MESSAGE FROM MRS. KENNAUGH

Last Friday, Beagle students and staff pledged to Stand 4
Change to assist in defeating bullying. This is the third year
that we have participated in this pledge, coming together with
schools across our nation take the following pledge:

I will not allow social labels to define others or myself.
I will take a stand against bullying in my school.
Starting today, I will stand up and Defeat the Label.

Stopbulling.gov encourages us as a society to refrain from
labeling people as bullies or victims. This may inadvertently
send the message that the behavior cannot be changed.
Rather, refer to the person as the one who bullied or the
one who was bullied. This change in verbiage, while it
may seem small, can make a profound impact by helping
those involved with bullying believe that they can improve
their behavior.

Remember, bullying is not only physical. It can be verbal as
well, which includes telling or spreading rumors, making
repeated verbal threats, teasing/belittling others, taunting, or
embarrassing others purposefully. These are the types of
bullying that are seen most often in society and we, as
adults, can make a difference by being positive role models
for our children. When talking to another or about a
situation, ask yourself the following: Is what I am about to
say
True
Helpful?
Inspiring?
Necessary?
Kind?

This can be especially difficult while in a situation that is
frustrating (a long line at the grocery store, poor service
at a restaurant) or emotionally charged (a sporting event,
disagreements with loved ones), yet our children all
learn how to deal with such situations by what the adults
around them continually model. Please partner with us
in our efforts to model how to deal with such challenges
in a kind, respectful way. Teach your child the T-H-I-N-
K acronym and be a positive role model. Together, we
can make a difference!

As always, if you have any questions or would like to
discuss any concerns, please contact me.

RELAY FOR LIFE

The Relay for Life Walk for a Cure relay is being held
at Beagle next week from Friday at 5 p.m. through
Saturday at 5 p.m. The relay teams will be setting up
prior to the 5:00 p.m. start, which means that the loop in
the parking lot where pick-up and drop-off normally
occur will be closed. If you are picking your child up
from school that day (Friday, May 16), please plan on
parking in the north side of the school, (Brookside
Subdivision) and meeting your students in the gym.
Walkers will be dismissed after the buses are
released. Please do not park in the front parking lot,
or use the front door. We recognize that this is an
inconvenience to families, but the Relay is a worthy
cause that involves our entire community. Thank you in
advance for understanding.
