open to active SkillsUSA members enrolled in programs with automotive technician or automotive service technology as the occupationa[objective.

lnspect, repair and replace cooling, heating and air conditioning components and systems b, !.denJify, check, service and repair various electrical systems including charging, lighting, ignition, cranking accessories and electronic components Diagnose, service and repair steering and suspension d. Diagnose, service and repair brake systems a Analyze exhaust emissions, test and replace emission system components f. Diagnose problems and repair fuel systems g, lnspect, adjust, service and replace drive train component parts including standard and automatic transmissions and transaxles, differentials and universal joints h. Demonstrate ability to read and use service publications Demonstrate safe and proper use of industry tools and equipment. 3. Contestants will be tested on a variety of vehicles commonly'assembled in the United states. This may incrude both domestic and import vehicles. 4. Contestants will be judged on quality, safety, accuracy (in comparison with factory specifications), workmanship (proper use of tools and equipment), and ability to follow instructions and procedures. 5. Rating sheets will be devised for each specific skill requirement as determined by the technical committee. The written test will be included and will account for no more.than 33 percent of the total points possible. Clothing penalties will be no more tnan five percent of the total points possible. 6. opening CIeremony, all contestants must attend the contest briefing and lll:!the bring your typod resume to the contest briefingl The following day all students are taking the written test. Half the contestants will rotate througi the competition work stations and the other half will take the test, ln the afternoon the contestants will switch from test to competition stations or competition to testing so all students complete both, 7. Contestants will be identified by number only. 8. The contest is open to three students from each school, based on test scores. o Any.transferring of information from one contestant to another will disqualify both contestants. 10. Contestants will use only the tools provided for them. 11. lf one contestant is waiting to rotate to another test station, he/she will wait quieily and not talk with, or disrupt other contestants. 12. U_pon completion of a workstation, contestants will leave the workstation area as directed. 13. Safety glasses shall be worn at all times.
