Taihenjutsu is 6ery important 7or the martial artist. The key point o7 the Taihenjutsu is
that you use it escape5 7rom the attack. The Taihenjutsu can $e use% to attack. There
are many 6ariations o7 Taihenjutsu.

$icep with the palm 7ace towar%s the 7ace.
NOTE:
Ichimonji no Kamae5 has the rear han% in Shuto. >In Koto Ryu? 7or 0igi Seigan5 your
han% is place% in 7ront o7 you5 pointing at the a%6ersary5 an% the le7t han% is place% in
such a way that protects you 7rom potential attack. @6en though this is 0igi Seigan no
kamae5 in reality your min% an% heart can assume Kage no kamae 1Sha%ow position25
which can $e Ichimonji no kamae5 oko no kamae etc. &ou are rea%y 7or any type o7
attack. Since this is calle% Kurai Dori5 7oot positioning $ecomes 6ery important5 an% is
crucial 7or proper %istancing. This will help 7ree%om o7 mo6ement.
2. MI-I SEI-AN NO KAMAE

The Kamae is the same as i%ari Seigan no kamae5 $ut in 0igi.
NOTE:
I7 the 7eet are not capa$le o7 mo6ing then this is not a true Seigan.
For the Seigan no kamae, the lead hand is placed so that it will protect you. Even
though you are in this kamae, your heart and mind must be in Kage
Kamae (Shadow posture). As ou can see, this le!t Seigan no kamae is
di!!erent !rom the illustration you saw be!ore. "his posture is what
your heart is !eeling. #ith this posture, you attack and strike the
hidden target.

NOTE:

protect mysel7 no matter what?. :hen some animals meet their enemy5

NOTE:
This posture contains the mental attitu%e < /ome anytime. The 7oot positioning o7 the
Koto Ryu is 6ery important in Kamae. It will also help with %istancing. This will also
gi6e you 7ree%om o7 mo6ement. Right han% is in 7ront an% le7t han% is on the hip. &ou
are rea%y 7or any attack any time. Since this is Kurai Dori >9roper positioningA your

catch the kick with the right han%. Turn to the right 7acing .ke5 an% kick with
Sokugyaku keri into the $ack o7 the insi%e le7t thigh5 or up into the $ase o7 the spine.
3rom here %rop the le7t 7oot into .kes le7t 1supporting leg2 thigh. Kick an%=or push
him to the groun%.
2. SEI-AN NO KAMAE
i%ari Seigan no kamae. 4s .ke mo6es 7orwar%s with a Bo%an Tsuki5 &oko 4ruki

Turn to the le7t5 an% slam the right 7oot into .kes ri$s5 an% slapping oshi5 then %rop

4. ,OKO NO KAMAE

han% pushing it %own. The right han% goes to 0ura Same with either Ryu Ken5 or

,orin5 an% steps with the le7t 7oot5 an% pushes with the le7t han%. The le7t han% gra$s
the top o7 the #o5 an% strikes with a Do .chi.
NOTE:

NOTE:
I7 you resist the throw an% hol% on he will throw you.

Dower your weight as he tries to throw. Strike with Nio Ken to Shichi$atsu5 then pi6ot
the hips an% Nio Ken to the right Kaku 1insi%e o7 the knee2. Then strike with a Nio
Ken upwar%s to 4sagasumi. I7 you are close use Kikaku Ken to 0en or Kasumi.
3. KOYOKU

steps 7orwar% with the right or le7t 7oot5 keeping close to .kes $o%y5 the le7t han%
%rops un%er .kes arm. ToriAs le7t 7oot steps through5 with or without a right step5 Tori
throws with either ,anseki5 or a 4ruki Seio 1walking shoul%er throw2.
NOTE:
:ith his 7irst attack un$alance him. 4s you walk take more o7 his $alance. In this
techniCue5 use all intention o7 in7licting %amage to .ke. The ,anseki can $e %ropping
to the le7t knee an% turning to the right. The 7irst Nio ken stops him hitting you again.

.kes right arm5 the Butte is hel% 6ertical with the sha7t against the $ack o7 the muscle.

NOTE:
The Koppo Ken is a 6ertical rising strike. Kick hori;ontally across the 7ront o7 .ke an%
Tori. These two strikes must cross. This is important.

han% 7rom the lapel5 an% starts the 'mote ,yaku5 an% strikes to the insi%e o7 the $icep
with a right Shukki5 7inish 'mote ,yaku.

.ke gra$s ToriAs collar with the right han%. Tori steps out to the le7t an% %oes a right
.ra Shuto to .ko. I7 .keAs grip is still strong5 Tori sinks %own5 an% places the right

applies 'mote ,yaku.
