Removal
All vehicles.
1. Standard preparatory measures.
Lay protective covers over the fenders.
2. Unclip the engine wiring harness connector from the bulkhead extension.
RHD vehicles only.
3.
NOTE:Do not empty the coolant expansion tank.
Remove the coolant expansion tank and lay it to one side.
Only LHD vehicles built up to 11/98
4. Remove the wiper arms as described in Operation No. 32 588 0.
5. Remove the cowl grille.
6. Undo the bulkhead extension.
Remove eight bolts.
Pull the bulkhead extension forwards.
LHD vehicles equipped with air conditioning only.
7. Remove the right-hand bulkhead extension.
LHD vehicles equipped with air conditioning only.
8. Detach and lay the power steering reservoir to one side (if equipped).

9. Detach the refrigerant line bracket from the bodywork.
10. Raise the vehicle.
11. Unclip the refrigerant lines from the bracket.
12. Detach the air conditioning dehydrator.
13. Lower the vehicle.
All vehicles.
14. Remove the pollen filter housing.
Pull the refrigerant line forwards.
15. Remove the blower motor cover.
16. Remove the blower motor.
Separate the connector in the passenger side footwell.
Unscrew the two screws.
Pull out the grommet with the cable and the connector.
Installation
1. Install the blower motor.
2. Thoroughly clean the area around the pollen filter opening on the bulkhead.
3. Apply a layer of sealant (see "Materials") approx. 10 mm thick to the horizontal top face around the pollen filter opening.

4.
NOTE:Tightening torques: see "General Specifications".
Install the remaining components in reverse order.
5. Standard finishing operations.
Remove the protective covers.
Check the coolant level and correct as necessary.
6. Check the operation of the heater.
