I. INTRODUCTION
1.1. Background According to a poll survey on Facebook, there are a large number of students being in single status, just a few get relationships. A question has been raised: What drives such a harassing situation? Therefore, Speed-dating event was organized to connect the students together, especially in two different universities, National Economics University and Hanoi university of Science and Technology. Joining this interesting event, students can practice how to control their date and make it pull off in their way. People taking part in our survey will also get great opportunities to go on a date with many other people in a very short time. Particularly, one person will be on a date with ten other students within 50 minutes. Some people may consider it as a challenge in regard to time limitation and a large number of partners. To run this event successfully, its essential to meet the students demands, which pushed us to conduct this research. 1.2. Rationale In general, the goal of this research is to examine the love expectations of students nowadays and then measure an effective speed dating event for students in 2 universities. Because of those reasons, we carried out our survey with the hope of understanding more about the tendency of choosing partners and discovering the needs of student for a productive dating event. 1.3. Scope Under the limitation of our research, our survey focused on students in two universities, National Economics University and Hanoi university of Science and Technology, so we just ask some representatives in both. It included 50 students from National Economics University and 70 from Hanoi university of Science and Technology. Two those universities are beneficial for our survey about location and convenience. Particularly, the close geographical distance between those two neighbors are convenient for the organizers to prepare for the event. Besides, the male majority of HUST may fulfill the shortage of masculine gender in BE. 1.4. Research Method The research is conducted via two instruments: off-line hand out and on-line questionnaire. We focus on on-line method due to its effectiveness in saving cost, husbanding human resource and diversifying research subjective. Secondly, we collected the data on books, magazines and different journals, internet sites. Finally, we use Word and Excel for our data processing.

1.5.

Research Questions The object of our survey is getting the students expectation as much as possible, so we focus on some following questions to understand more about students expectations including: 1. 2. 3. 4. What do the students generally think about love? What are their common desires for an ideal sweet-heart? What driving forces can urge the students to participate in a speed dating event? How can we organize a successful speed dating event?

II. RESEARCH DESIGN

To begin with, we built 13 questionnaires basing on our purposes and the survey participants expectations. Also, we added more pictures and some icons to raise the interests of students in responding to the survey. Furthermore, being aware of the different English level among students, we made two types of questionnaire, comprising one version in Vietnamese and the other in English. Taking a look at page 23 in case you need more details. After that, we carried out the research. At first, we delivered 15 offline handouts for BE girls and spread on lone link survey on 8 Facebook groups and pages. But after one week, the numbers of responses did not meet our demands. That led us to the decision of expanding on-line scope by asking support from our friends and relatives. Ultimately, after two weeks conducting the survey, we collected 120 results. Eliminating the invalid replies, there are totally 60 off-line and 52 on-line feedbacks. The data following is categorized and analyzed carefully.

III. LITERATURE REVIEW

Love, this heart- electable word has been heard and seen with a very high rate in humans whole life, evidently the top keyword with a huge amount of more than 1.5 billion results on Google Search Engine. However, could you define love exactly? In the recent small informal talk with some of female students, Faculty of Foreign Languages, National Economics University of Vietnam, they defined love is when you have no feeling of boredom seeing and talking to the opposite one. Another girl believed you love when you are worried about him or her more than you are worried about yourself. Obviously, it is so difficult to give an exact definition of love. This kind of emotion is so plentiful and complicated that people keep talking about it with full of excitement. Apparently, the interesting and attractive nature of love encourages the Speed-Dating event to be organized and this research to be carried out. Under the psychological perspective, Robert Steinber launched the Triangle Theory of Love (1986) according to which there are three components of love: intimacy, passion and decision/commitment. Love is more stable when two of you has a least 2 components. Speed-Dating event is mainly focused on passion aspect which gives you possible opportunity to find out your half through the first impression. In this part, you will acquire the deeper understanding about our decision to hold this event through 3 parts: assessment on current need for dating , the psychological analysis on both genders and the event management base. 3.1. General Evaluation on Student Needs for Sexual Events According to Thongkeinternet Vietnam official website, the Vietnamese Internet users has reached 26784035, accounting for 31% of the total population. Apparently, the emergence of smart devices as well as the wide-spreading indispensable role of Internet and media platform in both private life and public work has had transformative influences on social interaction of each individual, especially the college students. Additionally, it can be seen clearly that virtually all students did at least once attend extra curricular activities besides their studying. According to online documents on NCES Extracurricular Participation and Student Engagement (1995), virtually all public and private schools has a range of both academic activities and volunteer clubs. Moreover, there are thousands of NGOs and not for profit organizations available for students to join, to devote, to highlight their CVs and their social status. Thanks to that fact, young people should have gained numerous great opportunities, various encouragement and technical supports to widen their network. Nonetheless, humorously speaking, according to Valkenburg & Peter, 2009, p.1, Internet young people are just substituting poorer quality social relationships, for better

