I atn directed to refer to Directorate's letter No. 60-g/2009-5PB-l
dated B'" May, 2012 circulating therewith the revised procedure for filling
up of the posts of Postal Assistant / Sorting Assistant and subsequent
cornmunications on the sr_rbiect.
2. while there is no change in the syilabus and pattern
of the
exanrination, the mininrum educational qualifications, procedure
ancl
schetre for the examination have since been revised to fill up the following

10. Facilities would be made available to the aspiring candidates
residing in remote areas like North-East, Lakshadweep, Andanran and
Nicobar lslands, at the cornputerised
post
offices in that area for
subtnitting their applications On-Line through internet facility and also for
making payment of fee through e-payment.

applicartts through e-nrail about tl-re receipt of the applicatiorrs ancJ its
acceptance after successful registration.
12. Iher /\dnrit Cards of adnritted candidates shall be unloadecl on the
website and thc availabilrty of the sanre shall be intrmated to the
candidates through SMS / E-rnails to enable them to download the same.
13. Since the applications would be received on line, it would not be
possible to examine the candidates' eligibility with refererrce to their
testirnonials regarding their educational qualification, age etc., while

issLting Admit Card/Hall Tickets to them. Their eligibility shall be decidecl

candidature of all the candidates shall be treated as
provisional

intimation to them lt shall be made clear to the candidates that if the
information furnished by them is found to be falselincorrect at any stage of
the recruitment procedure, their candidature will stand surrmarily rejected.
However, after the declaration of the result and before issue of tlre
appointment letter the Circles shall call for the documents fronr the
candidates so admitted and selected provisionally and verify their clairn
regarding educational qualification, age etc and thereafter only issue the
offer of appointrnent.
14. In order to ensure that there is transparency in the selection
process, the marks obtained by the candidates in Aptitude lest ott the
brasis of which tlrey are called for Conrputer lest shall be hosted on the
website of India Post by CMC Ltd [--irrally, the list of tlte cartclidates
selected for appoirrtment shall be hosted by respective Circles on tlte
website.
15. A waiting list shall be prepared to the extettt of vacartcies
annoLlnced in the relevant category. The candidates in the waiting list wtll
be considered only in case the selected candidates do not resporrd or
refuse to accept the offer of appointment. The names of the candidates in
the waiting list shall not be announced. This list will be kept operative for
a period of six months extendable by another six months or till the tlext
examination is held, whichever is earller.

Marks: Computer/Typing Test will be of qualifyittg nature
with mininrum of 4Oa/o marks to be secured by OC candidates, 3il'7,r ntarks

D. Selection
process
i. All the eligible candidates shall be called for the Aptitude test.
ii. No weightage of marks secured by the candidates in 1O+2 or 12il' class
will be given while preparing the merit list.

E. Allocation of the successful candidates
Candidates slrall be allowed to apply for all allied cadres of
postal
Assistant / Sorting Assistant, in various Divisions where the vacancies
exist Therefore, the Circles, while notifying the vacancies shall indicate
the vacancies reporled by the various Divisions of all the Cadres of Postal
Assistant / Sorting Assistant and ask the candidates to indicate their
preferences for allocation to one or more than one Cadre and Division.
The candidates will be allocated the Cadre and Division as ner therr
preference based on their position in the merit list and availability of
vacancy. Such candidates who are not able to get the allocation in any of
the Cadres/ Divisions of their preference because the candidates above
them in tlre rnerit list had to be allocated the Cadres/Division(s) preferred
by thern, st-tclr cantliclate;s shall be allocated the Cadre/Division where the
varcancies exist. l-lowever, tlre candidates will have to give an underlaking
that in tlre event of their not gettirrg the post in the Cadre/Division of their
preference they are willing to accept the appoirrtrnent in any
Cadre/Division Regarding the candidates, who do not indicate their
preference

will be presumed that they have equal preference for all the
Cadres/Divisions and shall be allocated the Cadre/Division where the
vacancies exist.
