Under Barrys direction, Starwood Hotels became an innovator in the hotel space, creating W Hotels, taking St. Regis
froma single hotel into a brand and introducing the Westin Heavenly Bed and Bath.
Westin: In 1995, Starwood led the acquisition of Westin Hotels & Resorts, culminating in the merger in January 1998
with Starwood Hotels & Resorts. Under Starwoods leadership, the RevPar propelled from an US$ 11 a night deficit in
1998 to a US$ 24 premiumin 2004.
Socit du Louvre: In 2005, SCG completed the US$ 3,2 billion acquisition of Groupe Taittinger and Socit du
Louvre which brought with it one of Europes largest hotel networks, as well as the legendary crystal company
Baccarat and Annick Goutal Perfumes.
Mridien : In 2005, SCG completed a US$ 1,2 billion off-market transaction of a portfolio of 32 Le Mridien luxury
hotels, located primarily across Europe.
Concorde Hotels & Resorts the luxury hotel group is also an affiliate of Groupe du Louvre, owned by the private
equity firmStarwood Capital Group.

Golden Tulip
Golden Tulip established in 1960s was acquired by Starwood Capital in
2009 and joined in an alliance with the Louvre Hotels group to formthe second
largest hotel group in Europe & one of the largest ten worldwide.
Golden Tulip Hospitality group entered into a joint venture with the Leyland
group in 2006 to form Golden Tulip, Southern Asia with the objective of
developing, franchising and managing hotels focusing primarily India, Pakistan,
Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka & Maldives.
Golden Tulip Southern Asia aims to establish Golden Tulip Hotels Suites &
Resorts as a leading hotel chain in three to five star hotels segment in the
Indian Sub-continent. It has developed the necessary infrastructure to provide
support to franchisees and owners.
In India, the first Golden Tulip hotel opened in November, 2007 and currently
has 15 hotels under operation with 5 more opening by MID OF year 2014 at key
business and leisure destinations. The company aims at having 50 operational
hotels by the end of 2015.

- Established in 1976
- Starwood Capital acquired the group in the year 2005.
In July 2009, Starwood Capital acquired the Golden Tulip Hospitality Group from KLM Airlines and thus formed a
merger of Louvre Hotels and Golden Tulip Hotels.
This acquisitions gave Louvre Hotels access to Asia, Africa and America.
A comprehensive portfolio of 7 brands, 1100 plus hotels in 1 to 5 star categories and a presence in 47 countries has

The strategic alliance of Louvre Hotels/Golden Tulip is harnessing its geographic breadth, comprehensive brand
portfolio and team expertise to consolidate its presence in Europe and venture into target territories such as
Morocco, India, Brazil, the Middle East and China.
The alliance establishments can be broken down into three categories:
- 24% fully-owned hotels (managed by Louvre Hotels),
- 27% hotels run under a management agreement (operated by Louvre Hotels within the framework of a hotel
owners mandate)
- 49% hotels run as a franchise (managed by the owner).
