BUSINESS SECTION 3.1 Vision Our vision is to guarantee the security of pets by helping the owners keep track of where they are. 3.2 Industry Analysis: GPS Tracking Software Industry Industry: GPS Tracking Software Industry. The GPS Tracking Device Industry is a relatively new industry, where satellites have been used for location purposes for many years, but tracking devices have been quite slow to become available to the general public. Force: High/Low: Justification: Buyer power: Low Buyer power is low because only a few companies within the industry offer GPS Tracking collars which is mainly for the purpose of hunters keeping track of their dogs while hunting. There are currently none that offer GPS-enabled microchips to be implanted in the pets collars. Supplier power: High Supplier power is high because not many companies within the industry offer capable GPS tracking systems.
3 Threat of new entrants: Low The threat of new entrants is low because the technology used is a GPS Tracking software, which is not cheap. Also, this piece of technology is not simply encoded to be capable. Money to be invested for the industry is not low, therefore there will not be many competitors within the industry. Threat of substitutes: Low The threat of substitues is low because there are only a few alternatives available to keep track of a pet, while non offer a GPS implanted microchip, which can ensure the safety of pets and easily keep track of where they are with advanced technology. Rivalry among existing competitors: Low The rivalry among existing competitors is low because competition is not fierce. There are only a few suppliers within the market whose technology supplies contain specific features and is being wanted by companies within the industry. Overall attractiveness of the industry: The overal attractiveness of the industry is high, even though contribution costs are high, the industry has the prospective to make high revenue, especially from pet owners. The buyer power is low as only we, currently, that offers his piece of advanced technology and the supplier power is high, thus meaning the competition is not fierce. These forces result in high revenue with mild competition which causes the outcome to be an attractive industry to enter. 3.3 Customers and Thei r Needs Customers, likely smartphone users, who own pets will be most interested in our application. This appication will reduce cycle time, stress and energy when it comes to searching for pets, enabling the whole process to be more proficient. 3.5 Suppliers and Partners The suppliers for our product include the software companies who help us to produce the application. Another would be the GPS tracking system company who will work together with the microchip-producing company in order to combine GPS-tracking with microchips into our application. Our partners, the smart phone application stores: Google Play and the Apple App Store will need to maintain a relationship with us once the application is established so that it will be available to the customers. 3.6 Strategy: Cost Leadership Smartphone applications are classified to be low cost and broad market so therefore our cost strategy is cost leadership. The price of our application must be set at a reasonable price that customers are willing to pay for in order to successfully sell it. A fair price for this application in this broad market will be expected to result in revenue and profit because of the high demand surrounding smartphone applications. The overall strategy is therefore Cost leadership.
5 3.7 Value Chain Activity: Technology Development The most important value chain activity for this business is Technology Development Technology development must be concentrated on in order to define the success of our application. Our application will have to be produced via technology so that the GPS tracking system can be merged with the microchip. Also, to ensure the application to be kept up-to- date, there will need to be constant exploration into developing technology so enhancements in the application compenents can be made. 3.8 Business Processes 3.8.1. TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT PROCESS The development of our application requires GPS-implanted microchips and a connection to satellites for our tracking service, so therefore, in order to merge the compenents of our application to produce our final product, comminucation with our main suppliers and partners are crucial. Based on customer specifications and feedback, this process will improve our application and create new updated versions of it. Start Collaborate with application stores and suppliers with the proposal Application proposal is accepted by both the partners and suppliers End No GPS with customer specifications implanted microchips is developed with the software supplier Yes Collaboration system Application is published and released on application stores for download Customer downloads the application and leaves positive feedback on its features No Yes Customer relationship management
6 3.8.2. CUSTOMER FEEDBACK PROCESS For our product to be developed, gaining customer feedback is extremely crucial in order to gain knowledge of their needs. The customer feedback process will allow customers to leave feedback and any faults with the application so we can report these promptly and deliver an updated version of our product until finally providing the completed application. Start Send all users of application with a feedback link User chooses to leave feedback User leaves feedback that will be transferred to customer support Decision support system Customer support detects areas of improvement in surveys Customer support Technical support Technical support analyses and addresses reported issues New updated version of application is released in Application stores Customer receives a notification about application update and is provided with details of improvements End Yes Yes No No
7 3.9 Functionalities 3.9.1. TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT PROCESS Interact with our partners (Application stores: Google Play and Apple App store) and suppliers (software company and GPS-tracking company) in order to form relationship. Create and develop the application that merges the GPS-tracking system together with microchips and consequently aiming to meet customer requirements. 3.9.2. CUSTOMER FEEDBACK PROCESS Transfers the finished customer feedback to customer support to organise data. Information, processed from data, is then transferd to the technical support team for application reengineering. 3.10 Systems
3.10. 1. PRODUCT SETUP SYSTEM This system simplifies the process of set up and installation for both the business and the customer. Through this system, packages will be sent to their chosen vet where microchips will be implanted with the GPS-tracking system, while detailed instructions will be provided for setup so customers will be taken care of during the set up process and so they can use more time on giving feedback as an important aspects for the business such as improvements to be made. 3.10. 2. CUSTOMER SUPPORT SYSTEM This system, essential to customer service, allows customers to provide feedback or ask for support. Through this system, data collected will be processed into information to show areas of improvement, which reduces the whole renovating time and time engaged to advance the convenience of the application. 3.10. 3.
