METHODOLOGY
The main job in this stage in relation with this equipment is to make sure that the equipment is working properly, then to pack all appliances to be several bo es so that they are rea!y to !eliver by air cargo "in this case #rom $akarta to %e!an&. 'nother preparation work is simulation. This job is such trial an! error step to !eci!e some parameters that will be applie! while !ata recor!ing in the #iel! "such as !epth penetration, electro!e spacing, electro!e array& that relate one to each other. (sing the ')I '!min package, the simulation result can be per#orme! as Figure 2.

2.1. Preparation

Figure 2. Sample o# simulation result an! the con#iguration o# recor!e! !ata I# the length o# the line to be measure! "in the #irst sprea!& is 8*+ m an! electro!e spacing is ,+ m, -enner array is applie!, the e##ective penetration !epth is about *.. m. The secon! sprea! o# the electro!e shall be /+ m overlappe!. Figure 3 shows a general illustration o# survey line, sprea!ing o# electro!es an! penetration !epth.

Figure 3. )eneral illustration o# survey line, sprea!ing o# electro!es an! penetration 0epth In rough terrain, topographic survey is require! to !eci!e the #i position an! elevation o# every electro!e along the propose! line. 1ater this !ata is

neccessary #or topographic correction to create the inverte! resistivity sections. 2.2. Field Work 0uring #iel! work some important points which shoul! be !one, are2 3able sprea!ing4 Receiver test4 3ontact resistant test4 0ata recor!ing4 0ata !own loa!ing, an! 0ata proccessing.

2.2.1. a!le "preading It is a har! work especially when the topographic con!ition is very rough. 5ach porter carrie! a roll o# electro!e cable o# *.. m long an! about 6. kg on his shoul!er. I!eally it nee!s ,7 men, the same number as the total cable rolls, while #our others brought an! arrange! the electro!e stakes in certain spacing. This SuperSting R8 is equipe! with +8 electro!e stakes. In this project there are totally *.., km long o# survey line with penetration target at *.. m !epth. So that 7. 9 7, times o# electro!es sprea!ing are nee!e!. 5very electro!e sprea!ing takes several hours to prepare especially in rough terrain. Figure # shows the con#iguration an! arrangement o# cables, electro!es, switch bo , battery an! receiver.

Figure #. 3on#iguration o# cables, electro!es, switch bo , battery an! receiver. 2.2.2.$e%ei&er Te't 5very time be#ore measurement the receiver test shoul! be run to make sure that 8 "eight& receiver work well. It takes a moment then the result will appear on the monitor. In the normal con!ition there value result o# each receiver is about ..+ :hm meter. 2.2.3. onta%t $e'i'tant Te't It is part o# important tests be#ore running this equipment. This test is to ensure that all electro!es are in a goo! contact to the groun! or earth. I# there is a problem with this contact, a man who is usually one o# the operators or

porters shoul! !o some treatment to improve the contact like to blow the stakes !eeper or a!! mi e! water with salt as the electrolite aroun! the stakes. It takes quite long time when the improper electro!e is quite away #rom the man position. 2.2.#.Data $e%ording -hen the result o# the mentione! tests are quite well, the !ata recor!ing can be starte!. There are some parameters that shoul! be chosen be#ore starting measurement, such as2 5lectro!e array4 3urrent nee!e!4 Tolerance error4 Rea!ing time, etc.

'll are computer controlle! #rom the centre. The length o# the !ata recor!ing !epen!s on the last mentione! parameters, but usually about one an! hal# an hour. The number o# recor!e! !ata relies on the type o# electro!e array selecte!. Recor!e! !ata are store! in the machine, an! they are rea!y to be trans#ere! to the P3 computer or laptop. (sing the -enner array, the number o# recor!e! !ata is about +.. points an! it takes about /, minutes to #ully recor! #or each line. 2.2.(. Data Do)nloading 0ata can be !ownloa!e! a#ter each recor!ing has #inishe!, !aily, or a#ter the #iel! work has complete!. (sing a special trans#er cable connecting the SuperSting (nit to the computer an! ')I '!min so#tware, this job can be !one very quickly. 0ata is in the ;.stg e tension #ormat that can be converte! to other 'S3II #ormat. 2.2.*. Data Pro%e''ing This step can be complete! very quickly a#ter the !ata has been trans#ere! #rom the SuperSting (nit, mainly i# the quality o# recor!e! !ata is goo! enough. -hen the !ata is some what poor, it can also be proccesse! a#ter some manual or statistical correction. This corection mo!ule is available in the so#tware. The ne t step is to apply inversion technique to pro!uce the inverte! resistivity section. These proce!ures are then applie! to other lines. These proccesses are con!ucte! using the 5arth Imager, the accompanying so#tware o# the SuperSting R8. The #irst result o# the inversion usually consists o# section #rom the top<!own, with no topographic correction. Figure ( shows e ample o# )eo<resistivity survey result.