relationships. The Critical Review of the Impact of the Internet on socialization and its effect on the New Media Habits of the Modern teenager ( Kats blog, 2010) indicated that most students mediated social interaction is with their friends and people they already know through traditional face to face dialogues or communities of Internet, rather than perfect strangers. The majority of students use social networking sites to post comments to their friends blogs, Facebook walls or Flickr pictures for example. Clearly, students use Internet for building a better social relationship, for teamwork studying, or establishing a more fabulous personal identity. Generally speaking, the students do not often get a long term intimate relationship with strangers through online communications. This fact results in extreme interests of students in sexual events like dating events. Joining the events like this, the students can communicate with strangers, who may bring students the fresh love and romantic impressions. Some people may argue that why we can be so sure about the upcoming event's impact on the love status of students. Therefore, we should take a look at our evidences, which are carried out through the analysis on psychological analysis on males and females. 3.2. 4.1. Psychological Aspects of Gender Women In a blank book Everything Men Know about Women (Dr. Alan Francis, 1995), a funny shocking truth was revealed to stronger sex that they know nothing about weaker one. This fact may absolutely elevate felinity to the feelings of self-proudness or selfperfection. It seems that women are always saying one thing, yet their actions contradict their words. And so for thousands of years trying to unravel a womans mind, men still find it so hard to understand the opposite sex. However, there is a fact men should know about women for sure, that is, most of women are emotional (Martin Merrill, 2003). They love with their ears. Therefore, in the face-toface talk like speed-dating event, you will have opportunities to practice this theory and win the opposite sex, or at least make her like you then both of you can become a couple of good friend. Words have ability to create imagination, excitement and amusement that have great impacts on womens emotions. And they should be properly and warily used. In Martin Merrills book about winning the heart of women through humor, it is said that women are instinctive. They just take 3 minutes to make up her mind about whether the opposite man is Mr. Right or not. The study pointed out that women rarely changes their mind about a man after their initial reaction. I think a lot of people believe in trusting their instincts when dating. It makes it seem more magical, like its coming from somewhere deeper, Ben Kay, a famous writer with his first novel Instinct said. Therefore, there will be no doubt about the importance of the first impression between a male and a female. 8

4.2.

Men There are a lot of factors having strong impact on the decision of choosing the partners, but the most important one that we emphasize is psychological factor. Before choosing the partner, people often pay more attention in term of education, employment, external beauty, family conditions, especially education, employment. According to Sciencedaily.com, men primarily are motivated by good looks of the women. You are a rich man, people of course want to make friend with you, especially beautiful girls. Men often have strong feelings for his partner but sometimes he finds it hard to express his affection towards the female. Trying to dominate him or talking endlessly about your own personal problems will only cause him to become bored and restless. While women are often jealous, men are not, just few men. The website name http://www.lhj.com indicates a rising number of men who want to get married. In fact, 94 percent of American teenage boys plan to marry someday and 92 percent plan to have children, according to a 2002 Gallup poll. Those numbers are up to 10 percent from 1977, and slightly exceed the percentage of teenage girls who want the same. One guy said: "I want to have a girlfriend that in our marriage, we try to make it 50-50 as much as possible. She cooks, I do the dishes. She keeps the checkbook, I clean the bathroom. The speed-dating event is established based on these sides of psychological science and itself feasible for both sides to seek out an ideal lover. One more essential elements we would like to mention about is event management.

3.3.

