ANNOUNCEMENT OF ANTICIPATED VACANCY PART-TIME CONTRACTED POSITION
POSITION EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR - SPECIAL EDUCATION for a
DEAF/HARD OF HEARING Early Intervention Program: Birth 5 year
old students - Part-time position of 24 hours/week year round
REPORTS TO Spokane HOPE School Board of Directors
ORGANIZATION Spokane HOPE School is the only listening and spoken language school
in the Eastern Washington/Northern Idaho region serving children who
are deaf/hard of hearing and who have modern hearing aids or cochlear
implants. Our program is unique because we are co-located with Eastern
Washington Universitys Department of Communication Disorders and
Washington State Universitys Department of Speech and Hearing
Sciences (on Spokanes EWU/WSU Riverpoint Campus) allowing our
students daily access to individual speech-language therapy. The
mission of HOPE School is to optimize the acquisition of listening,
learning and speaking skills in children who have hearing loss and to
provide a supportive environment for their families with the ultimate
purpose to prepare the students for a seamless transition into the
students mainstream educational setting in their neighborhood schools.
STARTING DATE August 1, 2014
SALARY Commensurate with Relevant Experience
JOB SUMMARY The Executive Director (1)establishes and maintains an appropriate
school climate for achieving students goals and objectives through
standards-based curriculum implementation; (2)works collaboratively
with the Board of Directors to ensure mission attainment and effective
organizational development and management, including sustainability of
the organization; and (3)ensures that fiscal operations and human
resources, marketing and resource development, programmatic, and
board development strategies are effectively implemented across all
segments of the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS Desired Experience: Masters Degree preferred, will consider
Bachelors Degree, leadership experience desired preferably in
nonprofit, academic, or clinical sectors.
Physical Demands: Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of
time; must be able to physically endure walking, listening, talking,
reaching with both hands and arms, lifting up to 10 pounds and/or
supporting students as required in emergency situations to assist during
an evacuation of the building if necessary.
Employment Conditions: Must: (1) pass background check; (2) have
drivers license and proof of insurance; and (3) have ability to travel to
meetings and set up for events and meetings.
