What Makes Christianity Unique 2
Grace One of the most defining aspects of Christianity is the grace that is extended. In other religions we see the law enforced. Take for example Islam. In their religion if you turn your back on Allah you deserve immediate death and this religion does not allow for repentance and returning to the Muslim faith. Christianity on the other hand offers grace to the penitent sinner. The Christian God is seeking for those who have disobeyed Him, and He still loves them and wants them to turn back to Him. This leads to a second important difference between Christianity and other world religions. Relationship The question offers itself of why does the Christian God seek out those who have disobeyed Him? Should He not give them the punishment they deserve? The Christian God longs to extend grace because He wants a personal relationship with each individual. He is the designer and maker of each person on this earth and as such He desires a living, vital relationship with all. He created mankind to be in a relationship with God. This relationship is to be a daily friendship and is even likened to the relationship of a husband and wife. So not only do we see that God extends grace to unworthy humans, but He also extends the hand of friendship to all who will accept Him! Resurrection The final point we will mention here between Christianity and the other mainstream religions is the authority of the founder of Christianity. Most religions can be traced back to some human being who came up with a doctrine or was enlightened, etc but where do they get their authority to teach others their truth? Christianity is unique in that its founder claims to be What Makes Christianity Unique 3
God, and that God sent His Son as a baby to earth. This baby, who was called Jesus lived a relatively short life of thirty three years on this earth, and then was crucified. Three days later this same Jesus was resurrected and was seen in the following days by hundreds of people. No other religion lays out such a preposterous claim as the resurrection that can actually be verified by not just Christianitys own sources, but by historical sources as well. The resurrection thus offers hope to mankind. If Jesus had not conquered death then Christianity would be a hoax, but since Jesus died and rose again we can have a relationship with a grace-bestowing Savior!
