After singing Christmas caroIs,

wrapping and opening gifts,

sending and receiving greeting
cards, here we are, facing the
new year as we step towards
another new beginning. Time
fIies, they say. It seemed just
Iike yesterday when we Iisted
in our minds (if not on paper)
the new year's resoIutions we
strived to achieve in 2006: Ios-
ing weight, studying EngIish
harder, becoming more organ-
ized, going to the gym reguIar-
Iy, and a Iot more promises to
ourseIves. The resuIts couId
have been a frustrating feeIing
of faiIure or regret. But for suc-
cessfuI ones, it's victory over
" seem- t o- be- i mpossi bI e"
dreams. What's great about
not being successfuI with your
goaIs set in 2006? 2007 is
here! With good intentions and
an achievabIe pIan, we can stiII
attain our dreams and resoIve
to change our ways to better
ourseIves.
Some peopIe set their goaIs for
the good of others but often
negIect the importance of
starting with themseIves.
SimpIe things mean more
when they're done unseIfishIy,
but we aIways have to remem-
ber to start with ourseIves
before we give others a hand.
In this first Zoni Voice edition
of 2007, we wiII review our
pages of fun during HaIIoween
and Christmas as we greet 3
important events this quarter:
New Year's, Martin Luther King
Day, and VaIentine's Day!!!
There's a beautifuI Iife ahead

inside these pages. So read

SmiIey faces from the Vancouver campus

By Joern Hornhardt, Director of Marketing and
Communications, Zoni Pacific-GIobaI Language Centre
Recently, Zoni Language Centers merged with Pacific-Global
Language Centre in Vancouver, and, as a result, has expand-
ed its roots outside of the USA for the first time. Now known as
Zoni-Pacific Global Language Centre, the Vancouver campus
joins an impressive and established network of Zoni schools
already located in New York, New Jersey, and Miami Beach.
Like all Zoni campuses, the Vancouver campus is home to stu-
dents from many countries, and the facilities feature 10 spacious
and bright classrooms, a student lounge, a kitchen area and a
large patio. The small campus creates a safe and personal
atmosphere where students and staff come together as a big
family. n addition to a wide range of general ESL and special-
ized adult and youth programs, students take part in exciting
activities on a weekly basis. Depending on the time of the year,
activities range from water rafting and skiing to sampling differ-
ent restaurants and attending cultural events throughout the city.
The location of Zoni Pacific-Global Language Centre is, simply
put, excellent. Nestled in downtown
Vancouver, the school is close to everything
that one may desire to do or see. Shopping,
entertainment, historic and popular parts of
town, beaches, Stanley Park, major sport
and concert venues as well as restaurants
are just a few minutes away on foot or by
bus (many of the major bus and sky train
routes are nearby).
Vancouver itself is known as one of the few cities in the world
where you can ski, golf and sail on the ocean all in one day. t
is because of its exceptional* natural setting, cultural diversity
and ability to cater to any individual's interests that make the
city so popular amongst international students.

Centre, please call us at (604) 684-8843 or e-mail us at

Educational systems are organized differently from
country to country. The educational systems in
Canada and the United States may be very different
from the system in your country. This article is intend-
ed to give you a better understanding of the education-
al systems in Canada and the U.S.

All public education in Canada is paid for through taxes by
the provinces and territories, and it is available to every citi-
zen. t consists of optional* nursery schools (usually paid for
by parents), mandatory* kindergarten and 12 years (or 13
years depending on the province or territory) of elementary
and secondary school (also called high school). The typical
student receives a secondary school diploma at 17 or 18
years of age.
Most children start going to school when they are 4 or 5. By
law, they must attend school until the age of 15 or 16, depend-
ing on where they live. Because Canada is a bi-lingual coun-
try, the language of instruction is either English or French.
While most of Canada receives English instruction, in Quebec,
almost all newcomers must attend French-language schools.
Most children in Canada attend public schools; however, a
small percentage (about 5%) of students go to private schools,
which charge private-school fees.
n the United States, education consists of one or more
years of preschool (or Nursery and pre-K), kindergarten and
12 years of elementary and secondary school (also called
high school). The United States does not have a mandated
curriculum for secondary schools or a national examination.
However, educators apply a common set of standards for
assessing the basic competencies expected of secondary
school graduates. The typical student receives a secondary
school diploma at 17 or 18 years of age.

n Canada, this first level of post-secondary (after high
school) education includes two-year and four-year pro-
grams. Two-year programs generally lead to a diploma.
Diplomas may be earned at community colleges, technical
institutes or at university colleges or even at universities.
There are also options for students to transfer from a two-
year diploma program at a college to a four-year degree pro-
gram at a university. n most individual cases, credits may
almost always be transferred between post-secondary insti-
tutions. To help students with their choices and options,
many counselors are available at each institution.

