The JCI Philippines Public Speaking Contest offers members a unique

opportunity to exercise and showcase their abilities and to share ideas on issues
of particular importance to fellow members.
speech competition requires a special kind of public speaking! challenging
participants to express creati"e ideas in a clear and capti"ating manner. #"ery
well$prepared speech should ha"e an introduction that captures the attention of
the audience! a body featuring the speaker%s message! and a powerful conclusion
summari&ing the speaker%s arguments.

The competition is intended to gi"e the finest speakers an opportunity to compete
for greater recognition and challenge. 'ational contest winners are encouraged to
compete at the JCI rea Conferences. The winner from each JCI Conference is
then expected to represent his or her rea in the final round of the JCI (orld

The rea Training 0irector with the coordination with the rea 1ecords and
1ecognitions 0irector will set a suitable "enue! preferably one that is conduci"e for
Public Speaking 2isolated and quiet with controlled temperature3 and is directly
accessible to the main Con"ention rea. The "enue should! preferably! be within
the same area of the said acti"ities to ensure that the contestants will ha"e their
4ocal )rgani&ation president and members from their chapter present to gi"e their
support.

The competition should fall on the afternoon on second day of the rea
Conference at +/**pm , 5/**pm or directly after the 6eneral ssembly or on any
other date within the rea Conference period that the rea Conference
committee will deem it fit.
Awarding
The 'ational Chairman will be sending the rea ward to the rea Training
0irector a week before the rea Conference is due to begin. fter the rea
Competition is completed! the chairman of the 7oard of Judges should keep the
identity of the winner in utmost secrecy and this will only be re"ealed during the
wards Ceremonies on the next day.

The panel of 8udges will consist of three 293 members duly selected by the rea
Training 0irector whose names will be submitted to the 'ational Chairman

These three members should be selected with the following criterion/

.. Contestants shall address the gi"en topic during the JCI Philippines rea
Conferences.
+. 4ocal )rgani&ation shall enter only one of its members at the JCI
Philippines rea Conferences.
9. The 4ocal )rgani&ation and the Contestant must be in good standing with
JCI and the Contestant must be of JCI age.
5. Contestants must speak in the #nglish language.
>. Contestants shall speak for a minimum of fi"e 2>3 minutes and no more than
se"en 2-3 minutes. If a contestant speaks for less than fi"e 2>3 minutes or
more than se"en 2-3! the Judges shall disqualify that participant.
?. Contestants must be registered for the conference in order to participate at
the championship.
-. #ach 1egion from each rea should ha"e at least one 2.3 entry to represent
them.

; The winners from the +*.* JCI Philippines rea Conferences will
automatically participate in the JCI Philippines 'ational Con"ention in
Tacloban! 4eyte and the 'ational Champion will then compete in the JCI
sia$Pacific rea Conference in @anila! Philippines.
Speaking Format
; The speaking format will be decided by the Chairman of the Championship
or any representati"e thereof! by drawing the names of the contestants
randomly. The first name drawn will correspond to the first speaker! the
second name drawn to the second speaker and so on! until all names ha"e
been exhausted. This procedure! known as the ASpeakers 0raw!B shall take
place on the e"ening preceding the championship at a time and place
chosen by the Chairman of the Championship and announced at the
6eneral ssembly.

Chairman of the Championship.
; Such "erdict! once announced! shall be final and indisputable.
The winner of each rea championship shall be announced at the
respecti"e Conference wards Ceremony. The winner of the final
round of the JCI 'ational Con"ention Public Speaking Championship
shall be announced at the +*.* JCI Philippines 'ational Con"ention in
Tacloban! 4eyte! Philippines.
Chairperson o0 the Championship
; The rea Training 0irectors will ser"e as the rea Chairpersons for the
said e"ent based on the recommendations from the respecti"e 'ational
#xecuti"e <ice Presidents.
; The rea Chairpersons will be responsible for the smooth and efficient
running of each Championship.
; The rea Chairpersons shall be responsible for the appointment and
training of suitable ad8udicators. The Chairperson alone shall appoint the
Chairperson of the ad8udicating panel.
; The Chairpersons will be shown e"ery courtesy and respect.
