For my Circulating Critical Edition Portfolio for Composition 101 class, I chose to
prepare a website highlighting essay drafts and final copies completed throughout the course of
the semester. I chose to go with a battle theme for my website. I chose to use as battle theme
because it represents war for essay 1 on How to Tell A True War Story in ways that when one
think of war they think of a battle, also in No Mask an Essay on the short story No Face by
Junot Diaz, battle represents the psychological burdens that the young boy in No Face had to
endure while living in the Dominican Republic, and in the story A Good Man Is Hard To Find
by Flannery OConnor, battle is represented when the family in the story comes face to face with
the Mistfit and loses a battle. In Shooting an Elephant by George Orwell, Orwell lost a battle
in Burma by becoming a puppet to the British Government, and finally in the Platos Allegory
of the Cave the prisoners lose their battle with reality while being imprisoned.
On the cover page of the website I chose to set the text color at a red to represent fire
using 12pt font and I set the cover photo of a beast covered in armored battle gear to represent
the fight at battle. I also included a picture for each story or poem that was used in my circulating
portfolio to put a face in front of the story, and for the internal design I outlined first draft and
final essays of my peers and me using the same color scheme as the cover page for every
continuing page. For the layout of my website I have a Table of Contents with an outline of the
work that can be viewed on my website.
In my first essay Have You Heard a True War Story? I had to edit a few details by
adding a title for my essay and altering my MLA technique. I did a great job on telling one how
they would know a true war story. My second essay The Mask is a compare and contrast essay

that tells of the similarities and differences between the young boy in No Face by Junot Diaz
and George Orwell in Shooting an Elephant. In my essay The Mask I altered my second
page by explaining in detail the psychological burdens that the boy in No Face faces in his
society and how Diaz illustrates those afflictions. In my creative response on A Good Man Is
Hard to Find by Flannery OConnor I chose to create a poem illustrating Bailey, the son in the
story, point of view and his input on his mothers involvement of their Unforeseen destination.
I had to add description of the road by telling of its dusty red color. I also added Baileys notions
about the Mistfit and his perception of him before their journey came to an end, and lastly I did
my reading responses on How to Tell a True War Story, No Face, and Platos Allegory of
the Cave.