At present, Vancouver certainly is the city of my
dreams! Before decided to come here,
researched a lot for the best country to go to and
stay for a year studying English and at the same
time, a place where would have new experiences
both in my personal life and in my work life.
The beginning was so difficult for me and believe
that the beginning is difficult for all students that
arrive here or have already left Vancouver, but
when the days pass by and you start to meet new
people, make new friends, learn about new cul-
tures and visit new and amazing places, you final-
ly find yourself and really start to live.
All chapters of my life here have been incredible
and so different from my life in Brazil. The first
chapter was when arrived here and was anxious
to know about the house that would live in, the
host family, the bedroom, the food and a lot of
other little things, but for me these little things were
too big and important at that time.
After this came the second chapterthe first day of
school. t was another anxious day, but when
arrived, though was with new friends, in a new envi-
ronment, and with new teachers, everything felt as if
were in my country, in my house, with my friends
and started to get accustomed to* everything.
As you start to walk and ride to every place and
visit beautiful parks like Stanley Park, you begin to
enjoy life. Here in Vancouver there are lots of
nature, forests, totems from many years ago, won-
derful beaches and amazing mountains around the
city. n Vancouver you can do and practice any kind
of sport that you prefer.
For the people who like the night life, Vancouver is
perfect! There are many bars, pubs, nightclubs,
good restaurants etc. The night
life here is very secure and has
diverse attractions for different
people such as drinking, danc-
ing, dining, karaoke etc.
Now 'm living in an apartment
with friends and 'm studying
English and working in a Hotel
to get experience related to the
Hotel Management course that
did in Brazil.
Well should finish here,
because have to go to Stanley
Park with my classmates and
my teacher. We will see the
nature, the animals and breathe
the pure airand will write a
new chapter of my life here

t is commonly said that Vancouver is one of the
most comfortable cities in the world to live in.
think that's true. There actually are not too many
people living here and there are lots of things that
meet your desire - for example, in winter you can
go skiing or snowboarding. The mountains are
near and it just takes you 20 or 30 minutes from
Downtown. There is a big stadium called B.C Place
where in summer, basketball matches are held and
in winter ice hockey, which is the most famous
sport in Canada, is played. B.C Place is near
downtown and is just about 5 minute walk from
Zoni Pacific-Global Language Centre.
Let me talk about the weather in Vancouver. We
have so much rain in the winter season, but you
can find a lot of blue skies in the summer. The air
is so good and you can feel the freshness of the air
in Stanley Park, the largest park in Vancouver
which is located next to downtown. After the sun
sets you can see an excellent sight with all the
lights aglow.
Have you heard that Canada is a bilingual coun-
try? n Canada, the two main languages are
English and French but here in Vancouver you can
hear a lot of people speaking many kinds of lan-
guages - Chinese, Spanish, Korean, and Japanese
and so on. A lot of people around the world plan to
immigrate to Vancouver. That's why Vancouver has
become not only the most comfortable city but also
the most multicultural* city in the world.
Now let me talk about student life in Vancouver.
We meet a lot of students from all over the world.
Downtown Vancouver is so compact that one can
easily find out where to hang out. We communicate
with each other and have fun drinking beer after
school or in the weekend. Our school is located in
downtown and we can find lots of fun activities
there like bowling, karaoke, billiards etc. There are
two gymnasiums where we play basketball and
soccer with our friends. One of the gymnasiums is
so near it is just a 10 minute walk from the school.
t's interesting to play basketball with the students
from other countries and Canada as well. And here
in Vancouver we can also go to many night clubs
with friends, talk a lot, dance a lot and practice our
English.
Also, there are many school activities after school
hours which provide a chance to make new friends
in the school and again to practice English a lot.
These are events held by the school. Sometimes
we sing at the karaoke, at other times we go to play
billiards. Once in a while we dine out together or
watch a movie. This weekend we'll go to Seymour
Mountain to do snowboarding and skiing.
Life as a student in Vancouver is so much fun. 'm
just enjoying the most wonderful life in the most
comfortable city in the world.

