DEFINITION OF BLACK MAGIC OR SIHR.
Magic is an old human practice. It is sometimes
defined as deception by showing something to
an audience, which is contrary to reality. In Islam
this is part of magic, which is, however, defined
as seeking the help of demons to perform
something harmful against somebody.
Sihr is so called because its means are hidden or
secret, and because the practitioners of sihr
deal with things in secret. This enables them to
perform illusions to confuse the people and
deceive their eyes. The aim of this is to cause
them harm or steal their money, etc. It is done in
such a discreet manner that in most cases the
victims are totally unaware of it!
Hence the last part of the night is called sahar,
because at the end of the night people are
unaware and they do not move about much.
And the lungs are also called sahr, because they
are hidden inside the body.

RULING OF BLACK MAGIC OR SIHR.
Sihr is a serious crime and is one of the kinds of
kufr. It is one of things with which people have
been tested with, among the nations of the
past, during the Jaahiliyyah and in this ummah.
The more ignorance increases, the less the
knowledge and awareness of faith.
The less attention the authorities pay to this
matter the more the practitioners of sihr and
trickery increase and spread in the land, to take
the peoples wealth and confuse them and do
other things. Islam condemns magic. Also
horoscope, fortune telling or reading one's palm
is prohibited in Islam. This is based on the belief
that no one knows the future or the unseen
except God almighty.
It is so very serious that Umar had ordered all
magicians to be executed in his era.

Therefore the Quran asserts that even
Muhammad does not know the unseen.



"If I had the knowledge of the unseen, I should
have secured abundance for myself, and no evil
would have touched me" (7:188).
Devils committed kufr by teaching men magic.


and such things that came down at Babylon to
the two angels, Haaroot and Maaroot, but neither
of these two (angels) taught anyone (such things)
till they had said, We are for trial, so disbelieve
not (by learning this magic from us).[al-Baqarah
2:102]

A MUSLIMS AQIYDA REGARDING SIHR.
Magic and any harm that results from it is
subject to the prior decree and will of Allah, for
our Lord cannot be overwhelmed and nothing
can happen in His Dominion against His Will.
Nothing happens in this world or in the
hereafter except by His prior decree and His
great wisdom, as He wills. So some people may
be tested by sihr, and others may be tested by
sickness, or by being killedetc. Allah is All-
Wise in all that He wills and decrees, and in all
that He prescribes for His slaves. Hence Allah
says:

but they could not thus harm anyone except by
Allahs Leave [al-Baqarah 2:102]
From this ayah we understand that Magic occurs
by His universal (kawni) will and decree and not
by His legislative (shari) will [i.e., He wills that it

should happen but He does not enjoin it and He
is not pleased by such actions]. For shareeah
does not allow such things, indeed it forbids
them, but by His universal leave He already
knows and has already decreed that so and so
will do sihr, and that so and so will be affected
by it. Just like He already knows and has already
decreed that so and so will be killed, or afflicted
with a certain sickness, or will die in a certain
land, and will receive such and such provision, or
will be rich or poor. All of that happens by the
will and decree of Allah, as He says:

Verily, We have created all things with Qadar
(Divine Preordainments of all things before their
creation as written in the Book of Decrees
Al-Lawh Al-Mahfooz)[al-Qamar 54:49]

No calamity befalls on the earth or in yourselves
but it is inscribed in the Book of Decrees (Al-Lawh
Al-Mahfooz) before We bring it into existence.
Verily, that is easy for Allah [al-Hadeed 57:22]
The evils that come at the hands of the
magicians or others do not happen because our
Lord is ignorant, for He knows all things and
nothing at all is hidden from Him, as He says:

Verily, Allah is the All-Knower of everything[al-
Anfaal 8:75]

that you may know that Allah has power over all
things, and that Allh surrounds all things in (His)
Knowledge[al-Talaaq 65:12]
So Allah knows all things, and nothing happens
in His Dominion that He does not will, but He has
perfect wisdom and good aims in whatever He
decrees should happen to people of honor or
humiliation, losing or gaining power, sickness or
health, magic and other things.
Everything that happens to people happens by
the will of Allah and in accordance with His prior
decree.

1) Sihr(BLACK MAGIC) of Separation.
Allah (Azza wa Jalla) says:










( )
And they follow what the Satans recited
over Sulayman's Kingdom. Sulayman
disbelieved not but the Satans disbelieved,
teaching the people sorcery, and that which
was sent down upon Babylon's two angels,
Harut and Marut; they taught not any man,

without they said, 'We are but a
temptation; do not disbelieve.' From them
they learned how they might divide a man
and his wife, yet they did not hurt any man
thereby, save by the leave of Allah, and they
learnt what they hurt them and did not
profit them, knowing well that whosoever
buys it shall have no share in the world to
come; evil then was that they sold
themselves for; if they had but known.
(2:102)

Jabir reported that Prophet said:
"Iblis would lay his throne on water and
would send his brigade of demons. The
lowest among them in rank is the one who
is most notorious in stirring up fitna. One of
the demons would, after a mission, come
and say to Iblis, 'I have done so and so.' Iblis
would reply, 'You have not done anything.'
Another one would come and say: 'I have
not left such and such person until I

separated him from his wife.' Iblis would
come closer to his demon and say, 'How
good you are." Muslim in An-Nawawi :
17/157.
Definition: It is a sihr which aims to separate
between two spouses, or stir up hatred between
two friends or two partners.
Types of Sihr of Separation.
1. Separating from ones mother.
2. Separating from ones father.
3. Separating from ones brother.
4. Separating from ones friend.
5. Separating from ones business partner.
6. Separating from ones spouse. This is the
most dangerous and prevalent type.

Symptoms of Sihr of Separation.
1. A sudden change in attitude from love to hate.
2. A great deal of suspicion is aroused between
the two people concerned.
3. No excuses are accepted by either party, even
if one of them is in the wrong.

4. Exaggerating the causes of disputes between
two people, even though they may be trivial.
5. Changing the mental image that a woman
may have of her husband, or changing the
mental image that a man may have of his wife;
so that the man would see his wife in an ugly
way, even though she were beautiful. In reality,
it is the demon who is entrusted with the task of
performing this type of sihr is the one who
would appear to the husband in her person, but
in an ugly way. By the same token, the woman
would see her husband in a horrible way.
6. The person affected by sihr hates anything
the other party does.
7. The person affected by sihr hates the place in
which the other party stays. For instance, a
husband may be in good mood when he is
outdoors, but when he returns home, he feels
quiet depressed.
According to Al-Hafidh Ibn Kathir, the cause of
separation between two spouses through this
sihr is that each of them appears to the other as
an ugly or ill-mannered. Tafsir lbn Kathir: 1/144

How does the sihr of separation occur?
A person goes to a sorcerer and requests that a
certain person be separated from any of the
previously mentioned catogaries. The sorcerer
would ask his client to provide:-
a. Name of the person and that of his
mother,
b. Traces of the person's smell from his/her
hair, garment or handkerchief etc.
c. If this is too difficult to obtain, the
sorcerer would perform sihr on some
water, and ask his client to spill it along
the way which that person normally uses.
If person crosses the place of water, then
he/she would be affected by sihr. Or it can
be done by adding the water into his food
or drink.

