1 Introduction
The Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Government of India, has entered into a
Technical Cooperation Project on Conservation and !staina"le Mana#ement of E$istin#
and Potential Coastal and Marine Protected %reas& (CMP%) The CMP% project is s!pported
"y the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, 'at!re Conservation, (!ildin# and
'!clear afety ((M)(), and jointly implemented "y the MoEF and the *e!tsche
Gesellschaft f+r Internationale ,!sammenar"eit (GI,)-
The overall o"jective of the project is to achieve improved management of selected
existing and potential coastal and marine protected areas, leading to improvement of
biodiversity and the living conditions of the local population.
To achieve this, the CMP% project e$pects to achieve three main o!tp!ts "y the end of the
project.
/ utput-I! *esi#n and introd!ction of approaches in the participatory
mana#ement of areas desi#nated for the conservation of "iodiversity-
/ utput-II! *evelopment of capacity stren#thenin# systems for s!pportin#
participatory mana#ement of protected areas in selected states and at the national
level-
/ utput-III! *evelopment and dissemination of information, ed!cation and
comm!nication content for a0areness raisin#, p!"lic relations and policy dialo#!es-
To f!rther stren#then its 1no0led#e "ase, and "ased on recommendations made "y its
cientific and Technical %dvisory Gro!p (T%G) the project see1s to s!pport dedicated
research pro#rams in the field of the follo0in# su"#ect areas.

2 Eligibility
%cademic and research instit!tes, non3#overnmental or#ani4ations and individ!al e$perts
are eli#i"le to s!"mit project proposals- <nly Indian nationals 0ill "e eli#i"le to apply- The
project proposals need to address one of the su"#ect areas listed a"ove- The intended
project period shall not e$ceed t0o years-
3 Selection process
3.1 Expression of interest
Interested parties are invited to s!"mit a Concept 'ote 7 E$pression of interest using P$RT
B of the current document- The Concept 'ote shall s!pply the follo0in# information.

the intended field 0or1 7 if any 7, the method of analysis to "e applied, and the e$pected
o!tcomes, accompanied "y a timeta"le and an itemised "!d#et-
