When Are the 1xEV-DO Rev A Parameters Negotiated/Obtained?

During day-to-day activities of an AT in a 1xEV-DO Rev A system

Every AT must first acquire a 1xEV-DO Rev A system. 1xEV-DO Rev A system can optimally page the AT for incoming traffic. Unlike BE application, VoIP requires faster paging.

Acquire System
Register with the System

After system acquisition, every AT must negotiate a session with the 1xEV-DO Rev A system. Session Negotiation may vary based on ATs capabilities.

System Page

Every AT must monitor and update Periodic Overhead Messages in both Idle and Connected state.

Keep up with the System

Access 1xEV-DO Rev A system to establish air link recourses.

Send & Receive Data

Send and Receive Data. The criteria to maintain the data call: - Maximize throughout for BE applications - Minimize latency and jitter for VoIP - Optimize handoff delays for all applications

Access the Unlike BE application, VoIP requires faster system access. System

Setup Call Set up air link recourses and IP address. Context

Unlike BE application, VoIP requires: - Air link QoS Flows with certain characteristics - Auxiliary A10 Flows between PCF and PDSN