When was in China researched a lot of informa-
tion on the nternet about Vancouver. saw many
beautiful pictures about the Vancouver scenery* and
heard that the people here were very friendly to for-
eigners. So that's why chose Canada and this city.
still remembered when got off the airplane. My
homestay parents gave me a big hug. The hug
made me feel very warm and happy so that didn't
feel sad about leaving my country and afraid of
staying here by myself. Actually, they regard me as
their own child. They give me a lot of help about life
and study. We often have different topics of con-
versation when we all have time. They also help
me to correct my pronunciation.
When came to this school, felt very excited
because the teachers and staff are very friendly to
me. When entered my classroom, my new class-
mates introduced some information to me and told
me what should do. When had lunch knew a lot
of friends here because they always asked me
some interesting questions. Though we came from
different countries, we still act like a big family.
wasn't allowed to speak my mother language here
so have to speak English all the time. Thanks to
this rule my English ability has improved lots.

First of all, Vancouver is a very safe place to live in.
've never got into trouble with strangers. The peo-
ple are really nice and friendly. They always try to
help others and love it. Many of my friends have
had great experiences in Vancouver and that's why
feel Vancouver is safe.
Secondly, we can have many kinds of food here.
When am tired of junk food, can have some tra-
ditional Japanese food. also enjoy eating many
kinds of foreign food from other cultures.
Thirdly, Vancouver is really very beautiful. There
are so many places to visit - for example Capilano
Suspension Bridge, Stanley Park, English Bay,
Grouse Mountain and so on. Every single place is
so awesome and beautiful and love all of them.
would really recommend everyone to visit and
study in Vancouver.
Also, there are people from many countries in
Vancouver and can get to know about many
nationalities and cultures. can hang out* with
them after school - drinking, going out to night
clubs, parties and so on. That's a very cool experi-
ence for every international student like me.
Finally stay at a home which was chosen by my
school. They are very nice Canadian people and
have learned so many things about their culture
which had not known before. really appreciate
the things they have done for me and taught me.
have been having great experiences in Vancouver
and would suggest that others come here too and
learn and experience a lot of things.

Vancouver is a pretty nice city with beautiful places
and rich culture. After one week was able to walk
around the city by bus and skytrain and felt secure.
On my first month lived in homestay. The family is
from the Philippines and they are so kind. love the
ZPLGC because could make a lot of friends from
all around the world there. At ZPGLC met a
Canadian superstar called Jody. Everybody who
visits Vancouver should know Jody.
On weekends always go out with my friends. We
usually eat in Japanese restaurants or drink in rish
Pubs. One day was walking on the streets and
saw Pamela Anderson in front of a restaurant.
Generally, some of the most important moments in
Vancouver are the time that spent with my friends
doing some school activities or visiting beautiful
places. remember two of these moments. When
went to the Aquarium on Stanley Park and when
went to the Halloween Parade. n Vancouver am
learning about other cultures, making good friends
and improving my English in a easy way.

Drugs are multiplying faster than ever
and getting increasingly popular. Why
does it have a great appeal on
teenagers? Pull up a chair and take a
look at my view about drugs.
Doing drugs is like riding roller coasters,
and gives a heart acceleration that
causes some people to escape from
their own fears and problems. From a
little child to a grown man, we, human
being, always aim at mastering that fear
and anxiety by working through it but
why some people just can't do it and
slide to a horrible* life by using drugs?
Drugs have a great appeal on
teenagers because they are required
to conform* to a system that insists on
keeping them out of the mainstream of
society so they are not allowed to do
all sorts of things that the society does-
n't approve so it releases some of the
frustration and stress they have.
n every society at every time there are
always people out on the edge who
are just not socialized or developed to
the point where they are able to man-
age their rights in a more reasonable
way, so you get criminal behavior and
more extreme kinds of actions.
We need excitement in our life, some
heroes or extreme creatures to rescue
from our phobias* and i believe fear
causes drug use. f we don't want to
face with the problem it just means that
we are scared of the problem and those
teenagers who are on drugs want to
have a momentary* happiness and get
rid of their fear even for minutes.
Doing drugs, having a little moment
without stress, is the easiest and the
most comfortable way to forget the
problems and relax. Those drugs go
into the blood and makes them uncon-
scious. Some of them forget who they
are, and it makes them forget their
problems but the moment that stuff
leaves the body is the moment of the
reality so it's like throwing stones to a
wall even though you know it's going to
come back to you.
Many of us fight with the life and can
handle the problems by facing them
but unfortunately some of us are too
immature and scared to live sober and
fight consciously.
We, human beings, should be able to
master our mind and have to be in con-
trol of our life to have a healthy and
happy society. Everyday is different
from each other only if we know how to
colorize it and make rainbow that will
rescue our society from drugs.