Dating Event Management Event planning is the process of planning a festival, ceremony, party or convention. On the basis of triangle scope pattern (contain 3 elements: time, cost, quality) in book A project management primer, (2006) written by Nick Jenkins and investigations on distinctive features of a dating event, this session will be developing four relevant aspects of event management including: events goal, schedule, project budget and events main activities. First and foremost, it is critical for any events to specify its goal. Terry Schmidt stated on strategic project management made simple that: the fresh approach begins with clearly understanding what and why of a project-comprehending the bigger picture goals that are often given only lip service or cursory reviews. In particular, this dating event is for blank candidates-who are looking for dreamed lover. The notion of speed-dating was mentioned first in the US Jewish single community (circa 1998) as: speed-dating is a fantastic new way to date, meeting single who also love fun single events. It can be seen that, grasping an events purpose is the platform leads to the formation of an event, it define what the event are trying to accomplish and why.

Secondly, the dating event needs to be carefully scheduled. Nick Jenkins (2006) noted that there are five rules of scheduling: rule 1, dont commit to something you cant deliver; rule 2, eliminate uncertainty wherever you can; rule 3, build in plenty of contingency to cope with variation; rule 4, pick the right level of granularity; rule 5, scheduled for the unexpected. Likewise, Fujita & Miura, (2009) suggested some steps to construct timetable for an event, for example: Begin with the basic deciding on the date, time & place of the event. After that, you can get into the nitty-gritty of the event logistics including the physical layout of and needs for the event .. Be sure to note who is responsible for those items and the costs associated with them. Its worthy noticing that the reserved solutions should be counted on to ensure that any suddenly arising matters are under control so the event can proceed until the end. In addition, being able to afford for all activities requires the events budget is well managed. Application to organize a dating event, the executors first should cost the project and then prepare an appropriate budget secure the required funds. Virtually, there exists more than one way to have enough money, some suggested approaches would be: asking for investment, for sponsorship, or credited money from candidates... a detail and careful budget project will help even planners design a suitable program, actively adjust the plant when necessary. The last point to be considered is activities for the event. A dating event is for seeking lover as a result it has to present itself as an interesting, romantic and appealing to make participants feel happy and comfortable. The US Jewish single community (circa 1998) claimed that: the speed-dating hosts also promote singles parties with different themes including dinners, dances, and other creative ideals involving prizes, giveaways, prize draws and competition. Or Remember that events are better than there is an element of surprise because experiencing the unexpected makes things fun & memorable according to Fujita & Miuras opinion. All in all, event management plays a crucial role in determining the success of an event. These above presented views are assembled from various sources it would be useful, reliable and applicable tool to build up, control and execute an event in general and a dating event in particular. 3.4. Conclusion In short, the literature review have successfully drawn out a general picture about demand, interest and practical perception of youngsters in general and undergraduates in particular toward love and attendance a dating event. Besides, it emphasizes the significance of having a specific preparation together with an applicable strategy in constructing and implementing an event. These facts and figures acts as a background knowledge, an useful channel to be referred and strictly followed in process of operation a dating event as a whole. In more detail, this research is suggested to employ these theories in selecting the most suitable

10

undergraduates and apply an adequate approach in hosting a dating event to make it really outstanding, qualified and profitable.

IV. DATA ANALYSIS AND FINDINGS

Students are the target subjects of dating event. To guarantee the success of the dating event, it is essential to find out psychology of this group. This session will be going to discover students attitude and expectations towards love as well as assessments about their present relationship basing on analyzing figures. We analyzed 112 valid results by sorting out them into three groups. The first group is a combination of question 1, 2, 3. Dissecting the responses, we detect the general perspectives of students over the matter of love. 4.1. The General Students Opinions in Love

The graph describes inclination in selecting heart images of students. The given heart images represent students attitude toward love. Figure 2.1 shows that most students rate for image 3 which accounts for 44.64 % and image 2 which accounts for 25%. In fact, these 2 images define the people who are optimistic and eager to meet their lovers in the coming time. A smaller number of students, which accounts for 17.86 %, select image 2. These people often take a cautious attitude toward love due to some painful

12

experiences in the past. They also require certain standards for their partners. Of all the survey participants, only 12,5 % choose the image 4, which represents the love depression . Obviously, just a few students consider love as a complicated notion. It can be inferred from the charts figures that a larger number of students fascinate in having a committed relationship with the opposite gender during the rime at university.

