This paper looks at the hindrance on a childs emotional and academic level
foster care has on children. Although really its the lack of stability in foster care
that hinders a child because as they develop they look at the adults in their lives
on how to behave and interact with people, as the paper explains, if the adults are
always changing then the child doesnt know who to look to or how to act.
"Steps to Become a Foster/Adoptive Parent." (TARE). N.p., n.d. Web. 1 Apr. 2014.

This source provides a detailed step by step of what prospective foster/adoptive
parents will go through in order to adopt/foster a child, having gone through the
experience myself I know it takes a while and the meetings provide more
information than the site. The main focus is whether parents are not only capable
of raising children, but raising and caring for children who have come from
unique circumstances of abuse and neglect like most children in welfare are.

Brodzinsky, David. "Stress & Coping Model, Adoption from the Inside Out, & The Meaning of the
Search." The Psychology of adoption. New York: Oxford University Press, 1990. Print.
This collection of academic papers focuses on the loss surrounding adoption. The
main types of loss discussed were loss of biological parents and trust and stability
with adopted parents when a child is told theyre adopted. For those that are not
told or for those who are told at a young age and dont understand it the loss is
unknown and is harder to accept for these children its the loss of the precious
fantasy that he is and always has been wanted. It also points out the adopted
childs attempt to reach out to the biological parents is an attempt to repair that
loss by understanding the circumstances of being given up.