Culture is the complex whole which
includes knowledge, belief, art, morals,
customs, and any other capabilities
and habits acquired by people through
the history.
Everybody has a different culture and
different values. Since we all have
been living here, to be "Americanized"
is the term that has been talked about
in these days. To live in the USA and
not to acquire the way that Americans
live is not possible. Somehow we are
being "Americanized" in a way. Since
came here, have realized how real
life is. First of all, had never worked
before came here. Because in Turkey
families are always trying to do their
best to take care of their children until
they get married. Young people don't
have to move their even a finger since
everything is prepared for them.
However, in the USA someone who
arrives the age of 18 has to know how
to stand on his own feet. Since came
here, have been aware of this idea.
feel much more independent. Also in
the USA everybody has to be so fast
because nobody has time to waste.
"Time is money." This is the proverb
that mentions the importance of time.
That is why prefer something fast and
easy such as having fast food. Since
came here, my life has changed a lot.
am always in a hurry and don't real-
ize how the time is flying. think it
comes from the atmosphere of being
here. Secondly, 'd like to mention the
differences between American and
Turkish culture based on the experi-
ences that have had.
The concept that Americans live with is
completely different than the concept
that we live with. For example, we
value the idea of "many hands make
the light work" whereas they believe
that "too many cooks spoil the broth".
One of the most important value of
Americans is ndividualism. As a result
of this, independence is another
important value for them. However, we
practice the idea of all for one, one for
all in our daily life, in our society.
Coming together is the beginning,
keeping together is a process and
working together is a success for us.
All in all, it is not impossible to keep
our values or culture while living in
another country. The key is to be will-
ing to do so. Culture is the shared way
of life including the way of thinking,
acting and feelings. A person who
denies his/her heritage is condemned
to learn to practice it.

Dear Harold,
I'm living in a basement in Brooklyn
and my owner's family are living
upstairs. Then, I'm suffering from
the noise of them. It's not too much,
but sometimes I can't sleep very
well. But I don't know how to say to
them because I want to keep a
good relationship with them.
Could you give me some advice?
Brown Girl
Dear Brown Girl,
Don't bang on your ceiling with
a broom in the typical
American tradition! Speak
politely with your neighbors
about the problem, live with it
or start hunting for a new
apartment.
Sincerely,
Harold
Dear Harold,
I have some problem about cof-
fee. I always drink coffee when
it's break time. I didn't drink it
much when I was in Japan. But
since I came here, I can't stop
to drink coffee. That's big prob-
lem for me because I need
some sugar and milk for my
coffee. But sometimes,
although I don't feel like drink-
ing coffee so much, I buy it. I
don't know why. How can I
stop to drink coffee everyday?
Purple
Dear Purple,
Drink some Green Tea. The
anti-oxidants are good for you
and will help you stay young!
Sincerely,
Harold
Dear Harold,
I'm not good at cooking and
sometimes I feel very annoyed
with cooking. My cooking is
beneath me but I have to cook
everyday. Of course I can eat
out but that spends so much
money and also not good for
my health. Could you tell me
how to cook simple, easy, and
delicious menu?
Gourmet Girl
Dear Gourmet Girl,
Don't eat out! A recent study
says women that eat out gain
12 pounds more a year. Try fry-
ing a lean* piece of beef,
London broil, for example. Skin
and cut up a red potato and
deep-fry it in olive oil with a
clove of garlic. Serve with your
favorite vegetable and catsup.
Eat TV dinners and frozen, pre-
pared foods when all else fails!
Sincerely,
Harold

Students may also choose a more "hands-on"
approach to their studies by attending technical
institutions. These primarily focus on trades or other
programs that require a more practical curriculum,
and many programs come with extensive work-
related terms.
n the U.S., this first level of higher (after high
school) education includes two-year and four-year
programs as well. Two-year programs generally
lead to an Associate's degree. Associate's degrees
may be earned at two-year community colleges, or
at four-year colleges or universities. There are two
types of Associate degree programs: transfer pro-
grams, which provide the first two years of general
education, after which the student can transfer to a
four-year program for two more years, and voca-
tional/technical (sometimes called "terminal") pro-
grams, which prepare students in only two years for
a trade or technical job.
Four-year colleges and universities in both Canada
and the U.S. offer programs that lead to the bache-
lor's degree. The first two years usually are spent
in courses that give you a broad foundation for
future specialization. They may include English
composition, history, science, mathematics, lan-
guages and social sciences, plus some courses
determined by your chosen field of study. The last
two years are usually devoted to an academic con-
centration (also called a "major"). Five years of
undergraduate study may be required for some
fields, such as pharmacy or architecture. A few
institutions offer only the last two years of under-
graduate study. n the U.S., these are called upper-
division institutions.

n both Canada and the U.S., graduate study fol-
lows the completion of undergraduate education or
the bachelor's degree level. Graduate study leads
to the master's or doctoral degrees or to profession-
al degrees such as law, medicine and dentistry.

