! This week Detective Holman and K-9 Raja were called upon by the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force to assist in a statewide joint investigation involving Heroin trafficking. The operation involved multiple state and federal agencies from Duluth, Rochester and the Twin Cities metro area. The operation went by the name of "Operation Exile". Thursday and Friday of this week Detective Berg attended a Death Investigation Conference which will provide criminal death investigators with knowledge that will assist them in their investigations.

Also recognized at Tuesday's council meeting was Jim Hagen, who served 40 years as a member of the Citizen Advisory Board. We thank Jim for his dedicated service to the department and community as a whole.

Patrol: On Wednesday Cloquet officers responded to multiple accidents due to weather conditions, including a two vehicle accident involving a commercial vehicle and a passenger car. The accident occurred on Avenue B near the entrance to Sappi. The driver of the passenger vehicle was transported to a local hospital by the Cloquet Area Fire District for injuries sustained in the crash. On Thursday our department was

Law Enforcement Recruitment Fair: This week Chief Lamirande and I took part in the 10th Annual Law Enforcement Expo held at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College. Thirtytwo agencies from around the state participated and offered information about their respective organizations to students interested in careers in law enforcement. Students got a chance to network and learn about job opportunities in the criminal justice field.

On Thursday Wade and I met with representatives from the County, Moose Lake and the Saint Louis County Medical Examiner's Office to discuss options moving forward with Dr. Puumala retiring from the county coroner's position at the end of the year. Miscellaneous: On Tuesday the Duluth Police Department hosted a meeting with new US Attorney Andrew Luger and local law enforcement at the Duluth Police Department. We were invited to take part in this meeting to discuss local drug trends and relationships with the US Attorney's Office. Luger
