musicsynthesizerandatimelapsecameraoverthetwoweeks.ThefulldayprogramisdividedbetweenIT
CampandYMCAactivities,with3hourmorningandafternooncohortsofeach.
Why do we need an IT Camp for middle school students?

ITCampisdesignedtoinspiremiddleschoolstudents,
especiallygirlsandminorities,toexploreandultimately
considerinformationtechnologyasacareerpath.Nearly4in
5Science,Technology,Engineering,andMath(STEM)
collegestudentssaythattheydecidedtostudySTEMinhigh
schoolorearlier,andoneinfivedecidedinmiddleschoolor
earlier. However,theNationalCenterforWomen&

InformationalTechnologyreportsthatthenumberofAmerican
highschoolsofferingAPComputerScienceisdown35%
since2005 .ITCampaimstohelpreversethisdecreasein

formalcomputingeducation.

How can your organization help?
Our Goal is to raise $5,000 to fund start-up costs and camper sponsorships
Financialsupportfromyourorganizationwill:
providestartupfundingforcampequipmentincludingRaspberryPicomputers,headphones,
SDCards,andconnectivehardware,ensuringasustainableprojectforatleast3years.
sponsoronecampereachyearforthenextthreeyearsforaonetimecostof$300.
Expertisefromyourorganizationwillprovide:
ITindustrymentorsandguestspeakers
ITindustryfieldtripsorrealworldopportunitiesforcampers
How will students be selected for sponsorship?
CampersponsorshipswillbeawardedusingtheYMCAsFinancialAssistanceprocess.Thisisdeterminedvia
TaxReturns,numberofstudentsenrolledincampandhouseholdexpenses.

SDCOEchannels.
SanDiegoScienceAlliance,BeWISEprogram(SDSA),anticipatesrecruitmentof1cohortof7th&8thgirls
andhighschoolmentorswholearnedcomputercoding/programmingthroughtheBeWISEBotballprogram.
SDSAwillprovideconnectionstoSTEMindustrypartnersandpromotetheprogramthroughSDSAresources.
ClassroomoftheFutureFoundation(CFF),Advisoryrole,willprovideconnectionstoSTEMindustry
partners,guestspeakersandmentors.WillpromotethroughCFFresources.