A master's degree in Canada generally requires one
to two years of full-time study, and a student gener-
ally has to focus on a thesis, which is stated by the
students themselves. n addition, the master's
degree student may also have to serve time as a
Teacher's Assistant (TA), meaning the student helps
out a professor on the faculty of his/her study. As a
TA, there may also be a few lectures that the student
has to teach to undergraduate students.
n the U.S., a master's degree usually also requires
one to two years of full-time study, and may include
a mandatory thesis, depending on the discipline and
the program. Three-year master's degree programs
also exist.

n Canada and the U.S, doctoral degrees require at
least three years of full-time study, and with some
research projects, may take longer.

n both the U.S. and Canada, first professional
degree programs generally require at least three
years of study after the bachelor's degree.
Admission to certain programs at all degree levels
can be very competitive, and, in the case of the
U.S., some first professional degree programs limit
admission to applicants from U.S. colleges only.

Once upon a time,
there lived a man
who had a small
electric factory in the
deep countryside.
The factory, which
was his first business,
went completely bankrupt,* because the
factory manager made a false tax
return.
Anyway, the factory manager's wife was
very beautiful. She had bright brown
hair and delicate hands. However, she
had a bad habit. One day, the man woke
up early in the morning. But his wife
hadn't slept. He asked her, "Why aren't
you sleeping?" She said, "ZZZZZZZZ!"
She was sleeping with her eyes open.
So, she looked like an awake doll. t was
a frequent event.
He thought that would be his new busi-
ness idea. t was an automatic doll.
The doll's eyes are opened when it is
standing and its eyes are closed when
it is laid down on a flat surface. t was
very popular because of the surprising
idea and the cheap price. Finally, he
became a rich man.

t was a normal day for Alex in Mexico
City. He was married and had two
daughters. He was driving to home but
a few minutes before arriving, he had an
accident where he died instantly.* So
Alex's soul crossed the line between the
earth and the sky. That was the begin-
ning of a new life.
When he was in the sky, the first person
who he saw was Saint Peter. Saint
Peter told him: ''Welcome to the sky.
see that you've been a successful and a
good man.'' They went to a garden and
they talked about Alex's life. Alex knew
that he had a beautiful family. He
remembered all his life, since he was a
kid until he became a successful man.
He did great business with his brother
Jaime and he took his pick to buy a new
house in a suburb, because where they
lived in a dangerous neighborhood
where a lot of crimes happened. n one
of those crimes, his neighbors were
gunned down* and the killer put the
blame on Alex, but they went to trial.
The judge said that Alex was innocent.
Saint Peter went away and then came
Saint Valentine who told Alex that he
had been a good man and that he had
loved his wife. He asked him to remem-
ber when he met her. Alex said " met
her in school, we went to the same
classroom together. was crazy about
her. She was so beautiful. love her."
And he began to cry because he
remembered the good and bad things
that they lived together. For example
when their daughters were born, but
talking about his daughters, he was too
jealous* as every father is. He never
had anything against his daughters'
husbands. We know that every father
always wants the best for his sons and
daughters. Alex remembers a good
experience with his daughter, Maria.
When he was teaching her how to drive,
they took the car and started out at their
house. The first thing that Maria had to
do was to fill the tank; the second thing
was parking it. She was good at driving.
She always liked to make good time
from her job to home. And hope that
after my accident, she slows down and
drives carefully. And his younger daugh-
ter Veronica always liked everything
about fashion. She always dressed up
and never went out of style. She was so
cute. Whenever CD's of her favorite
artists came out, she would buy them.
also remembered when was trying to
buy a hot dog and saw a homeless
man. He was hungry. invited him to eat
a hot dog and we began to talk. He told
me that he used to be a well off,* but
one day he had lost everything. Even
when he went to his best friends, they
kicked him out from their houses,
nobody helped him.
Really, learnt a lot and now can see
and appreciate everything that life hand-
ed me over. He saw God and God told
him that he was
ready to go back
to the earth
and start over
a new life with
a new family.
He wished
him good luck
and said " bless
you!!"

