North Korea Nuclear Weapons

PEACFUL SOLUTION TO NORTH KOREAS NUCLEAR CRISIS

The General Assembly,
Recognizing that sanctions placed on North Korea in past resolutions (1718, 1874, 2087,
2094) have proven to be unsuccessful,
Fully aware that North Korea has threatened nuclear strikes against the United States in
the spring of 2013,
Bearing in mind that North Korea announced withdrawal from the Non-Proliferation
Treaty on January 10, 2003,
Despite North Korea claiming that they launched a satellite into space in the winter of
2012, the article The Truth About Then North Korean Space Launch states The US,
Japan and South Korea, as well as the global community, considered the Norths
satellite launch a faade for another illegal long-range missile test. This confirms the
violation of resolution 1718
Keeping in my mind that North Korea has tested nuclear arms on October 9, 2006, May
25, 2009, and February 12, 2013,
Noting with deep concern that the relations with the United States and North Korea
have been negative for almost 64 years,
Deeply disturbed that a South Korean naval vessel was destroyed by a North Korean
torpedo missile killing 46 sailors,
Affirming that in our possible solution, we call upon nations and allies of the UN to
consider the following,

1. Emphasizing that Russia strongly believes in a peaceful resolution using negotiation
and diplomacy;
2. Consider that we will offer aid for disarmament, but with further restraints;
(a) North Korea will be given approximately 1 million metric tons of food and
water as well as economic benefits for exactly 10 years:
(b) Minimal aid will be provided until the complete disarmament of all nuclear
weapons and complete inspection of past nuclear facilities:
(c) China and Russia, as North Koreas strongest diplomatic allies, will oversee
the distribution of aid in North Korea as well as continue inspections to insure no
further development of nuclear activity within North Korea:
3. Recommends that North Korea is allowed one nuclear reactor that will purely be
used as an energy source;
(a) This reactor will be run under the jurisdiction of the Security Council:
(b) The reactor will generate at least 800 greatly needed jobs for North Korean
while helping eliminate unpredicted power outages throughout the country:
4. Calls upon the Security Council and other countries with large nuclear stockpiles to
dismantle one-third of all their nuclear weapons in order to show compromise;
(a) This will provide North Korea with incentive and a sense of confidence if they
choose to dismantle their nuclear weapons:
5. Further invites the General Assembly an Security Council for input upon the
proposed resolution;
6. Expresses its hope to acquire fulfillment of the proposed resolution within the time
frame of three years;
