LINUX REFRESH DNS Restart the nscd daemon, which manages the DNS cache, by typing the following

in the terminal: /etc/rc.d/init.d/nscd restart. WINDOWS XP Click the Start menu button on the Windows taskbar. Click Run... on this menu. If the computer is holding a current IP address, type 'cmd' (without the quo tes) in the text box that appears. A command prompt window appears on the screen . Type 'ipconfig' (without the quotes) to view the status of the computer's IP address(es). If the computer is holding a current IP address, type 'ipconfig /release' to let go of the address. Type 'ipconfig /renew' to obtain a new IP address (whether or not the comput er is holding a current address). Tips: If it is not necessary to view the current IP addresses on a computer, simpl y type 'ipconfig /release' or 'ipconfig /renew' (without the quotes) in the text box that appears in Step 3. To bring a computer back onto the network after moving it to a different loc ation, or experiencing an unexpected outage, first release, then renew the IP ad dress. Computers on DHCP networks often (but not always) re-establish network co nnectivity automatically. Windows 7 Click the Start button. Enter cmd in the Start menu search field. Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator. Type the following command and press Enter: ipconfig /flushdns If the command was successful, you will see the following message: Windows IP configuration successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache. Windows Windows 8 While on the desktop, press Windows Key + X. Select Command Prompt (Run as Administrator). Type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter. Windows Vista/ Windows 7 Windows Vista requires that you run the command prompt in Administrator Mode to perform these functions. To start the command prompt in administrator mode: Click Start.

Select Programs. Select Accessories and locate the Command Prompt shortcut. Right click the Command Prompt shortcut and select Run as Administrator from the drop down menu. Continue with the Windows XP directions (step 2) below. Windows XP Click Start, then select Run and type CMD in the Run box. A command prompt w indow should open on screen. Type ipconfig /release in the command prompt. Wait a few seconds for a reply that the IP address has been released. Type ipconfig /renew in the command prompt. Wait a few seconds for a reply that the IP address has been re-established. Type ipconfig /flushdns in the command prompt. Close the command prompt and attempt to make a connection.
