This social studies lesson is for 3rd grade students to learn about prices consumers pay when buying goods or services. Students will learn the relationship between supply and demand. Learning the importance of free enterprise in the United States and different kinds of producers. This lesson uses the Houghton Mifflin 3rd grade Social Studies teacher edition textbook: Communities (p.286- 289). Materials needed: tokens, prize for each student in class (Ex: chocolate kisses) and 3 index cards per student.

Students will do an activity that lets them advertise their own item and come up with price of their item as well. Coins or paper currency from the Unites States Coins or paper currency from the other country or countries. Objects that students can pretend to buy. (Erasers, pencils, paper, crayons ect.) Magnifying glasses for students who want to take a closer look at the physical of the money.