2) Sihr(BLACK MAGIC) Al-Mahabba/At-Tiwala
(Love).
The Prophet said: "Ar-ruqa, at-tama'im and at-
tiwala are acts of polytheism." Transmitted by
Imam Ahmad (1/381), Abu Dawud (3883), Ibn
Majja (3530) and Al-Hakim (4/418)

According to Ibn Al-Athir, at-tiwala is a type of
sihr which makes a man love his wife. The reason
why this type of sihr is classed by the Prophet
as an act of polytheism is because those who
have it done for them believe that it has an
effect and does the opposite of what Allah
(Azza wa Jalla) has prescribed. An-Nihaya: 1/200

NB: The ruqyah referred to in the above hadith is
the one which seeks the assistance of Jinn and
devils and consists of acts classed as
polytheistic. However, the ruqyah which is based
on the Qur'an and lawful supplications of Allah is
lawful, according to scholars. It is reported in
that the Prophet was quoted as saying:

"There is no harm in using ruqyah as a means of
treatment provided it does not consist of
anything polytheistic." (Sahih Muslim)

Symptoms of Sihr of Love.
1. Excessive love and passion.
2. Extreme desire to have sexual intercourse.
3. Impatience of remaining without having
sexual intercourse.
4. Extreme lust at the sight of one's wife.
5. Blind obedience to one's wife.

How the Sihr of Love Occur?
If a person (mainly the wife) goes to a saahir and
asks him to work out a sihr which would let her
be very much loved by her husband. This may be
due to:-
a defect in her faith,
or ignorance of the fact that this is
unlawful.

The saahir would ask her to provide-
Trace of her husband's scent (a handkerchief,
cap, piece of cloth or flannel) provided that
these items contain the smell of her
husband's sweat so they should not be new
or clean.
The saahir would take some threads from
these items, blow on them, tie a knot around
them, and ask the woman to bury them in a
deserted place. Allah says in Surah Falaq:

And from the evil of those who practice
witchcraft when they blow in the knots[al-Falaq
113:4]
The saahir would also prepare a spell in water
or food. The worst sihr is done in filth or
menses discharge- and ask the woman to put
it in her husband's food, drink or perfume.

Symptoms of Sihr that was eaten or drunk.
1. The victim feels a permanent pain in their
stomach when the magic is recent.
2. This pain increases during ruqyah as long as
the Black Magic is not old and has not spread all
over the body.
3. Feeling bloated with gasses.
4. They feel some unusual heat of their body and
especially during ruqyah.
5. Some patients lose their appetite.
6. Constipation in some cases.
7. Very strong pain for women during menses.
8. When hands or feet have swollen or some
spots appear it might suggest that Black Magic
has accumulated in that area. And Allah knows
best.

Adverse Effects of Sihr of Love.
1. Sometimes a man falls ill as a result of this sihr.
The sickness could last for a number of years.
2. Sometimes the sihr backfires, and the man
would hate his wife. This is due to a lack of

knowledge of the practice of sihr.
3. Sometimes a woman asks the saahir to
prepare a double-effect sihr which makes her
husband love her alone and hate all other
women. This results in the man's hating his
mother, sisters, maternal aunts, paternal aunts
and all female kinship.
4. Sometimes the double-effect sihr backfires,
and the man ends up by hating all women, even
his wife. There have been similar cases in which
a man hated his wife and eventually divorced
her. The woman went back to the sorcerer to
cancel the sihr, only to find that the saahir had
died.


Causes of Sihr of Love.
1. Marital squabbles
2. The woman runs after her husband's wealth,
especially if he is rich.
3. The woman suspects that her husband is
going to marry another woman -although this is

lawful under Islamic Law- and there is no harm in
it. Its wrong for her to believe that if her
husband wants to marry another woman it
means that he does not love her anymore. This is
a gross mistake because there are several
factors which cause a man to marry up to four
women, despite his love for the first wife. There
is, for instance, his desire to have many children,
his inability to stay without sexual intercourse
during his wife's menstruation, during her post-
natal bleeding, or his intention to establish a
relationship with a certain family.
HOW TO ENCHANT YOUR HUSBAND
LAWFULLY.
Make yourself look very beautiful and
attractive to your husband, dont let him
come across any ugly feature or unpleasant
smell in you.
Giving him a warm smile.
Talking to him lovingly, and pleasantly.

Keeping good company with him.
Safeguard his wealth.
Taking good care of your children.
Keeping the house clean and tidy.
Obeying him in all matters, except a matter in
which he obliges you to disobey Allah.

There is a stark contradiction in our society
today, concerning these matters. A classical
example is, when a woman is invited to any
social event, she takes special care to ensure
that she looks her best by wearing her best
outfit and compliments it with her best make-
up and jewellery. When she returns home,
she removes all her party clothes and
jewellery. The poor husband, who has bought
that jewellery and dress is deprived of the
enjoyment of seeing her wearing them.
If she were considerate and smart, she would
realize that her husband is the one who
deserves to see her in such a beautiful
appearance. Therefore, when the husband goes

to work, try to finish the housework, wash
yourself, make yourself beautiful and attractive,
and wait for him. When he returns home let him
see a beautiful woman before him, and let him
find food ready in a tidy home. His love for you
will increase and he will feel very much more
attached to you. This is the lawful form of
attraction, and is very rewarding, especially if
your intention in beautifying yourself is to obey
Allah and help your husband abstain from
looking at other women.
Always remember a person who is satisfied does
not desire food, but a person who is deprived of
it will have a craving for it.

3) Sihr(BLACK MAGIC) At- Takhyil (False
Appearance of Objects):-
Allah ('Azza wa Jalla) says:

They said: O Moosa! Either you throw first or we
be the first to throw?
Moosa said: Nay, throw you (first)! Then behold!
their ropes and their sticks, by their magic,
appeared to him as though they moved fast.
So Moosa conceived fear in himself.

We (Allah) said: Fear not! Surely, you will have
the upper hand.
And throw that which is in your right hand! It will
swallow up that which they have made. That
which they have made is only a magicians trick,
and the magician will never be successful, to
whatever amount (of skill) he may attain.[Ta-Ha
20:65-69]
Allah says in Surah Al-Aaraaf:

They said, "Moses, will you throw something
down or shall we be the ones to throw." He
said, "You throw!" So when, they charmed

people's eyes and overawed them. They
produced a splendid sihr. And We revealed to
Moses: 'Cast thy staff.' And lo, it forthwith
swallowed up their lying invention. So the
truth came to pass, and false was proved
what they were doing. So they were
vanquished there, and they turned about,
humbled. And the sorcerers were cast down,
bowing themselves. They said, 'We believe in
the Lord of al-'Alamin (Jinn and mankind), the
Lord of Moses and Harun. (7:117-122)
Symptoms of Sihr of Takhyeel.
1. A fixed object would appear to be mobile,
while a mobile object would appear to be
fixed for the viewer.
2. A small object would appear large, while a
large object would appear small for the
viewer.
3. The false appearance of objects: Under
the effect of the magic of Pharaoh's
sorcerers, ropes and rods appeared to
viewers as real snakes.

