Theinstitutionhasbeenprovidingpost secondaryeducationalopportunitiessince 1945,whenitwasfoundedasVallejoJun iorCollege,apartoftheVallejoUnified SchoolDistrict.In1967,theCollegebe

UniversityCenteronTravisAirForceBase, attheSolanoCountyAirport(Vacaville), andatotherlocationsthroughoutthe County,asneeded. TheCollegeoffers91associatedegrees and40certificatesofachievement.More than1,100degreesandcertificatesare awardedeachyearandbetween450to 600studentstransfereachyeartocam pusesintheUniversityofCalifornia,Cali forniaStateUniversity,andotherinstitu tionsinsideoroutsidetheState. AroundthreequartersofSolanostudents areparttime,takingoneortwoclasses eachterm.Currently70%80%ofincoming studentstestbelowcollegelevelinEnglish andmath.Thestudentbodyreflectsthe Countysethnicdiversity,withAfrican Americans,Latinos,andFilipinoscompris ingthelargestethnicgroups.
