RESTRICTION OF FLYING REGULATIONS JET FORMATION DISPLAY TEAM SITES 31
MAY TO 27 JULY 2014
The Air Navigation (Restriction of Flying) (Jet Formation Display Team) (No.3) Regulations 2014.
1 Restricted Areas (Temporary) are established for selected sites in the United Kingdom to protect jet formation aerobatic teams
such as the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, THE RED ARROWS. A Statutory Instrument (SI) has been made prohibiting access
by aircraft to the airspace within which the formation jet display team will perform. The SI contains respective details of the
locations and areas of the displays that are listed in paragraph 4 below; any changes or additions to the programme will be
notified by NOTAM.
2 The Secretary of State, Department for Transport, in exercise of the powers under Article 161 of the Air Navigation Order 2009
makes the following Regulations, (military aircraft should comply with The Manual of Military Air Traffic Management, Chapter 4,
Paragraph 27):
(a) Subject to paragraph (b), no aircraft is to fly within the area bounded by a circle of 6 nm radius, centred on the position
specified in column 3 in the Table at paragraph 4, below the altitude (above mean sea level) as specified in Column 3 and
on the days specified in Column 1 in that Table during such periods of time as may be notified for the purpose of this
Regulation; and
(b) Paragraph (a) does not apply to any aircraft:
(i) flying within controlled airspace if it flies in accordance with an air traffic control clearance issued by the appropriate
air traffic control unit; or
(ii) flying within the aerodrome traffic zone of an aerodrome having an air traffic control unit if it flies in accordance with a
permission issued by that unit which is listed in the Schedule.
3 Times for each display will be notified separately by NOTAM, feature in the daily AIS Information Line message (0500-354802 or
020-8750 3939) and will be included on the Pre-flight Information Bulletins (PIB) through the AIS Web site at http://
www.ais.org.uk.

5 Other Jet Formation Display Team displays will take place at Londonderry (29 June 2014), RAF Waddington (6 July 2014) and at
the Royal International Air Tattoo, RAF Fairford (each day between 10 and 13 July 2014) within Restricted Areas (Temporary)
established and promulgated separately.
6 The chart below depicts locations listed in the Table. The numbered circles do not, however, show the radius of 6 nm to scale.