How is this achieved?
A magician would show the viewers an
object; then with an incantation and the
support of some demons, the object would
appear in a form other than its real one.
Examples of this are:-
A magician recites an incantation and makes
an egg turn at a high speed.
A magician recites an incantation which
makes two stones fight like a pair of rams.
These are all the tricks a saahir uses in front
of people in order to obtain their money or
display his dexterity. Sometimes, he includes
this type sihr in other types. In the sihr of
separation, e.g. a man would see his wife in
an ugly image, and the sihr of love, he would
see the opposite. These types of sihr are
different from charlatanism, which relies on
the rapid movement of hands.

4) Sihr(BLACK MAGIC) Al-Junun (Lunacy)
Kharija Ibn salat reported that his paternal
uncle went to the Prophet and declared his
conversion to Islam. On his way back, his uncle
passed by a people who had fettered a lunatic
in chains. They said: "We were told that your
companion (the Prophet has brought good
with him). Do you have anything with which to
cure our lunatic?" I recited al-Fatiha and he was
cured. They gave me one hundred sheep and
then approached the Prophet to inform him
of it. He asked: "Did you say anything other than
this?" I replied: "No." He said: "Take it, for by my
life, some would accept in return for a false
ruqyah, but you have done this with a genuine
one." According to another narration, "the man
cured him by reciting al-Fatiha for three days,
day and night; whenever he finished reciting it,
he would gather his saliva and spit." (Abu Daud)

Symptoms.
1. Severe absent mindedness and
forgetfulness.
2. Confused speech.
3. Bulging eyes and deviation of sight.
4. Restlessness.
5. Inability to do a task regularly.
6. Disinterest in one's appearance.
7. ln severe cases, one can tell from a lunatic's
face that he does know where he is going, and
he would probably sleep in derelict places.
How is it done?
The Jinn entrusted with the sihr enters into the
targeted person and settles in his brain, as
instructed by the saahir. He then begins
pressing on the brain cells for thought,
memory and behaviour; or managing them in a
way which only Allah ('Azza wa Jalla) knows.
As a result, symptoms appear on the victim.

5) Sihr(BLACK MAGIC) Al-Khumul (Lethargy)
Symptoms
1. Love of seclusion.
2. Absolute introversion.
3. Constant silence.
4. Anti-social behavior.
5. Absentmindedness.
6. Frequent headaches.
7. Quietness and constant lethargy.

How this happens
A saahir would send a Jinn to the targeted
person, instructing him to settle in his brain
and make him introverted and lonely. The Jinn
would do his best to carry out the mission, and
the symptoms of this sihr would appear,
according to the strength and weakness of the
Jinn entrusted with the task.

6) Sihr(BLACK MAGIC) Al-Hawatif (Bad
Dreams and Hearing Voices)
Symptoms
1. The patient experiences nightmares.
2. The patient sees in a dream as if someone
were calling him.
3. The patient hears voices talking to him when
awake, but cannot see where these voices are
coming from.
4. The patient hears much whispering (Al-
Waswas)
5. The patient is very suspicious of his/her
friends and relatives.
6. The patient dreams of seeing oneself falling
from a high place.
7. The patient dreams of seeing oneself being
chased by animals.

How this is Achieved
The saahir instructs a Jinn to appear to a
person both in dream and in reality, in the form
of savage beasts attacking him; to call him
when awake in voices which he recognises and

which he does not; to cause him to suspect
people that are close to him and people who
are not. Symptoms may vary according to the
power and weakness of the sihr. They may
increase to the point of reaching lunacy and
may also diminish to the point of being a mere
whispering.

7) Sihr(BLACK MAGIC) Al-Maradh (Illness).
Symptoms
1. Constant pain in one part of the body.
2. Epilepsy.
3. Paralysis of one area of the patient's body.
4. Total paralysis of the body.
5. Disability in of one of the sense organs.

NB: Some of these symptoms may be similar to
those of a normal physical illness. In order to
distinguish between the symptoms, the healer
should recite the ruqyah over the patient. If the
patient feels dizzy, becomes numb, has a
headache, or if there is a change in the
patient's body during the recitation process,
then the healer should assume that these
symptoms pertain to the use sihr. If the patient
does not react to the ruqyah, the healer should
advice the patient that he/she suffers from a
physical illness and should consult a doctor.

How this is Achieved
It is common that the brain is the main

regulator of the body. This means that every
human organ has a control center in the brain,
from which it receives codes. For example, if
you try to put your finger in a fire, the finger
sends a fast code to the sense center in the
brain, and then receives orders from this
center, warning it to keep away from the
source of danger. In response, the hand moves
away from fire. This interaction takes place
within a fraction of a second:

This is Allah's Creation; now show me what those
have created that are part from Him! (31:11)

Through this sihr, a Jinn settles in a person's
brain, in the sensual center of hearing, sight,
feeling of the hand or the leg, as directed by the
saahir. As a result, the response of a limb may be
one out of three conditions:

1. The Jinn may -with Allah's Ability- completely
prevent signals from reaching a limb or organ.
As a result, a limb stops functioning, so the
patient may become blind, dumb, deaf or
physically paralyzed.
2. The Jinn may -with Allah's Ability- sometimes
prevent signals from reaching a limb or organ,
and may sometimes let them reach it. As a
result, the limb or organ sometimes functions
and sometimes does not.
3. The Jinn may cause the brain to send fast
successive signals without any reason.
Consequently, the limb may become frigid and
unable to move, even if it were not paralyzed.

However, any harm a person sustains, under the
effect of sihr depends on Allah's will, which is
not surprising!

...yet they did not hurt any man thereby, save
by the Leave of Allah. (2:102).

Yet in the past, many doctors in the Mulim
world would neither acknowledge nor believe
this fact. However, when they witnessed
several cases, they had no choice but to believe
and submit to Allah's ('Azza wa Jalla) ability.

8) Sihr(BLACK MAGIC) An-Nazif (Bleeding
Following Menses)
How it is achieved
This type of sihr affects women only. A saahir
sends a Jinn to the targeted woman and
instructs him to cause her to bleed. To do so,
the Jinn enters the woman's body and
circulates in her veins and arteries with the
blood. This notion of circulation has long been
warned about by the Prophet in the
following tradition: "Satan circulates in man's
body like blood." Al-Bukhari (Fath Al-Bari:
4/282) and Muslim (An-Nawawi. 14/155)

When the Jinn reaches a known vein in the
woman's womb, he stomps it so that the vein
bleeds. This fact was also pointed out by the
Prophet when Hamna bint Jahsh asked
his opinion on the issue of bleeding outside the
period of menses, and he said: "Such bleeding is
but one of Satan's stomping." According to At-
Tirmidhi, the above tradition is authentic.

According to another tradition, the bleeding "is
the result of Satan's stomping on a vein rather
than from a normal menses." Imam Ahmad and
An-Nasai (a very good chain of transmission)

Therefore, according to both traditions, a
menstruation that occurs outside its normal
period is one of the Satan's stomps on one of
the womb's veins.

According to scholars of Fiqh (jurisprudence),
an-nazif refers to al-istihadha (continuous
menstruation), and according to doctors, it
refers to bleeding.
According to Ibn Al-Athir, al-istihadha means
bleeding following a normal menses.
This bleeding may last for months, and the
amount of blood could be little or large.

