Saint Michael Parish Mission Statement:
We the parishioners of Saint Michael the Archangel, through leadership and strong traditions
are faithful disciples of the teachings of Jesus Christ and His Catholic Church. We commit our-
selves to be generous stewards of our faith, our parish, and our community. We strive to involve all
members to be united in one parish family for the salvation of all.

Notes from the Pastor-Gods not dead! He is alive! He is risen! Alleluia! Congratulations for
renewing your baptismal commitment! It is always wonderful to be recharged, to be able to start
anew just like we want our cars and many other things to look new even if they are already old. Or
how we wish the mileage number in our speedometer can be reset. We are so blessed and thank you
Lord for your love, you give us this chance to renew our relationship with you! Last Holy Tuesday at
the Chrism mass at the cathedral, the priests in the whole diocese of Wichita including myself also
renew our vows and commitment to the priesthood. There at the mass were given special recognition
the priests jubilarians, those who celebrate their 25, 40, 50 and 60 years anniversary as priest. The
pastor at our neighboring parish Scammon, Fr. Chris Ah-maung celebrates his 40
th
year anniversary.
Please pray for him and congratulate him if you happen to see him or you can send him a note or a
card. You can also attend at his anniversary mass at St. Bridget in Scammon next Sunday, April 27

at 4PM. Another priest in Wichita, Fr. Hung Pham, a Vietnamese (you may not know him) celebrat-

anniversary. His beautiful story of his vocation is at the Catholic Advance website, enti-
tled Vietnam to Kansas. His life is almost like that of Blessed John Paul II. He was imprisoned by
the communist and forced to hard labor until he escaped to the Philippines then to the US! Read his

The Glorious Resurrection!
Happy Easter, everyone! I begin with a quote from St. John Vianney, the Cure
dArs: Today, one grave is open, and from it has risen a sun which will never be
obscured, which will never set, a sun which creates new life. This new sun is the
Crucified One, the Son of God.
The Resurrection of Jesus was a hidden event. Jesus didnt rise from the grave
to baffle His opponents, to make a victory statement, or to prove to those who
crucified Him that He was right after all. Jesus rose as a sign to those who loved
Him and followed Him that Gods Divine Love is stronger than death. To the
women and men who committed themselves to Him, He revealed that His mis-
sion had been fulfilled. To those who shared His ministry, He gave the sacred
task to call all people into the new life with Him.
St. Cyril of Jerusalem said, The root of all good works is the hope of the resur-
rection, for the expectation of the reward moves the soul to good works. Howev-
er, St. Thomas got to the source of the resurrection: For the human soul is im-
mortal, and continues after its separation from the body. Yet, union with the
body is essential to it, for by its very nature, soul is form of body. Without the
body, the soul is in an unnatural condition; and what is unnatural, cannot go on
forever. Therefore, the soul, which is perpetual, is not forever apart from the
body, but will be reunited to it. The souls immortality, seems to demand the
eventual resurrection day, the body will be rewarded with the soul, if our resur-
rection is glorious. The body and soul worked together in doing Gods will, in
glorifying Him, while on earth, so the two must be rewarded together. The oppo-
site, which God forbid should happen, also holds true.
Happy Feast of the Resurrection to each and every one of you. With St. Paul,
we can say that we are certain when our earthly dwelling, which is but a tent, is
destroyed, we have an edifice, made by God, dwelling not made with hands, ev-
erlasting, in the heavens! Christ outlasted the empire that crucified Him nearly
twenty centuries ago. He will outlast the dictators who defy Him now! God is
NOT dead! Theres a movie at Mall Cinema, Gods Not Dead, playing now. I
give it 5 stars! Article by Marcel Normand
