B. Summary of the Lesson Plan:
Today is the last day of the unit so the students will have two minutes to present their piece
to the classroom newspaper.
C. Basic Information:
Grade Level: 2nd
Time to Complete this Lesson: 50 minutes

H3.2.6A Read and discuss news events in the community.
o Student-Friendly Standards
I can read and talk about the news thats going on in my neighborhood
or community.

F. Vocabulary
None new
G. Procedure:
1. Ill start by asking the students what the important of a newspaper is.
2. I will then give them 10 minutes to get their work together to present their piece for the
classroom newspaper.
3. Everyone hands in their work after they have presented.
4. If there is any more questions about the news, I will answer them now.
H. Assessment:
What will you use to measure student understanding?
I will use the verbal answers the students give me as well as their work.
Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from the lesson.
By looking at their work, I can tell they understood the idea of the news and how
important the news paper is by the story they have chosen or made up.

I. Closure:
Remind the students that they can find the newspaper in person and online. Mention
to them that it is never bad to make sure they know what is going on in the world every
day.