There is nothing such important than
have a goal in life. ndeed, life has more
sense when you have a good future to
dream about or a goal to reach.
Here is a story about Samy, a senior in
high school who unfortunately wasn't
born with a silver spoon in his mouth.*
As a matter of fact, a goal to reach in
life requires sacrifices to the dreamer.
Samy wasn't born in a rich family.
Besides, his father walked out of the
house and left his mom and him since
he was six years old. For this purpose,
it was very difficult for them to make a
mint, in order to take care of the bills
and other important things. n spite of
his poor situation, he had a big dream:
"being a famous doctor". He was a
smart student in high school. But he
knew that he needs to work hard to
reach this goal. He pays attention to
medical class such as biology and
anatomy. One day, the biology teacher
was discussing something important
about surgery. He asked a difficult
question. Nobody was able to give the
answer except Samy. He came up with
old medical traditions to enlighten*
everybody on his famous answer. n
fact, the teacher was so proud of him
that he promises him to look for a
financial aid that could allow him to get
access* easily to any university he
wishes to go. Oh, he was very lucky
this day. And then, few months later,
Samy gets his financial aid and keep
working on his goal.
Sometimes, when you have a goal to
reach, you should be able to face the
obstacles and overcome them. That's
the reason why, even though Samy's
friends gave him bad advices such as
walk out of his career, to do something
that would take less time to make
some money. But he never listens to
them, he keeps studying hard because
he was dreaming about a better life
and helping the community.
Samy spent all his time by learning,
and discussing medical things.
Everybody likes Samy, even teachers
because of his intelligence. He was
the smartest student in his classroom
and he pays attention to everything.
Besides by seeing his ability, teachers
are use to bet that Samy will become a
famous doctor.
One day, the principal was talking to
the teachers about Samy and says:
"we have this type of student once in
the blue moon". Samy became happi-
er and happier everyday because he
wasn't far from his goal. A few years
after, he was graduated and invited in
a dinner by the principal. n fact, Samy
was dressed spick on span.* He has
never been dressed good for his entire
life. For this purpose, the principal
presents him in front of one of the best
hospital in the city to get his job. And
as Samy wishes, he reached his goal
by being a famous doctor.
As have shown, "life has its ups and
downs". There is a time to live in bad
conditions and there's also a time to
rejoice in* life. That is how it is. Samy
gives a better life to his mom and him.
He taught everybody: "Whether you are
poor or misfortune,* there are still ways
to succeed in life and reach your goal".

About seven years ago three of my
friends from high school and , went to
Machu-Pichu which is one of the most
preserved archeological sites by human-
ity in Peru. By the way it is so beautiful!
We wanted to make a difference by
doing something exciting and crazy at
the same time, a six days trip across
the Peruvian jungle! The next day we
bought a map and all the necessary
items and food for the next six days.
As soon as the sun rose our great
adventure* began.
The first two days were spent without
any incidents, until the third day we
realized that we were walking in circles
for past ten hours. After checking our
map more than fifty times, we came to
the conclusion that we were lost in the
middle of nowhere. On the fourth day,
without any idea of what to do, we took
the most stupid decision of our lives.
We decided to split out. But the ques-
tion is how could we split out with only
one map for all of us?
We found a river on the map which was
supposed to lead us to a small village
about five hundreds kilometers down
the river. chose to keep going follow-
ing the river, but after walking for about
8 hours we were so exhausted, with no
food to eat, with our bodies hurting.
Day 14, my friend was trying to find
something to eat and he got lost.
never saw him again, not even the
local police could find his body. was
all alone. On the day 20 couldn't go
anymore. sat down and prayed to
the Lord. All wanted was to rest.
asked him to let me die peacefully.
can't remember for how long slept.
All heard was a buzzing sound and
my friend Carlos, calling my name. He
was overjoyed to see me. Finally they
rescued me after 21 days in the jungle.
The purpose of sharing this experience
with you is to help you learn not to be so
careless and selfish. Because you
always can do whatever you want with
your own life. But you can not risk the
life of others. That's a big pain you
going to carry on for the rest of your life.

him many times. They had a deep
relationship, almost automatically.
They became lovers. However, her

For example, he usually woke up at 6
AM and he went to bed early. He was
like an electric alarm and he had to do
everything completely. So, they fre-

The first fight was that she really liked
flat shoes. But he was so cheap. He
didn't want her to buy so many flat
shoes. He nagged* her all the time
about her shoes. They often had bad