9) Sihr of Impeding Marriage
How is this Done?
A grudging person would go to a wicked
sorcerer and requests that a sihr be done to a
certain person's daughter to thwart her
marriage. The saahir would request her name,
her mother's name and a trace of her hair or
smell (on a piece of garment). Once these are
provided, the sorcerer would work out the
appropriate sihr and instruct one Jinn, or more,
to stalk the girl until the opportunity comes to
enter her, which is often during one of the four
occasions:
1. Extreme fear.
2. Extreme anger.
3. Extreme unawareness.
4. Indulgence in pleasure.
The Jinn has Two Options:
1. If he can enter the girl, then he would cause
her to feel uncomfortable with any prospective
husband and; thus, turn him down.
2. If he cannot enter the girl, then he would use

the sihr of imagination, from outside. As a
result, a suitor would see the girl in an ugly
image under the effect of the Jinn's
whispering, and so would the girl.
Under the effect of this sihr and under the
Jinns whispering a suitor, who would have
initially agreed to the marriage, would decline
after a few days, without any valid reason.
In cases of a strong sihr, a suitor would, upon
entering the house of his prospective wife, feel
very uncomfortable and see darkness before
him as if he were in prison, and so would never
return.
Symptoms.
1. Occasional headaches, which persist despite
medication.
2. Severe tightness in the chest, especially
between al-Asr salaah and midnight.
3. The patient sees the suitor in an ugly image.
4. Absentmindedness.
5. Anxiety during sleep.
6. Occasional constant stomach-aches.
7. Pain in the lower part of the back.

10) Causing sterility in Men
Sterility in Men
There are two types:
1. Organic Sterility: This type may be treated by
doctors if they could.
2. Sterility caused by Sihr. This type is caused by
the Jinns presence in a man's body.
Generally, fertility in men requires that the
sperm count be at least twenty million per cubic
centimetre of semen. Sometimes, a Jinn may
interfere with one of the teste which produce
spermatozoa, by pressing it or by other means;
so that the testis would not produce the
required sperm count to fertilise an ovum.
When the spermatozoa move from the testes to
the gonocyte, they require much clear fluid
which is secreted and poured into the gonocyte
by a specific gland. This fluid acts as
nourishment for the spermatozoa stored in the
gonocyte. Again, the Jinn interferes in this
process by preventing the gland from secreting
the clear fluid; thus, denying the spermatozoa
stored in the gonocyte of their nourishment. As

a result of this Satanic interference, the
spermatozoa die and fertilisation is not
achieved.
Difference between Natural Sterility and Sterility
caused by Sihr
Sterility caused by sihr has the following
symptoms:
1. A tightness in the chest, which begins at al-asr
and may last until midnight.
2. Absentmindedness.
3. Pain in the lower part of the spine.
4. Anxiety during sleep.
5. Nightmares.
Sterility in Women
There are two types:
1. Natural Sterility.
2. Sterility caused by sihr: The Jinn settles in the
womb and destroys the ovum, so fertilisation
does not take place. Or, the Jinn lets the process
of fertilisation and pregnancy take place.
However, after several months of pregnancy, he
stomps a vein in the womb, causing bleeding
and thus prompting a miscarriage.

How to recognize a Jinnns touch (mass-h).
Symptoms while sleeping.
1. Anguish and sleeplessness (insomnia).
2. Disturbed sleep (broken).
3. Frequent nightmares.
4. Visions of animals (often black) i.e. dogs,
snakes, etc.
5. Clenching of teeth during sleep.
6. Sleep walking without realizing.
7. To see oneself falling from a very high place.
8. To see oneself in a cemetery or a dump or a
frightening way.
9. To often have erotic dreams.
10. To see strange persons e.g. too tall or too
short.
11. To always see the same person or the same
animal in ones dream.
12. To see oneself among the dead people
(silhouettes).

Symptoms while awake (in consciousness)
1. Headaches most of the time without any
reason (medicines dont cure them).
2. Turning away from remembering Allah e.g.
salaah, invocations, etc.
3. Mental distraction (mostly absent minded).
4. The patient is tired and lazy: no motivation
whatsoever.
5. They speak to themselves or they do not
speak at all.
6. Anxiety increases at nightfall or at dawn.
7. Their sight is affected e.g. flashes, strange
staring etc.
8. Sometimes a touched person is unable to
move one part of his body.
9. They might appear to be epileptic. They can
pass out (faint) and fall anywhere.
10. The patient complexion might change and
their look is strange.

Types of Jinn and forms of their presence:
Whispering.
Being in the brain of the patient.
Being in the brain without tricks.
Being in the body of the patient.
Presence of both the patient and the
jinnn.
Complete presence of the jinnn.
Common presence of the jinnn.
Many people think that anyone who is subject to
Jinnns must have madness or be an epileptic
when the Jinnn comes. Also they entertain the
idea that the presence of the Jinnn is complete
and not partial. This understanding is erroneous
and unfounded since the presence of Jinnns can
be of many types, namely:

1 Whispering.
The Shaytaan can whisper and cause a lot of
anxiety, negative thoughts and paranoia to the
point that the patient starts laughing or crying
without any reason. The patient might also
experience temper. Such state could last few
hours or from time to time during the whole life
span.
2 - Being in the brain of the patient.
The Shaytaan controls all his physical and
spiritual senses. In such a case the shaytaan uses
ones senses, nerves and muscles and it is easy
for him to make the patient suffer from madness
to a great extent. It might last few minutes or
few days or even most of patients life span.

3 Being in the brain of the patient without
tricks.
The shaytaan influences most of ones senses
and could speak on behalf of the patient. In such
case both of them will not notice if they are
beaten up. This situation might last for few
hours.

4 - Being in the body of the patient:
The Shaytaan might be in one of patients limbs
and cause him a pain in his back or his head and
as result he might temporarily lose his hearing or
his sight while being conscious. Such a situation
might last many days. Examples:-
Permanent paralysis caused by Jinnns.
This can occasionally affects eyes only during
reading or healing courses, etc.

5 - Presence of both the patient and the jinnn:
Both the shaytaan and the patient can speak.
Both of them feel the pain if they are beaten up.
Such a presence lasts for a few hours.
6 Complete presence of the Jinnn or
possession:
The Jinnn comes and possesses completely the
patient, speak and walk on his behalf.
He [the patient] can even dispute or run away
without being aware. Some Jinnns make the
patient drive his car and travel without being
aware and later find out that they are
somewhere else!
7 - Common presence
This is similar to the two previous ones [the
partial and the complete one] but in a subtle
way. The patient is able to see things properly
and can distinguish everything. However, he

could unwillingly utter or do something so much
so that some kind of Jinnns dont speak with
their own voice [we hear patients voice instead]
without being noticed even by the patient
himself. This is the case of a black magic
associated with a Jinnn mostly magic of
separation in order to dispute with others in so
that to make a couple split up.

Symptoms of black magic
1.Most cases of black magic are associated with
the symptoms of devils touch.
2. Sudden attitude change i.e. from love to
hatred, from being healthy to illness, from joy to
sadness, etc.
3. Very bad tempered and quick to react.
4. Their state worsens or their symptoms change
when the Quraan is recited upon them or after
that.
5. Those suffering from magic feel as if they are
being urged to say something or to do an action
without their will and most of the time they
regret their behaviour.
6. Pain in the stomach.
7. Pain in the lower back.
8. Their eyes appear to be remarkably shining
and they look up and down. In most cases it
suggests that they might have eaten or drunk

Sihr that has reached their eyes. However it
could also suggest the presence of a jinnn within
them.
9. A very putrid smell comes from their mouth or
their skin or their stomach even if they wash
themselves they cannot get rid of it.