Clearly, an overall trend shows most students feel happy with their contemporary state. 51% overwhelming proportion of subjects feels contented and wants to maintain their existing status. Up to 35% and 17.5% of students fairly satisfy or completely satisfy with their situation. Surprisingly, 15% students feel dissatisfied with their current status are also the ones who complete the personal information and feedback blank very detailed. Therefore, they must be eager to establish a new relationship. In conclusion, the graph shows that most students have positive feelings with their current status whereas many are excited in finding their sweetheart.

Figure 3 is about average duration of a relationship. Clearly, the typical length of a relationship is usually in months or years. The largest percentage of time for a couples bond lasting for one, two or many years takes up to 35.71%. Following, the number of relationships surviving months dominates 30.36% of the graph. 14% students reveal that their bonds just ended after weeks. Hence, there is an irresistible tendency to have a stable relationship amongst youngsters. The findings from the question 1, 2 and 3 pointed out that students generally express their enthusiasm about seeking their lovers, their desire to improve their current status and expectations in embarking on a committed relation. These analytical findings lighten the bright future of a successful speed dating event. Last but not least, survey analysis also reveals some orientations for the Speed dating event, through the question 9,10,11,13. 4.2. Event Expectations From the data collected from the question 9, we can define the appropriate fee to join the event.

From the above chart, it comes as no surprise that the choice D (over 50.000VND) is the least preferable amount of money, which just account for 14, 29 %. This result is quite predictable because our segments are the students. According to the psychological factors, the students rarely tend to choose the highest amount of money in any questions. Furthermore, covering other essential expenses like tuition fee, the accommodation fee may also prevent them from spending quite a lot of money into an entertainment event. Surprisingly, the chart also illustrates that the largest percentage (33, 93%) of option A and C double strikingly the option B (16,07 %).It means that most people consider 20.000 30.000 and 40.000 50.000 as the worthy entrance event fee, instead of 30.000 40.000. These figures show us the 2 big classes of students with the quite different financial ability. Some readily spend quite big money while the others do not. From these statistics, we can conclude that the entrance fee should be 40.000. In addition, the data collected from the question 10 also helped us to choose whether using the codes or not for the event.

Figure 5: How People Choose The Code Which They Prefer to Describes Their Current Status

As it can be seen clearly from the chart, the number of people that satisfies with having no special codes in the event is the biggest in total. Some person even commented on the box that coding is a great idea but it is a little bit complicated. They want to seek out the most convenience in a speed dating event. Nonetheless, while option No code made up for 33, 93%, the Clothes code and Others still constitutes large percentage, with 26, 79% and 21, 43% respectively. These figures demonstrate that a large number of people still enjoy the coding idea. Due to the time-limited of a survey, people just had not decided yet which code is suitable and convenient for them. Therefore, we decide that the upcoming event still has the special code, but the code should be simple and related to the smaller items. Moreover, the replies for the question 11 and 13 draw the students expectations.

Looking at the result of the question 13, we can see clearly that the number of people choosing option No and Yes are the same at around 42 %. Supports from organizers may be not a necessary part in a speed-dating event for a lot of people. Nevertheless, the chart of the question 11 implies that students have a tendency to seeking their self-experience when joining in a speed dating event. The number of people choosing this choice makes up for 50% of the total. This means that most people truly expect to attain quite new dating experience.

Figure 7: What Students Look for in Such an Sexual Event Like Speed-Dating

This fact leads us to conclude that we still need to prepare the back-up plan of supporting after the event, such as personal information of the partner or schedule for another dating. On the other hand, we just carry out these plans in case some participants ask for. For example, before we begin the event, we will want to know if students would like to share their private information or not, and we will just give their personal contact for the ones who are too shy. In conclusion, the data collected from the survey support us a lot in finding the expectations of students on a speed-dating event. Consequently, receiving such positive feedbacks helps increase the success rate of our event. Hopefully, we can plan more effectively as well as efficiently. 4.3. Tendency of Choosing a Sweetheart of Students in 2 Universities Each person has their own standard model of people they like or love. This is undetermined. However, the question being posed is about the inclination of the choice. Under the boundaries of the research, we only conducted the survey primarily on students in Business English K53 Department of National Economics University of Vietnam and Hanoi University of Science and Technology. Despite of this small scope, the result pointed out a surprising and an interesting fact through 2 aspects: external and internal characteristics: appearance and personality.

