THE STORY SO FAR
----------------
Another quiet sunny day dawns over the magical land of Cartoonia.
Suddenly.... the silence is broken!?... `Help... Save me` cries princess
Lady Bug; it`s the evil... her cry becomes too faint to hear as a large
dark figure carries her off into the distance.
The king is very upset about the disapperance of his daughter and calls
upon the creatures of Cartoonia to save the princess from her terrible
fate. The journey that lay ahead would be very dangerous, and not all the
lands in the kingdom had been explored. There were stories that strange
creatures lurked in these lands and that many of them did not respect the
king and were, therefore, banished to the outer regions.
He presents the sacred magic pens and eraser that were once used by the
humans who created Cartoonia, to a brave bug like creature who steps
forward. `This is the only help I can give you but remember dude; dont
dawdle... doodle`.

GAME OBJECTIVE
--------------
You must negotiate each of the lands in turn in a given time limit, if you
are to save the princess from her fate. You may get clues by talking to
some inter-active characters in the game; or buy vehicles with your gold,
which may or may not assist you in your quest. On each level is a door
which, when opened, will transport you to a new area within the land. On
completion of a land you will come up against the end of level
boss-guardian whom you must defeat in order to pass to the next stage.
THE MAGIC PENCILS AND ERASER
----------------------------
Blue Pencil: Throw this pencil to draw an umbrella, which will slow any
falls you have. An umbrella is stored for use automatically when you pick
it up and will only be used if you have fallen from high platforms, ect.
Red Pencil: Throw this pencil to draw a red balloon which allow you to float
gently upwards when picked up. Beware if you goto high as the balloon will
burst on its own. You may also burst it at any time by pressing the fire
button whilst the balloon is in use.
Green Pencil: Throw this pencil to draw a potion bottle containing Green
liquid which will give Doodlebug a protective force screen around his body
for 15 seconds. This will allow you to pass any creatures without being
hit.
Yellow Pencil: Throw this pencilto draw a stop watch, which when picked up
freezes all creatures ect. for 10 seconds. You can still be hit and lose
energy if you hit a frozen creature.
Remember to pick up an object drawn with a magic pencil as soon as possible
as their energy fades and they will disappear quickly. You may also use
magic pencils to kill creatures by throwing them directly at them. This is
also a useful way out of some tight spots on vrious levels, but do not
waste them. To avoid wasting magic pencils, you are able to throw another
pencil of the same type if one is currently in use,or in the case of the
umbrella pencil-if you have one stored for use already.
Eraser Bomb; Throw the eraser which will then explode up to three times in
a starburst pattern killing any creatures that its fragments hit. Very
useful on the boss stages. But as with pencils-do not waste them.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
SPECIAL CONTROLS
----------------
Spin Attack - Doodle Bug may kill creatures by either throwing a magic
pencil or eraser at them as mentioned earlier or by performing a spin
attack. Push up on the joystick and then press the fire button... While
doodle bug is spinning you should aim to land directly on top of any
creature nearest you. At this point the creature will take a hit or explode
and release a bonus which you can pick up for points.
VEHICLES
--------
If at any time on your adventure you are able to buy a vehicle, the control
method via the joystick will vary slightly to suit the current mode Doodle
Bug is in. You can enter and control a vehicle by jumping into it, at which
point the control method may change to suit - ie using the submarine under
water. You may move up down left and right only, but cannot select a pencil
to throw with `down` movement as before. You may leave a vehicle at any
time by pressing the fire button.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
BONUS OBJECTS
-------------
Apart from traps and surprise features such as springs ect. In each land,
many other objects may be picked up.
Head Butts - These are small yellow boxes with a big smile on them, which
contain a multitude of random bonus items. Jumping directly up under a
yellow head butt will cause it to release a random bonus object, at which
point it will turn grey and will cease to be of use. Head butts may also be
of use as platforms to reach other areas in some lands, and greedy players
may find the going harder if they use every head butt they find.
Gold Coin - Adds 1 credit to Doodlebugs gold
Money Bag - Adds 10 credits to Doodlebugs gold
Pencils - Adds 1 pencil to the type picked up, to Doodlebugs pencils
Eraser - Adds 1 eraser to Doodlebugs erasers
Pencil Sharpener - Adds 1 of each pencil to Doodlebugs pencils (Handy eh)

extra time to complete part of land.

the next part of the land.

Small Heart - These will power up doodle bugs energy to a maximum of 5
times. The highest level of energy showing on the status bar as a green
heart. Any small hearts picked up while doodle bug has full energy will be
transformed into bonus points.
Switches - These may be turned on (green) or off (red) and will cause
something good or bad to happen. It`s up to you to find out which.
Remaining chances. You are given the option to continue the game from your
current position, if you should lose all your lives. You only have 3