How to best deal with sihr (magic/witchcraft).
Whoever is affected by sihr should not
treat it with sihr, because evil cannot be
removed by evil, and kufr cannot be
removed by kufr. Evil is removed by good.
We cannot remove sihr from a person
who has been affected by it by using more
sihr. The saahir does sihr or learns sihr only
after worshipping and serving the
shayaateen, and drawing close to them by
means of the things that they like. After
that, they teach him the means of sihr.
Treat it by means of the Quraan and
permissible medicines or good ruqyahs,
there is nothing wrong with that. But,
praise be to Allah, there is no reason why
the person who has been affected by sihr
should not be treated by means of reciting

Quraan and the prayers for refuge with
Allah that are prescribed in shareeah, and
permissible medicines.
NB: Bear in mind patients with all kinds of
sicknesses are treated by doctors. The
patient does not necessarily recover,
because not every sick person recovers. A
sick patient might be treated and then
recover if his appointed time (of death)
has not yet arrived, or he may not recover
and may die from this sickness, even
though he may be been seen by the most
skilled physicians and knowledgeable
doctors. When the appointed time of
death comes, no medicine or treatment
will be of any avail, because Allah says in
Surah al-Munaafiqoon 63:11]

And Allah grants respite to none when his
appointed time (death) comes
Medical treatment is of no benefit when
the appointed time has come, and Allah
decrees that His slave should not be
healed. The same applies in the case of
one who has been affected by sihr.
Allah may decree that he should recover,
or He may not decree that, as a test and a
trial, or for other reasons which are best
known to Allah. Among those reasons
may be the fact that the one who is
treating him does not have the right
treatment for this problem. It was
narrated that the Prophet said: For
every disease there is a medicine, and if

that medicine is applied to the disease, he
will recover by Allahs Leave.(Bukhari)
And he said: Allah has not sent down
any disease but He has also sent down the
cure; the one who knows it knows it and
the one who does not know it does not
know it.(Ahmad)
If Quran it is recited by a believing,
righteous reader who knows that
everything is subject to the will and
decree of Allah, that Allah is in control of
all things, that when He says to a thing
Be! it is, if the reciting is based on faith,
taqwa and sincerity, and is repeated
several times, then the sihr may be
removed and the person may recover by
Allahs Leave.

Some of the Sahaabah passed by some
Bedouins whose leader, had been bitten. They
had done everything they could but he had not
gotten better.
They said to one of the Sahaabah, Is there any
raaqi (one who performs ruqyah) among you?
They said, Yes. So one of them recited Surat
al-Faatihah over him, and he immediately got up
full of energy as if nothing had happened; Allah
healed him of the ill-effects of that snakebite.
The Prophet said: There is nothing wrong
with ruqyah so long as it does not involve
shirk.(Bukhari). From this hadith we
understand that ruqyah can also be done on non
Muslims. He performed ruqyah and had it
performed for him. There is a lot of good in
ruqyah, and a great deal of benefit.

Allah may heal the sick person and the
person affected by sihr, and others,
without any ruqyah and without any
action on the part of other people,
because He is Able to do all things, and He
is Wise in all He does. Allah says in His Holy
Book [Yaa-Seen 36:82]

Protective Measures against Sihr in general.
Prevention is always better than cure.
i. Eating seven dates before breakfast in the
morning Narrator Sa`d :
Allah's Apostle said, "He who eats seven
'Ajwa dates (Ajwa is a kind of date ... you
will get it in the market) every morning, will
not be affected by poison or magic on the
day he eats them." (Bukhari).
ii. Al-Wudhu.
iii. Observing congregational salat.
iv. Qiyyamu Al-layl (Observing optional salat
during the night).
v. Isti'aada - Seeking refuge with Allah ('Azza
wa Jalla) upon entering the toilet.
vi. Seeking refuge with Allah ('Azza wa Jalla)
upon starting salat.
vii. Protecting one's new wife against sihr at
the time of marriage by initiating marital
life with the dua taught to us by our Nabi.
(Fortess of Muslim Abu Daud).

viii. Initiating Marital life with two rakaahs
Salaah and dua.(Tabrani)
ix. Protection from the Satan during
intercourse by reciting the dua. The
Prophet said: If one of you when going
to his wife said: Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
(In the name of Allah), O Allah! Protect us
from Shaitan and protect the sustenance
(child) you give us from Shaitan, and if Allah
gave them a child, Shaitan would not affect
it at all. (Al-Bukhari).
x. Make Wudhu before going to bed, recite
Ayatul kursiy and La ilaha illallah.
xi. Reciting Kalimatu-tawheed 100 times
morning and evening. La ilaha illAllaah
wahdahu laa shareeka lahu lahul-mulku
wa lahul-hamdu wa huwa ala kulli shayin
qadeer. [There is none worthy of worship
except Allah alone. He has no
partners. To Him belongs the Dominion,
to Him belongs all praise and He is capable
over all things] it has been reported from

Abu Hurayrah that Allaahs Messenger
mentioned the above words and then
said: Whoever recites these words 100
times will receive the reward of setting free
ten slaves, a hundred good deeds will be
written for him and a hundred bad deeds
will be erased from him. It will be a
sanctuary from Shaytaan for him on that
day until he reaches the evening. No one
will come with something better except
one who increases beyond that. (Bukhari).
xii. Reading dua for entering the mosque.
xiii. Recite Dua before leaving the house.
xiv. Recite: Audhu bikalimaatil llahi min shari
maa khalaq 3times morning and evening.
xv. Recite: Bismillahi lladhiy laa yadurru maa
ismihi shay fil ardhi wa laa fis-samaa wa
huwas sami ul aleem 3times the morning
and the evening.

CHAPTER 5
Ways of Treating Sihr (witchcraft or magic)
There are different kinds of treatment:
1 He can look at what the saahir (person who
practices sihr) has done. For example, if he has
put some of his hair in a place, or in a comb, or
somewhere else, if it is discovered that he has
put it in such-and-such a place, it should be
removed and burnt or destroyed. This will cancel
out what has been done and will foil the
intentions of the saahir.
There are 3 different possibilities to come across
the Black Magic, viz:
a. The patient will have a vision which is a bounty
from Allah similarly to the Prophet who had a
vision in regards to the Black Magic that was
worked on his hair (Hadith narrated by Aishah
in Bukhari)

b. When the magic is associated with devils
touch then the jinn might indicate where the
magic is hidden.
c. The patient could have a feeling or insight or a
guess to where the Black Magic is.
DESTRUCTION AND NULLIFYING OF BLACK
MAGIC.
When the Black Magic is found one should not
throw it into the sea, the toilet. Nor should he
urinate on it, etc.
Rather, they should observe the following:
1. In order not to lose a part of it one has better
use a cloth or a plate to nullify it with the water
of Ruqyah.
2. If the Black Magic is of the type that can be
burnt then one should recite the ruqiah and then
burn it.
3. In case the type of magic is unknown [or
amulet] the Black Magic should be put into

Ruqyah water and after being dried it should
be burnt.
4. If the Black Magic is buried somewhere
without, in truth, knowing exactly then one
should spray the Ruqyah water on the whole
area [i.e. 2meter square].
2 The saahir should be forced to undo what he
has done, if his identity is known. It should be
said to him, Either you undo what you have
done, or you will be executed. After he has
undone it, he should still be executed by the
authorities, because the saahir should be killed
without being asked to repent, according to the
correct view. This is what was done by Umar
, and it was narrated that the Messenger
said: The punishment of the saahir is to strike
him with the sword (i.e., execute him). When
Hafsah Umm al-Mumineen found out that a
slave woman of hers was dealing with sihr, she
killed her.

