Mission: The mission of the RCDVTF is to collaborate with the local community and public school systems to create proactive citizens in response to domestic violence cases.
1. Raise students awareness of what constitutes healthy and abusive dating relationships. 2. Raise students awareness of dating abuse and its causes and consequences. 3. Equip students with the skills and resources to help themselves or friends in abusive dating relationships.

How Does It Work? The Safe Dates presentations provide youth and adults with:
1. A ten-session dating abuse curriculum. 2. Parent materials and resources. 3. School trainings provided for guidance counselors on domestic violence counseling and services available.

One in four women experience domestic violence in their lifetime. Every year, approximately 15.5 million children witness domestic violence in their home. Children who live in homes with domestic violence are at risk for child abuse or child neglect. Children exposed to domestic violence also have higher risk of health problems. Witnessing violence between ones parents or caretakers is the strongest risk factor of transmitting violent behavior from one generation to the next. Boys who witness domestic violence are twice as likely to abuse their own partners and children when they become adults. Almost one-third of female homicide victims reported to law enforcement are killed by an intimate partner. In 70-80% of intimate partner homicides, no matter which partner was killed, the man physically abused the woman before the murder. What is domestic violence? Domestic violence is a pattern of intentional behavior used in a relationship to maintain power or control through physical, emotional, economical, psychological, or sexual means.