Figure 9 shows the trend of selecting students sweet heart in regard to personality. One-fourth of survey participants fill another option to demonstrate tens of attractive characteristics for their partners, such as funny, easy-going, caring, subtle in communication. Besides, this chart demonstrates that students tend to hypnotized by the excellent studying record while this choice also dominate 25%, the highest percentage. Likewise, people tend to set a higher priority of talent and kindness than wealth and finance. To make a stronger assertion that generally students nowadays have not only various but also a higher level of requirement for their partners, we list below some sample answers of participants for the question writing down 3-5 words describing the characteristics of their ideal lover. Perhaps some of them could not restrain and fill more than the necessary number of words. Kind, confident, humorous High, intelligent, gentle, kind Good-looking, high, shining smile, quite stupid, caring, helpful Frank, honest, gallantry Gentle, kind, funny Smart, romantic, financial stability Lovely Cute, long hair Cold, manly, handsome Matured, smart, dynamic Childish, gentle, often-laughing Psychological

In a nutshell, playing host to a speed-dating event can be defined as organizing activities to create a space for people to widen their intimate network. Consequently, if event organizers understand and predict what students concerns, the record of event supporters and participants may soar. 4.4. Findings In conclusion, the data analysis of the questionnaire responses enables us to answer the 4 research questions. Firstly, the students mostly feel excited about love opportunities. Secondly, regardless of different expectations about an ideal partner, the major attractions to students still focus on intellectual value, the natural beauty and the kindness from the opposite gender. Thirdly, a speed dating event may reach the flying success if it can adapt well to the unexpected requirements and meet the demand of its targeted students, with the appropriate fee as well as the rapports indeed.

V. RECOMMENDATIONS AND CONCLUSION

5.1. Achievements We are so glad that after a long time conducting the research, we gain a lot of remarkable achievements. The achievements may be beneficial for 3 aspects: the researchers, the event organizers, and the participants. The researcher: Completing a research and submitting the report help us to experience the tasks of a market researcher, to enhance our organizational skills, the logistics and time management skills as well as to improve our teamwork competencies. We also reached a considerable scope with 120 students, collected 112 effective responses from both direct hand outs and online method. Moreover, we also fulfill the purpose, the rationale of the research and submit the assignment on time. The event organizers: Undoubtedly, findings analyzed from the collected data supports us a lot in case we organize a real speed dating event. This assignment brings us a great opportunity to explore some crucial event requirements. Also, using our report, the success rate of any speed dating event may be put up. The participants: Frankly, when conducting the research, we receive lots of positive feedbacks. Our 2 version questionnaire and the speed dating event idea truly raise the strong interests in some students. We are proud to claim that our research can give the happiness and excitement to survey participants. 5.2. Limitations: In the progress of conducting our survey, we also have some limitations. First of all, the number of boys and girls are not balanced. Most of the participants to fill in the handout are girls. Because of this reason, we had to equalize the number by looking for all boys in Hanoi University of Science and Technology. Secondly, some students did not have much time, so they had to complete our questionnaire in a very short one, reliability is not high. Besides, statistics just takes the relativity. In data collecting, we processed and calculated out the final figure for the reader to be easier to understand. Finally, because of location, we all just focus our survey on students in two close universities, which makes scale of the survey is relatively small. 5.3. Recommendations Under the limitation of this research, we only focus on love between male and female, that is, in detail, the NEU and HUT students expectations of an event with love involved

called Speed-Dating. The event was inspired from the combination of team members favorite topics: psychology, event management and women. According to our data analysis from survey questions and evaluation, this part will provide you some recommendations on not only plan for a successful speed-dating event or a likewise event in the future but also some techniques that help you to deal with the opposite sex more effectively. Crucial key for any successful speed dating event is an effective market research No one can have a precise measurement for the participants in any occasions, especially in unusual events for students like speed dating one. As it can be seen clearly in our data analysis, lots of our predictions is far from the reality. Hence, the market researcher and event organizers should always have good time management, deep understanding about their event objectives as well as possess an extensive sense for the participants and overall environment. Essential techniques For Both Men And Women In The First Dating Our report demonstrates the tendency of choosing partner amongst students from 2 universities. At the first glance, people are easy to be fascinated by a charming smile and an excellent studying record or working experience. Hence, before the first dating, people should practice to have a beautiful smile, to pose the cheerful, confident outlook and prepare some intellectual topics.