3 Reciting Ruqyah, and adhaan for it has a
great effect in removing (the effects of) sihr.
Benefits of Adhaan
AbuHuraira reported the Messenger of
Allah as saying: When Satan hears the call
to prayer, he turns back and breaks the wind
so as not to bear the call being made, but
when the call is finished he turns round and
distracts (the minds of those who pray), and
when he bears the Iqamah he again runs away
so as not to hear its voice and when it subsides,
he comes back and distracts (the minds of
those who stand for prayer) [Muslim]
Abu Sufyan reported it on the authority of
Jabir that he had heard the Apostle of
Allah say: When Satan hears the call to
prayer, he runs away to a distance like that of
Rauha. Sulaiman said: I asked him about
Rauha. He replied: It is at a distance of thirty-
six miles from Medina.[Muslim]

The best person to read Quran on the
effected person is himself. Narrated by ibn
Abbas (in a long hadith):
The Prophet was told: 'This is your nation
out of whom seventy thousand shall enter
Paradise without reckoning.' Then the
Prophet entered his house without telling
his companions who they (the 70,000) were.
So the people started talking about the issue
and said, "It is we who have believed in Allah
and followed His Apostle; therefore those
people are either ourselves or our children
who are born m the Islamic era, for we were
born in the Pre-Islamic Period of Ignorance.''
When the Prophet heard of that, he came
out and said. "Those people are those who do
not ask to be treated with Ruqya, nor do they
believe in bad or good omen (from birds etc.)
nor do they get themselves branded
(Cauterised). but they put their trust (only) in
their Lord " On that 'Ukasha bin Muhsin

said. "Am I one of them, O Allah's Apostle?'
The Prophet said, "Yes." Then another
person got up and said, "Am I one of them?"
The Prophet said, 'Ukasha has
anticipated you." (Bukhari).
NB: It should be noted from the above hadith
that if a persons tawakkul (trust in Allah) is so
strong that he is so confident of Allahs
complete power that he does not rely on anyone
to treat him, instead he suffices by reading
Quran on himself. Such a person will enter
Jannah without accounting. However, this is not
to say that you refuse someone who wants to
make ruqya on you by their own accord.
PS:Also it should be understood that the doing
of Shari ruqyah by a pious person is neither
Makrooh nor Haraam.
Jabir Bin 'Abdallah reported that Allah's
Messenger prohibited ruqa. Then, some

people from the tribe of 'Umr Bin Hazam came
to him and said, "We have a ruqyah that we used
to use for scorpion and snake stings; but you
have now prohibited using ruqa." And they
showed it to him. He said: I do not see
anything wrong in it. Anyone among you who can
benefit his brother should do so. (Muslim)
Conditions for a Permissible Ruqyah
There are some important conditions that must
be satisfied in a ruqyah to make it permissible.
They were summarized by Ibn Hajar:-
"There is a consensus among the 'ulamaa that
ruqa are permissible when they satisfy three
conditions:
1 - To be with Allah's words or His names and
attributes.
2 - To be in Arabic or of an intelligible meaning.
3 - And to believe that they do not have effect by
themselves but by Allah. Fath ul Bari 10/240.

Ruqyah is a form of supplication. This is
approved by Allah's Messenger who said:
There is nothing wrong with ruqya as long as they
do not involve shirk.(Muslim)
Pre-Treatment: Place of treatment.
1. Remove pictures from the place of
treatment so that angels may enter.
Narrated Abu Talha : I heard Allahs
Apostle saying; Angels (of Mercy) do
not enter a house wherein there is a dog or
a picture of a living creature (a human
being or an animal)(Bukhari)
2. There should be no music in the place of
treatment.
3. The place of treatment should be devoid
of any unlawful act, such as men wearing
gold, women without Hijab, or anyone
smoking.
4. Once the room is cleaned, the healer
should recite Adhaan (call to prayers) in a

loud voice, to ward off any evil spirits from
the place of treatment.
Diagnosing the case of Sihr and Checking for
Symptoms.
1. Lecturing the patient and his family on the
Aqeedah (Oneness of Allah), so that their
hearts are cleansed from any attachment
to anything other than Allah.
2. Ask questions relevant to their condition.
They might come to you with a doubt in
their mind, and you will ask questions in
the same relevance. The reason for asking
questions is only to confirm which type of
Sihr/Magic has affected the patient. Once
you are sure of the type of Sihr used, you
may go on with the treatment afterwards.
3. Taking talismans/unknown amulets from
the patient and burning it.
4. Do wudu (ablution), or ghusl (bath), and
tell everyone who is with you or with the
patient to do the same.

If the patient is a female
Do not treat a woman who has not
covered herself and if she is wearing
perfume.
Do not start treatment until she (the
patient) covers her hair and body, it is
recommended that she fastens her
garments well so that her body is not
revealed during the process of treatment.
Do not treat a woman unless one of her
mahaarim (unlawful person to marry) is
present.
HEALING EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL
BLACK MAGIC
In general ruqyah can dispel black magic
wherever it is and remove it from the body
with the will of Allah subhanallah!
Getting rid of any black magic can occur
during the recitation or afterwards.

On the whole, the healing could last six
months and even up to two years.
The best ruqyah is the recitation or the
listening to the surah Baqarah every day
for three months especially for an old
Black Magic.
Also the verses that mention sorcery could
be very efficient.

Symptoms during ruqyah [recitation
upon the patient]
1. Crying when hearing the verses wherein
magic is mentioned.
2. To fall asleep.
3. Painful stomach
4. The patient giving the raaqi(reciter) an
ironic look.
5. The patient might laugh without his will.
6. Some patients shiver or shake.

Important guidelines for the patient:
1. Strong Iman and avoiding sins is your
best weapon. Daily ruqyah will not have
the desired effect if Iman is low and if
you indulge in sins. Example listening to
music, plucking eyebrows or watching
obscene movies.
2. Putting ones trust in Allah and believing
that He is the only One who can cure.
3. Reading the Quraan and specific
invocations (evening and morning
supplications).
4. Listening to ruqyah tape or Surah
Baqarah at least once a day. In case you
have no time play it in your house when
you go to work.
5. Following ruqyah course prescribed by
the raaqi [water that was blessed with a
recitation for bathing or drinking, etc.]

6. Try to find the magic and remove it e.g.
amulets, doubtful things, etc. Anyway if
you find your magic burn it and don't
throw it in the water.
7. Read ayat kursi, suratul ikhlaas and
mawidhatain (Falaq and Naas) after
every fardh salaah.
8. Always keep wudhu as it helps a great
deal.
9. Making specific dhikr( remembrance)
such as hasbiyyal Allahu wa ni'mal
wakeel and astaghfirulah.
10. Don't disclose your condition to anyone
you are suspicious of, i.e. about the
reality i.e. whether you are cured or still
suffering.

