About the Registry The Airborne Hazards and Open Burn Pit Registry is a database of health information about Veterans who may have been exposed to smoke from burn pits or oil-well fires and other air pollutants during deployment. OEF\OIF\OND and 1990-1991 Gulf War Veterans may voluntarily participate in the registry by downloading a mobile app and completing the online questionnaire. The questionnaire can be used to report potential exposures and health concerns as well as request a medical evaluation. What will I Need to Register? You will first need to download the Airborne Hazards and Open Burn Pits Registry App on either a Smartphone or tablet. Once the app is downloaded, you will need your Department of Defense Self-Service Logon (DS Logon) to begin the questionnaire. How do I obtain a DS Logon? You may apply for a DS Logon account at https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/appj/dsaccess. A DS Logon is a secure, self-service logon ID that allows Service members and Veterans to access several websites using a single username and password. What Should I Know About the Questionnaire? We estimate that the questionnaire should take up to 30 minutes to complete. The questions have been designed to give us a broad picture of your health and current and past exposures. You will be asked a series of questions in the following categories: Deployment dates and bases in which you were stationed Conditions and health issues that cause difficulty with daily activities Information about your sleeping habits such as snoring or breathing patterns

Current and past health symptoms Residential history Occupational history Dust, gas, vapors or fumes exposures Home environment and hobbies Health Care Utilization Contact preferences

Is this Registry Related to Disability Compensation? VA provides compensation to Veterans who are at least 10 percent disabled because of injuries or diseases related to their active military service. This compensation and the burn pits registry are separate and unrelated programs. Participation in the burn pits registry and any medical evaluations related to it does not confirm a Veterans exposure during service for purposes of a disability compensation claim.