Impotant duas to be recited.
Repeat the following du`as on a regular basis
both in the morning and evening three times or
more:
1) Bismillahi alladhi la yadurru ma`a ismihi shayun
fi al-ardi wa la fi as-samai wa huwa as-sami`u al-
`alim .Abu Daud
(In the name of Allah; with His name, nothing
whatsoever on earth or heaven can inflict any
harm; He is All-Hearing and All-Knowing).
2) Hasbiya Allahu la ilaha illa huwa `alayhi
tawakkaltu wahuwa rabbu al-`arshi al-`adhweem
(7 times morning and evening).
(Allah suffices me; there is no god but He; in Him
I place my sole trust; He is the Lord of the
mighty Throne). Abu Daud

3) Allahumma ini a`duhu bika min hamazati ash-
shayatin wa a`udhu bika rabbi an yahdurun
(O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the
whisperings of Satan; my Lord, I seek refuge in
You from their presence around me).
4) Say Bismillah 3 times thereafter recite :
A`udhu bi `izzati Allahi wa qudratihi mimma ajidu
wa uhadhiru [ 7times]
(I seek refuge in Allahs glory and power from
the affliction and pain I experience and suffer
from). (Muslim)
5)Adhhib il-ba's, Rabbi l-naas washfi anta al-Shaafi
laa shifaa ailla shifaa uka shifaa an laa yughaadir
saqaman. (Remove the harm, O Lord of
humankind and heal him, for You are the Healer
and there is no healing except Your healing, with
a healing which does not leave any disease
behind)." al-Bukhaari (5675) and Muslim (2191).

TREATMENT OF BLACK MAGIC THAT WAS
EATEN OR DRUNK:
It includes numerous methods, namely:
1 Utilisation of laxatives:
To use any herb that is laxative mixed with some
water that was read upon during ruqiah.
Meanwhile it is recommended to avoid cold
drinks.(senaa leaf is great and from sunnah).
The Prophet said Upon you is the Senna and
the Sanoot (cumin) for indeed in the two of them
is a cure for every disease except Saam He was
asked O Messenger of Allah , What is Saam?
He said Death. [Saheeh Ibn Maajah]

NB: Preferably, in such case one should avoid
eating two hours afterwards.
Also it should be avoided by pregnant women,
children and elderly.
3 Massaging.
In most cases black seed oil and olive oil can be
vey efficient. Ruqyah can be performed on these
oils and applied to the painful areas. The best
way of massaging these oils is to rub in a circular
way from the bottom of the veins upwards or
downwards until the exit point i.e. mouth, the
bottom of the stomach, etc.
For example, if the Black Magic is on the hand
the starting point would be the fingers and then
upwards till the neck etc.
4 Cupping.
It consists in removing the contaminated and

toxic blood that stagnates on ones back or
elsewhere.
Ibn al-Qayyum mentions that the Messenger
cupped his head when he was afflicted with
magic and that it is from the best of cures for
this if done correctly. [Zaad al Maaad (4/125-126)]
5 Iktihaal .
Using Kohl can be very useful to weaken SIHR
that has spread in ones eyes if Allah wills.
REMOVAL OF INTERNAL BLACK MAGIC:
Getting rid of Sihr that has spread in the veins
could be either done while reciting the ruqyah
text upon the patient.
Alternatively olive oil and or honey that have
been done Ruqyah on should be consumed by
the patient.

Abu laila reports, that I was sitting with Nabi
when suddenly a person came and said I have
a brother in pain. Nabi said: what is his
pain? He replied: junoon (madness). Nabi
said: Go back and bring him with you. He came
and sat in front of Nabi I heard him recite:

Hence the person (who was insane) stood up
and indeed he was free of it and there was

Should be recited over the person who has been
affected by sihr, or blown into a vessel with
water. Dua should be made for healing and
good health; in particular the dua which has
been narrated from the Prophet :
Allahumma Rabb al-Naas, adhhib al-bas washfi,
anta al-Shaafiy, laa shifaaa illa shifaauka,
shifaaan laa yughaadiru saqaman (O Allah, Lord
of mankind, remove the evil and grant healing,
for You are the Healer. There is no healing
except Your healing, which does not leave any
sickness).
One may also recite the words used by Jibreel
when he treated the Prophet ruqyah:
Bismillaah arqeek, min kulli shayin yudheek, wa
min sharri kulli nafsin aw aynin haasidin Allah
yushfeek, bismillaah urqeek (In the name of
Allah I perform ruqyah for you, from everything
that is harming you, from the evil of every soul

or envious eye may Allah heal you, in the name
of Allah I perform ruqyah for you).
He may also recite the above into water, some
of which should be drunk by the person who has
been affected by sihr, and he should wash with
the rest, one or more times as needed. This will
remove the sihr by Allahs Leave. This was
mentioned by the scholars (may Allah have
mercy on them), and by Shaykh Abd al-
Rahmaan ibn Hasan (may Allah have mercy on
him) in Fath al-Majeed Sharh Kitaab al-Tawheed,
in (the chapter entitled) Baab Ma jaaa fil-
Nushrah, and by others.
4 He can take seven green lotus leaves, grind
them up, and put them into water, then recite
into it the aayahs and soorahs mentioned above,
and the duaas. Then he can drink some and
wash with the rest. This is also useful for treating
a man who is being kept from having intercourse
with his wife. Seven green lotus leaves should be
placed in water, the verses referred to above

should be recited into it, then he should drink
from it and wash with it. This is beneficial, by
Allahs leave.

water and the lotus leaves for those who have
been affected by sihr and the one who is being
prevented from having intercourse with his

them. And He is the Most High, the Most Great

He wants to get you out of your land, so what do
you advise?
They said: Put him and his brother off (for a
time), and send callers to the cities to collect
That they bring to you all well-versed sorcerers.
And so the sorcerers came to Pharaoh. They said:
Indeed there will be a (good) reward for us if we
are the victors.
He said: Yes, and moreover you will (in that case)
be of the nearest (to me).

They said: O Moosa! Either you throw (first), or
shall we have the (first) throw?
He [Moosa] said: Throw you (first). So when they
threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and
struck terror into them, and they displayed a
great magic.
And We revealed to Moosa (saying): Throw your
stick, and behold! It swallowed up straight away
all the falsehood which they showed.
Thus truth was confirmed, and all that they did
was made of no effect.
So they were defeated there and returned
disgraced.
And the sorcerers fell down prostrate.
They said: We believe in the Lord of the
Aalameen (mankind, jinnn and all that exists).The
Lord of Moosa and Haaroon (Aaron). [al-Araaf

several times, the sihr will be removed and the
person might recover by Allahs Leave.
Fighting witchcraft with witchcraft
Curing a person who has been bewitched or has
had a spell cast on him, if done by permissible
means is allowed. It comes under the heading of
the treatment of sickness and disease. It is one
of the best of deeds if one seeks the pleasure of
Allah thereby, especially if done for the purpose
of solving marital or family problems.
There are two scenarios that may apply in
curing one who has been bewitched:
1 Lifting the spell by means of further
witchcraft, where the practitioner of witchcraft
and the sick person seek to draw close to the
jinns and devils in order to cure the spell. This is
haraam and it is a great evil and the work of the
Shaytaan, Jaabir ibn Abd-Allah narrates: The
Messenger of Allah was asked about

nushrah, and he said, It is the work of the
Shaytaan. Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in
Saheeh Abi Dawood, 3868 and Musnad Ahmad.
Nushrah means curing witchcraft by means of
witchcraft or by using the services of the devils.
(Al-Qawl al-Mufeed ala Kitaab al-Tawheed, by
Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy
on him)).
NB: The Prophet described it as being the
work of the Shaytaan, and whatever is the work
of the Shaytaan is haraam, for the Shaytaan
enjoins evil, immorality and saying of Allah what
one does not know.
2 Lifting the spell by means of the ruqyahs and
prayers for refuge with Allah that are prescribed
in Islam, and using permissible kinds of
medicine. This is permissible and is a righteous
deed for which a person will be rewarded, so

long as he observes the proper etiquette of
treatment and performing ruqyah.

Secondly:
Our advice to the one who uses witchcraft to
fight witchcraft is to fear Allah and to hasten to
repent from this action which poses a threat to
his religious commitment and his Islam, before
the Angel of Death comes down to him and
catches him unaware, whereupon regret will be
to no avail and there will be no turning back. The
danger that witchcraft poses to one's religious
commitment is very real and very serious. Allah
has told us in His Book that learning and
teaching witchcraft is kufr as He says in [al-
Baqarah 2:102]
They followed what the Shayaateen (devils)
gave out (falsely of the magic) in the lifetime of
Sulaymaan (Solomon). Sulaymaan did not

disbelieve, but the Shayaateen (devils)
disbelieved, teaching men magic and such things
that came down at Babylon to the two angels,
Haaroot and Maaroot, but neither of these two
(angels) taught anyone (such things) till they had
said, We are for trial, so disbelieve not (by
learning this magic from us).
Learning and teaching witchcraft constitutes
kufr or disbelief in Allah. In as-Saheehayn it is
narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet
said: Avoid the seven (sins) that doom a
person to Hell. They said: O Messenger of Allah,
what are they? He said: Associating others with
Allah (shirk), witchcraft, killing a soul whom Allah
has forbidden killing, except in cases required by
law, consuming riba, consuming the orphans
wealth, running away from the battlefield, and
slandering chaste and innocent believing
women.
These are all sins which will doom a person to
Hell, so let this practitioner of witchcraft beware

of the wrath and punishment of Allah, for His
punishment is painful and severe. Let him
beware of the traps of the Shaytaan who makes
this deed appear attractive and makes him think
that it is in the interests of the Muslims and a
solution to their problems, until he drags him to
Hell and causes him to be thrown therein, what
a terrible end. Beware, for the matter is very
serious, it is the matter of eternal bliss or eternal
misery; we seek refuge with Allah from loss and
utter misery.
Thirdly:
The best advice for the sick person who has
been bewitched is to be patient and seek
reward from Allah. He should realize that this is
a test through which he may raise his status
before Allah if he is patient and seeks reward.
Anas ibn Maalik narrates that the Prophet
said: The greatest reward comes with the
greatest trial. When Allah loves a people He tests
them. Whoever accepts that wins His pleasure but

whoever is discontent with that earns His wrath.
Tirmidhi (2396) and Ibn Maajah (4031) Classed as
hasan by al-Albaani
He should depend on Allah alone and put his
trust in Him in all his affairs, as well as following
the means prescribed in shareeah and the
permissible practical means of treating his
disease. He should turn to Allah and beseech
Him with dua at the end of the night, and
following each prayer, for Allah is the One who
removes harm and relieves distress. He is
merciful to His believing slaves and answers the
dua of the one who is in difficulty.

to the distressed one, when he calls on Him, and
Who removes the evil, and makes you inheritors

of the earth, generations after generations? Is
there any ilaah (god) with Allah? Little is that you
remember! [al-Naml 27:62]
Let him beware of approaching the ways of
witchcraft, soothsaying and fortunetelling, for
they are a disease and a malady which lead to
certain doom. It is narrated from one of the
wives of the Prophet that the Prophet
said: Whoever goes to a fortune teller and asks
him about anything, his prayers will not accepted
for forty days. Muslim (2230)
Abu Hurayrah and al-Hasan narrate that
the Prophet said: Whoever goes to a
soothsayer or a fortune teller and believes what
he says has disbelieved in that which was revealed
to Muhammad. Musnad al- Ahmad (9252)
Classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani in
Saheeh al-Jaami, 5939.
So let the Muslim beware of asking them about
anything or believing them, in obedience to

Allah and His Messenger , and so as to protect
his religious commitment and his belief
(aqeedah), and out of fear of the punishment of
Allah. Avoid the things that lead to shirk and
kufr, for whoever dies in a state of shirk or kufr
will have lost in this world and in the Hereafter,
and that is the true loss. Allah says in Surah
Nisaa vs 116:


( )
Lo! Allah pardoneth not that partners should be
ascribed unto Him. He pardoneth all save that to
whom He will. Whoso ascribeth partners unto
Allah hath wandered far astray.

CONCLUSION.
Treating black magic is very easy and simple
provided you have the following:-

then to Allah belong all honor. To Him
ascends good speech, and the pious deed
doth He exalt; but those who plot iniquities,

plotting of such (folk) will come to naught."
[Fatir 35:10]
Allah says in Surah Taha verse 69 :

wizard's artifice, and a wizard shall not be
successful to whatever point (of skill) he
may attain.
3. Purifying and cleansing ones body and
surroundings from sins.


Whatever good, (O man!) happens to
thee, is from Allah. but whatever evil
happens to thee, is from thy (own) soul.
Surah nisaa verse 79.
4. Perform two rakaahs Salaatut-tawbah and
keeping away from all major sins e.g.
haram food and drink, adultery,
disobedience to parents or husband,
music and dancing, zina of eyes i.e
watching un-islamic videos, zina of
tounge, visiting an astrologer/

fortuneteller /magician, living on unlawful
earningetc] that could block Allahs
mercy and blessings. It is narrated that
Abu Bakr al-Siddeeq said: I heard the
Messenger of Allah say: There is no
one who commits a sin then purifies himself
well and stands and prays two rakahs, then
asks Allah for forgiveness, but Allah will
forgive him. Then he recited this verse: And
those who, when they have committed
Faahishah (illegal sexual intercourse) or
wronged themselves with evil, remember
Allah and ask forgiveness for their sins;
and none can forgive sins but Allah and
do not persist in what (wrong) they have
done, while they know [Aal Imraan
3:135]. Abu Dawood (1521)

And whoever does a wrong or wrongs
himself, but then seeks forgiveness from
Allah, he will find Allah forgiving and
merciful. (Surat an-Nisaa 4:110)
5. Constantly be in the remembrance of Allah
and always say Bismillah. Abul-Maleeh
reports that a man said, I was behind the
Messenger and his riding animal
stumbled. I said, May Shaytaan perish,
and he said, Do not say, May Shaytaan
perish. If you say that he will grow in size
until he becomes the size of a house and
says, By my strength. Instead say, In the
Name of Allah. When you say that, he
reduces in size until he is like a fly. (Abu
Dawood).
6. Be connected to the Quran. Reading it
regularly and listening to it all the time
expels the devil. Stay away from music for
it attracts the devil.

And We reveal of the Quran that which is
a healing and a mercy for believers though
it increase the evil doers in naught save
ruin. (Al-Israa ' 17:82).
